9 Chapter 8: Underground Kingdom

- 3RD PERSON'S POV -

"Marry me, Miya."

Those three words kept on hunting Miya, even in her sleep. It's confirmed, Estes has feelings for Miya.

"I can't marry him! I already have my mate." Miya exclaimed and slumped her head on the pillow.

"Yeah, and don't forget to mention that you ran away from your mate and he might be thinking that you dumped him already." Kadita said while filing her nails.

Odette sighed, "Kadita, you're not helping. Miya, listen to me. Why did you run away? You got me worried. I thought something bad happened to you. Kadita and I will be dead to Estes if something happened to you. I'm sorry, Miya. If I didn't invite you to the party, none of this will happen."

Miya sat on her bed and held both of Odette's hands then smiled gently, "Don't blame yourself, Odette. In fact, I wanted to thank you for inviting me to the party. Because of you, I met my mate."

"And you ran away from him." Kadita added.

Odette rolled her eyes, "How about you Kadita? Seems like you're hiding something from us. Have you met your mate?"

Kadita stopped from filing her nails looks like she had seen a ghost, "What mate? My mate rejected me a long time ago." She explained and awkwardly laughed.

Miya and Odette looked at Kadita straight in the eye to see if she's lying. Both of them are in shock when they found out that Kadita is telling the truth, "No way..." Miya gaped.

"It's the truth..." Kadita bitterly smiled.

Odette frowned, "If your mate rejected you, then what's with the exchange of letters?"

"We never exchanged letters. You did not read them, right? That was all of my letters sent to him but he also sent them back to me. Then one day, a letter came from him. I was so happy and excited to read the letter. He told me through the letter that I need to stop sending him letters because he will never read them and I was just wasting my time. Then he rejected me since he's getting married next week."

Odette intentionally kicked the bed and her brows furrowed, "He rejected you because he's getting married to someone that isn't his mate??"

"He also mentioned that he loves the woman he is going to marry."

Odette was furious while Kadita remained calm but deep inside, she's hurt and the pain of being rejected by your own mate is slowly killing her. Miya kept silent then a thought came to her mind.

"Kadita, you were rejected through a letter and not in person. What if he didn't write that letter to you and it was someone else?"

Odette looked at Miya and suddenly grinned, "You do have a point, Miya."

Kadita laughed, "Come on guys, stop giving me false hope. It's already clear to me that he will never accept me as his mate. It'll only get worst, just stop. Besides, you're not the one who will be hurt, it's me." After that, she left Miya's bedroom then went home to her Kingdom without Odette who is still with Miya, planning how to stop Kadita's mate's marriage with another woman.

"Are you sure about this, Odette? Kadita might hate us for doing this." Miya said and scratched the back of her head.

Odette brought out the map of the Land of Dawn and placed it on the bed. She always carries the map wherever she goes. Except for the bathroom, of course.

"She admitted it. She's hurt, so as her friends, we will help her by getting revenge on her mate." Odette said and clapped her hands because of her 'brilliant' plan.

"Yeah, and how are we going to avenge Kadita?"

Odette snapped her fingers and let out an evil laugh, "By stopping her mate's wedding and ruin his Kingdom!"

Miya shook her head at Odette's plan, "As if burning a whole Kingdom is easy as you think it is, Odette. They might start a war with your Kingdom for burning theirs down."

"That might be a problem. We can't burn their Kingdom because it's already burning." Odette pointed out something on the map.

Miya frowned and looked at the map then her eyes widened, "I-Is that even possible?"

"Her mate is the Fire Prince of the Burning Kingdom, and that Kingdom belongs to the Dark Empire." Odette muttered.

She rolled back the map and put it inside her bag again, "Now I understand why that Fire Prince doesn't want Kadita as his mate. Their love is forbidden." Odette sadly said and slumped her back on the mattress.

Miya's heart started to beat fast again when she heard Odette's last sentence. There's a big chance that her mate is also from another Empire. She never met someone in their Empire named 'Alucard'. Even though they're mated to each other, their Empires won't allow it and might even punish them for this.

How is that possible? Why did they become mates if it's not allowed in the first place?

"The Kings won't be happy about this. Both of them will be killed." Odette sighed.

"What?!" Miya exclaimed.

Odette sat up from the bed and frowned, "You didn't know? I thought Estes told you. Forget about it, it's not like you're mated to one—" She stopped in mid-sentence and gasped, "Are you??"

Miya combed her hair using her fingers. Stress is taking over her mind and can't think straight, "I don' know! I didn't get a chance to ask him—I mean I asked him and he only said that he lives underground. Is there an underground Kingdom?"

She felt her cheeks blushed when she remembered what happened that night.

"Are you upset because the kiss was only a peck?"

Miya shook her head, trying to forget that embarrassing moment while Odette is frowning at her, "Is something wrong? Why are you shaking your head?"

"Nothing! So uhmm, about that. Is there a Kingdom underground?"

Odette was about to answer when they heard a knock on the door and it revealed Estes smiling at them, "What's with the Underground Kingdom? And did you find your mate, Miya?"
