chapter one.

nothing but pure bliss clouded your mind as a you slept like a baby under your sheets, and you definitely didn't intend on waking up. that was simply the job of an alarm.

though, a strange noise going on from afar was enough to knock the tranquility right out of you. a noise you couldn't exactly decipher due to being in a far state beyond reality.

you even stopped your movements in your dream to look around in confusion. what the hell was that? brows furrowing in real life as you turn on your side and shove your head under the sheet. whatever it was, it was undoubtedly disturbing your precious sleep.

then the realization hit you harder than puberty, someone was banging on the front door.

your heart drops to your butt, very similar to how your body jumped out of bed and slammed against the cold hard floor.

sleep still clouded your head to even feel the pain. you ran to the front door in a t-shirt and underwear. hair messy and untamed while the features of your face was puffy from sleep.

you swung the door open, ready to ravage the obnoxious and unsophisticated person whom decided to impede your precious sleep. a tint of aggravation gleaming across your glossy emerald orbs, accompanied by red cheeks and ears from vexation.

the adrenaline pumping through your vines abruptly came to a stop when a lengthy old woman appeared in your line of vision instead of some ignorant being around the same age as you, craving attention.

who you very much expected.

however, an old woman with a broad grin plastered onto her red pigmented lips appeared into your line of vision. her face was caked with makeup, trying to present herself as a younger being even though the lines of age and wrinkles were still present. the elder woman wore a cute pink pastel dress with her pin straight platinum hair clipped into a neat bun on the top of her head.

her manicured fingers that matched the colors of her lips laid flat underneath a glass tray of homemade cookies.

the woman chuckles lightly at your appearance. "did i wake you?" she questions, blue orbs traveling up and down your half naked form, examining your awkward appearance.

a peachy blush colors your cheeks in embarrassment and you use your oversized shirt to pull down and cover your spongebob panties. "maybe." you mumble, loud enough for her to hear. you were too embarrassed to glue your gaze to hers, staring at the floor instead.

"well i apologize," the woman starts with an apologetic flash in her eyes. "although, i came to say hello to my new neighbor." she exclaims, catching your attention. her grin had grew wider as she pushed the cookies more towards you. with the intention for you to take them.

the aged woman intrigued you with her peculiar vibes, mixed with a pinch of generosity. albeit the generosity beaming out from her demeanor appeared to you as forced. something about the lady's pigmented crooked lips didn't dissolve correctly with the acids in the pit of your stomach.

then the time flew into your contemplative mind. normally, you would never find yourself up and running at 6 in the morning. the literal crack of dawn. the thought of time passing by when you could be asleep, exasperates you to the bone.

no one could possibly understand the importance of sleeping to you. if you had one giant pet peeve, it would be someone or thing interrupting your sleep.

"at 6 in the morning?" you ask after glancing at your apple watch, throwing a lighthearted chuckle in there so your words wouldn't come off as rude. also forgetting to take the platter of cookies from the woman.

she sighs, looking away to something down the hall. but your orbs didn't remove from her face. "yes, i figured this would be the best time since i work all day long. however, if you don't like cookies i will hand them to someone else." she pulls them towards her chest with a slight frown.

even the cookies looked bland. you didn't want them, but reached for the glass out of respect.

her face brightens again. "have a good day, young one."

you glance at the plate of food warming your hands and back up at the new neighbor strolling inside her apartment straight across from yours.

something still didn't feel right.

-

"and then, i just took the cookies so she wouldn't feel bad. meanwhile the entire time i had this sickening feeling in the pit of my stomach." you ramble, throwing your hands around while envisioning the strange encounter you had this morning.

well, only weird in your eyes, according to your closest friend.

he rolls his brownie colored orbs at your rant. then taking a sip of his lukewarm coffee before replying nonchalantly. "it was literally just a new neighbor being friendly."

the two of you became official friends back in elementary days when you made fun of jungkook for being the quiet kid in class. you were far from being a bully though. in fact, you were the social butterfly in your grade. bright and bubbly everyday all day with that gleaming demeanor everyone adored.

it was jungkook that made your days in elementary school a thousand times brighter. despite him being the new kid containing a shy demeanor. he never spoke much and you observed over time that the boy didn't really have a love for nature. considering the fact he would let out a slight groan of annoyance when the teacher announced that recess was going to be outside. instead of running around like maniacs along with the other kids his age, jungkook would always sit down crosscrossed applesauce on the sizzling hot concrete and draw in his journal. alone and unbothered.

once you snuck out of an ongoing game of tag to associate with the new kid. teasing him playfully about his chubby cherry cheeks that blended into a shade of red under the blazing sun, and the point of fact that they would grow even redder every time you spoke to him.

his orbs are dark. somewhat reminding you of the surface of a hot cup of coffee. however, his glossy and perfectly round eyes would brighten and fulfill themselves when looking at you, with an emotion you could never decipher as a child.

"just a neighbor being friendly, huh? i've never encountered something like that in my entire life, jungkook." you cross your arms over your chest with a slight pout that your friend wasn't understanding your point in the slightest.

unlike jungkook, you have a very strong ability of reading people.

"well raelynn, you do live in a stuck up society that would rather see you on your ass than your feet. specifically, people that want to have you kicked out of your dorm and onto the streets." you role your eyes sardonically at his response. "junkoo-" he cuts you off with a slender finger lifted into the air. face straight and serious as his eyes gazed off at something in the distance behind you in the large coffee shop.

"and unfortunately, mean people like that do exist, raelynn. but, back in the old days is where friendlier human beings with heavier hearts existed. people that would give you a plate of cookies just because their your new neighbor, and people that would rather see you having a good time in your dorm than on the streets, asking your friends if you can crash in their dorm." a grin of sarcasm pinches at his lips with the last fragment of his words.

you gently set down your mug of coffee and cross one leg over the other. mentally preparing yourself to repeat the next sentence for the millionth time."you were being too loud." you deadpan with orbs that screamed 'realize your mistake.'

jungkook shakes his head in disagreement. "i don't remember that being the point."

you close your eyes for a brief moment of utter disappointment and pinch the bridge of your nose with your thumb and index finger. jungkook is truly pompous and there was absolutely nothing you could do about it, he has been this way since birth after all.

"the point is, the woman complained to the dean and got me kicked out of my dorm just because she's a bi-"

"or maybe she just doesn't wanna hear loud music everyday all day blasting through her walls?" you aver, lifting your head to espy your friends reaction to your reply.

over your years of growing up with jeon jungkook, one of the things you noticed was when he was concentrated on a certain thought, his brown gaze would wonder and glue itself onto a random object. before he would lose control of the muscles in his face, subtracting an expression from his baby face as his mind wandered somewhere beyond reality.

you found the small habit to be cute.

you patiently take a sip of your coffee.

"no, my reason sounds a lot better."

you dramatically drop your head on the table, causing all the silverware to loudly clash against the glass.

the guy grew up with YOU his entire life and still has an overfilling amount of pride. sometimes you just wanted to kick his ego and bust it open, wishing it would just spill out.

"i'm done. i can't stand talking about this anymore." you rub circles onto your stressed temples.

you lift your heavy head and glance at jungkook. his expression blank as his read something on the screen of his phone. you tilt your head to the side in curiosity. "get a text?"

he shakes his head, lips puckering cutely. "more like an invitation." he powers off his phone, setting it to the side with a sprinkle of exhilaration in his orbs. "yoongi's throwing a party this weekend."

min yoongi, one of jeons closest friends whom he crashes with after getting kicked out of his dorm. also known as the biggest jock of your college.

and not just jock, meaning he's just athletic. jock, meaning his an athletic asshole that worrys about getting into the panties of girls rather than upping his grades. min yoongi knows how fine he is, how perfect his thin body is structured, his confidence bounces off the walls and he can make a woman bow down with just a certain glare.

he was also somewhat rude to you growing up, but that's a unique story for another time. you don't appreciate jungkook being influenced with men such as yoongi, but if people like him makes your friend content, then so be it.

-

"what are you doing all alone out here, cutie?" you look up from your book to see a bright and shining jimin strolling your way. his fluffy blonde locks flowing around with the wind as his plump lips curved into a cheesy smile. orbs squishing into crescents.

his cuteness earns a small chuckle from you. "well, technically i'm not alone." you joke and eye all the college students playing around or having conversations with their peers. all scattered around the front of the school.

jimin sucks his teeth and plops down in front of you. "but you're sitting by yourself under this tree. i think that was my point." he giggles lightly.

you share a smile with him.

"it's my break between the next set of classes, so i like to sit and enjoy the nature for the meantime."

he hums as a response, brown orbs gazing at the trees arching above the two of you and creating shade.

you met park jimin last year. your freshman year of college to be exact. it's more of a simple story, the guy sat next to you in class and you both seemingly clicked from that day forward.

you don't regret a single moment of associating with jimin the day you met. you lean towards the more glad side, actually. finding him to be one of your blessings in life, meaning you don't really believe you would be able to function correctly without his existence.

other than jungkook, jimin also stuck by your side through thick in thin. the type to guide and motivate you to succeed through your lowest points, and answer your call at 4 in the morning to hear you rant about how horrible your day was, just to let you get it out of your system.

jimins very persistent on not letting any of his peers contain negative thoughts and/or emotions.

and there's not a single flaw about the dude in your eyes. you often question if his parents are even human, because how is it even possible to create such a beautiful being and mold the personality of an angel into him.

the only thing that gets to you about jimin is the point of fact that he's very much the type to put the people he loves before himself.

which isn't bad in any way, but at times you wished he would focus on himself instead of trying to get others lives together.

it's always the ones with the huge smiles and angelic personalities that go through the most.

"are you attending min yoongis party?" jimin suddenly asks, throwing you out of your thoughts. your line of vision flicks to his, seeing his eyes stuck to yours in questioning. his legs against his chest as he wrapped his arms around them.

you shake your head. "i wasn't invited."

"aren't you going with jungkook though?" jimin tilts his head to the side, eye lids narrowing in curiosity.

you furrow your brows in confusion, your lips parting to disagree.

but before any form of sound could slip between your lips, jimins eyes grow wide in realization as he slaps a hand over his plump lips.

you sigh, not really surprised at his slip of words, and close your book. "spit it out, chim."

"but i wasn't supposed to tell you." jimin speaks, words muffling behind his palm. "kooks gonna kill me."

jimins the worst secret keeper on the face of the earth and you and all of the mutual friends between you and jimin found that out the hard way. "you should just say it, i have a strong feeling about where this is going."

he sighs in disappointment of himself and removes the hand from his mouth, running his hand through his locks instead.

jungkook doesn't have a date so he was just going to take you to the party. you were so sure of it, that you were tempted to put money on it.

"jungkook doesn't have a date to the party, so he wanted to bring you."

"i fucking called it." you groan dramatically and plop your face into the palm of your hands.

from the sight of your reaction, jimin decides to clarify. "he doesn't have a date, raelynn." his voice lowers, attempting to have you drowned in sympathy.

you were often left concerned about the social life of jungkook. most of the females attending your college drool over his looks and beg to have a spot in his heart, only to get blankly rejected.

the only girl he really shows interest in, is you.

you can't help but wonder if the reason being is because the two of you are close, or because of something deeper than that.

though, you refuse to contemplate the second option. he's your best friend in the whole world, jungkook couldn't possible want something greater than friendship with you, could he?
