17 Chapter 16: Run Away

- MIYA'S POV -

"Is that why you didn't show up to me? How about those three years?? Why didn't you approach me?"

He sighed, "I was almost killed, Miya. A month or even a year is not enough for my recovery. Until now, the scar is still on my back. How can I approach you if I'm like this? I'm still weak, I'm not fully healed yet. That night of the party, I didn't expect you to be there."

I narrowed my eyes at him. If he's not at the party for finding his mate, then for what?

Alucard chuckled. Of course, he read my mind again, "Trust me, I attended the party for you. Hoping I could bump into someone who knows you because I'm certain that you will not attend the party but I bumped into you instead, which is more convenient."

I rolled my eyes, "Ha ha ha." I faked a laugh, "But seriously, why did Estes kill you? I'm surprised that you're still alive. He usually puts a curse to the person he fights with."

He frowned, "Is that still not obvious to you? He loves you, Miya! Estes loves you, not because you're his friend nor like a sister to him, he loves you more than that. He even planned to make you his mate and forget about me."

"Then maybe I should talk to Estes about this," I said and was about to get up from the bed when a hand stopped me and pulled me back to him.

"No, don't ever do that. There's a big chance that you'll get locked up inside that castle and I'll never get to see you again. Let's run away together, Miya. I'm only asking three days to make up the past three years that I was gone with you. I want to make it up the years I was gone to you. Run away with me, Miya. I know a place far away from here, far away from our problems and wars, where there is only peace, you and me."

- 3RD PERSON'S POV -

"I want to visit the Oceana Kingdom. Nothing can ever change my mind. Prepare the horse. I want to see my mate. Alone." He said sternly while his eyes are blazing.

"B-But your majesty, the King... your father will be furious about your journey. We can't allow you to leave the Kingdom. May I remind you, your majesty, you're going to cross the border. The Kingdom you're going to visit is our enemy. What if you get killed?" His brother said while his head was bowed down.

Valir smiled, "I don't care if I die along the way. At least I'll get to die trying to meet my mate. I can't let my father stop my bond with her. I think I love her already, Vale. You'll understand me once you find your mate. And don't call me 'your majesty'. You're also a prince here, Vale." Those were his last words before leaving his brother behind.

- KADITA'S POV -

"WHAT?! Where did you leave Miya?! I'll send guards over there right now. Go with them and show the area where you left her." Estes said angrily.

I knew this would be a bad idea but I felt bad about Alucard, Miya's mate. He was begging us to give them time together. We respected that, they're mates. We know the feeling of leaving your mate behind. So we gave them three days and here we are now, making up a lie in front of Estes.

Guinevere and I nudged Gusion who is completely silent about what's going on right now. He's the best when it comes to lies. He can be an actor for his great acting skills. You can't see a single trace of pain on his face when his mate rejected him.

Gusion cleared his throat, "I'm sorry to say this but I suggest we stop from looking for Señorita Miya. I assume she's already dead because we didn't finish the spell properly because someone attacked us."

My eyes widened and so is Guinevere's. We both looked at Gusion's direction with our questioning eyes. Yes, we planned to cover up Miya's whereabouts with a lie but not with this kind of lie!

He wiggled his eyebrows saying that we should go with the flow, ugh.

"Yes! We didn't get to finish the spell because someone attacked us. We're uncertain of where Miya's spirit went." Guinevere said and managed to smile.

Estes brows furrowed, "Why do you sound so happy about Miya's disappearance? Are you her mortal enemy?"

How I want to bump my head on the table right now. Odette is also here and I can feel her stare at me. Can the ground just eat me alive to escape this embarrassment? I don't want to be questioned because I feel I'm going to say the wrong answer and the three of us we'll be doomed.

"Kadita?" Estes called.

You're so dead when you come back here, Miya.

I kneeled down and bowed my head. I can sense that Gusion and Guinevere are both shocked, "F-Forgive me, Estes, the god of the Moonlight Kingdom. Princess Guinevere and Prince Gusion have nothing to do about Miya's whereabouts. It's all my fault. Before we left the area, I talked to her and she said that she will go to the Swan Castle to visit Odette's father. Miya's father and Odette's father are close friends so he's like an uncle to her."

I raised my head up hoping to see a satisfied face but he's still frowning and looked at Odette's direction to confirm it, "Is this true, Odette?"

She glanced at me. I tilted my head to signal her. Odette sighed, "Yes, your majesty. Miya's father and my father are very close friends."

I felt relief when Estes let us go, the same thing to Guinevere and Gusion.

"Why do you have to change the story? Wouldn't that be more complicated?" Gusion asked when we got away from the castle, Guinevere also agreed.

I sighed, "If I just followed your story then the castle guards are probably scattered in the Sacred Statues. Estes won't be pleased if we just said Miya might be dead and we have no idea where her spirit went. He'll just shut up when he finds out Miya's safe."

Both of them were impressed and later on, they bid goodbye since they need to go back to their own Kingdoms.

"Looks like you're getting good at creating lies."

I immediately recognized her voice and faced her, "I'm sorry that I have to use your father for an excuse, Odette. Miya's mate, Alucard wanted to have some time with her. We can't say no to them even if it's against the rules. I know that you'll also do the same thing for Miya, Odette."

She sighed and massaged her temple, "Okay, okay. You're right, but no more lies! Unfair, you didn't even call me about your plan. I wanted to help."

"But you're going to—"

She chuckled, "Stop you? Well, maybe I will because it's too dangerous but if that's what she wants, then I will help you guys. You're my friends after all."

I smiled at her couldn't stop myself from hugging her, "Thank you."

"No, I should be the one thanking you for having such amazing friends. By the way, I'm going home now, do you want to go with me?"

I nodded, "Okay. Let me get my bag first. I left it somewhere in the garden. I'll be right back." Odette nodded and said she'll wait for me.

I went to the garden but didn't find my bag. I left it on top of the table earlier but now it's gone. Forget it, the stuff inside is useless anyway, why did I even bring that? I was about to walk away when a man appeared holding my bag.

"Looking for this?"

My eyes widened when I recognized him, "Y-You..."

"Yes, it's me. I must say, you're more beautiful in person than in a picture."

I was about to speak but I felt dizzy and everything went black.
