19 Chapter 18: The Three Mystical Goddesses

- MIYA'S POV -

"You were never a failure for us, Esmeralda, the goddess of the stars..."

Layla and I stood up and bowed our heads again, "It's an honor to see you again, Miss Esmeralda." I greeted her.

Her gaze switched to me and she seemed surprised, "Miya, goddess of the Moonlight. What brings you here to our village?"

I bit my lower lip and not sure what to answer. It's a bit embarrassing if I told them that I'm here because my mate and I have no other place to go.

"She wanted to visit her long lost friend, Layla," Alucard answered for me. I felt relief and mouthed him 'thank you'.

He nodded and looked at Esmeralda, "I don't understand. I thought you're an astrologer but you're also a goddess? And I heard news about you, they said you were dead. And why did you help me with my mate? Why did they kneel? Are you a queen or something?"

Esmeralda sighed and scratched the back of her head, "I see, you have a lot of questions. I have all day anyway. I'm one of the three mystical goddesses. I think that will give you an answer to all of your questions."

Alucard grinned, "Actually, no. I don't what that is. Care to enlighten me?" He looked at me, asking for answers.

I started to explain everything I know about the three goddesses, "It happened many years ago, the kings, queens, gods, goddesses and other council members gathered around the Sacred Statues for a conference. That time, there was still no Dark nor Light Empire, only the Land of Dawn. Since our empire is too small, other big empires always targeted our land to colonize us. They decided to create mystical creatures that will protect the Land of Dawn, forever. They cast a spell to the four newborn babies of the four kings that made them immortals. They created four immortals, one each cardinal direction on our land, north, south, east, and west. Until then, no empire tried to attack us again because of the three goddesses. Hundreds of years later, our one empire divided into two because of greediness for power."

Alucard frowned, "You said that they cast a spell to four newborn babies, how come at the end you only mentioned three?"

Esmeralda smiled bitterly, "He's the only guy among us. He used his power not to protect our land but to gain power. Our empire back then suffered a lot because of him, he once became the king and ruled the Land of Dawn, but it didn't last long because we're stronger than him if the three of us teamed up to defeat him. That's also one of the reasons why I'm here. His body is buried somewhere near to this village. I felt his presence this morning, someone must've woke him up and broke the spell we cast on him. He might get his revenge and this village will be his first target."

"Can't you do the spell again? You've done it before right?" Layla suggested.

She shook her head, "We can't. We're not that strong anymore because one of us is asleep, her energy is drained and we can't wake her using our powers. Only time can heal her, that means all we can do is wait for her to leave her slumber. Until now, we don't know where her body is" Esmeralda said.

I remained silent. Esmeralda, the first mystical goddess also the goddess of the stars. Next to her is Rafaela, heaven's queen. But who's the third one? She said she's asleep and her energy is drained. Could it be..?

"Lunox. The Twilight Goddess..." I trailed off.

Esmeralda's face brightened, "Do you know where she is?"

"She's sleeping under the Sacred Statues. Guarded by a contractor, Aldous. But he's not letting anyone enter the hole." Alucard said.

She shook her head, "He'll recognize me, he'll let us in. Layla, warn your people about the awakened monster. We need to get away from this place as soon as possible." Esmeralda faced me, "Can your empire accept these people? I don't trust the Dark Empire since they're the reason why Lunox is still asleep." Layla nodded and left the library.

"Blame our queen, she's the one who wants the power." Alucard pouted.

The two of us facepalmed and left him inside. I whispered to his mind, 'Don't pout, you look like an idiot'.

I heard him shout my name so I ran faster and caught up with Esmeralda.

She's staring at the people that are packing their things and preparing to leave their village. Some were crying, probably because they're going to leave the place where they spent their lives with. I'll do the same thing if I was in the same situation.

"Alucard said that you're the astrologer that helped him to find me, his mate. Why?" I asked her.

Esmeralda glanced at me before focusing her eyes to the people again, "Nothing. He just reminded me of someone." She said casually.

I grinned, "Is that 'someone' is your mate?"

She gazed at the stars in the sky. Oh, it's nighttime already.

"Yes, my mate." She answered.

I'm hesitating if I should ask her my question but I asked her anyway, "Where is he? It's okay if you don't want to answer." I scratched my temple.

She smiled sadly, "He's the reason why I'm doing this right now. He's already awake, Miya... I don't know what to feel. Should I be happy that he's here again and I'll be able to hold him again? Or should I be scared because of what he can do to us? Yes, I'm one of the three mystical goddesses but there's still a part of me that is human. I'm physically strong because I can live another century and maybe more than that but my heart is weak, especially when it comes to my mate. I don't know who to choose that time, Miya. I'm torn between my mate or our empire. Then I chose the empire, sealing my mate with a spell almost killed me. I felt weak. That's why when I saw Alucard, I helped him with his mate, you. I showed him his future and there he saw you. I don't want your love story end up like mine. Please, fight for it. I regretted my decision. I regretted sacrificing my happiness but if I become selfish? All of us are probably dead. We always have the option to fight. Your life depends on the choices you're about to make. Life is like a story, you're the author and it's up to you how the story will start and how it will end. I hope you choose the right decision, Miya." Esmeralda said and was about to leave when she said something that made my heart break into millions of pieces again.

"I came here not only to warn the people here about Khufra, the monster. But I also came here as soon as I felt your presence. I've seen something in the future. Another war will happen and it's either you will die or Alucard will. I hope you both avoid this death."
