25 Ray, again?

Dav left after his words, again, he had imposed his secret power which was his ability to easily apologize. With those words, he made me feel like he was the one that has been wronged and I hated the fact that I felt that way.

I was left with no option, I wore the clothes he had imposed on me, as usual, it was too big for a little creature like me. My thoughts drifted away from Dav as imaginary scenarios of how I would be the epitome of attention when we get to the Royal family's feasting room and for an unknown reason, I wouldn't stop having the feeling that the Night Fangs would be present.

Sigh, slowly I opened the door. Dav seemed to be lost in thoughts, he didn't even spare me a glance that seemed deliberate. That's right, he had better think of his recent shameless behavior.

" I'm ready, your father must be waiting."

My words made him turn his gaze to me and the fact that he had seen my nakedness made me unable to stare at his face. The part of his lips on the scarred half of his face raised as he formed a smile on his face.

Wordless, he stood up from the bed and walked to my direction. I'd thought he had wanted to touch me or say something to me but my expectations were cut short when he blankly walked past me.

That simple act generated a weird feeling in me, the same feelings that would always eat me up whenever I was being ignored by Dav. I kept pushing him away but only I knew that I needed him.

Amid my thoughts, I felt a hand on my shoulder, it was Dav. He had changed to his usual hood and knicker. His choice of dressing was understood when we stayed at his home but wouldn't it be strange for the next king of a powerful race to dress so casually?

" Wife." He called.

I didn't bother to turn to face him since he stood at my back, I simply mumbled.

" You do know that I will never hurt you, let's not have any differences anymore." He said those words for the hundred and second times. Well, I did what I knew how to do best, hold on to his words.

" Mm," I mumbled.

Slowly, he traveled his hand from my shoulder to the back of my palm and I must admit, it kinda felt good. Without waiting for another second, Dav led me out of his room where I could see the two models like vamps leaning on the wall.

Dav said no word to them, and with his hand still firmly holding on to mine, he lead me through the castle hallway. There, I could see more portraits that perfectly describe the beef between the humans and the vamps. Though Dav didn't give me the chance to carefully study the meaning of the pictures from the little I saw, it was clear that a particular race had enslaved the other but which?

" Princess, it seems you are interested in these portraits," Leo asked.

" Yes, I am–"

" Wife, we don't have time for that, if we turn out to be late, we will only create more room for attention to be drawn to you." Dav blurted out but what he failed to realize is that as long I was the only human in their midst, attention would always be drawn to me.

I said no more words as I let Dav lead me through the castle hallway. I guess this part of the castle was restricted since I had not set my eyes on any vamp since I got out of Dav's room.

After a long walk of intense silence, Dav stopped me at a door that also had similar features to that of the throne room, I needed no one to tell me that a good number of people were behind that door as I could hear a great murmur.

" Prince, I think you should check up on the princess, I can sense fear in her." There it was again, that annoying voice, I didn't know what sign I should display for Ray to know that I don't like it when he interferes with anything I do.

" Wife, this is an unofficial feast, there is no need to be scared. As I said, vamps can sense fear, don't let them sense it from you."

In a blink of an eye, a loud voice echoed, informing the Royal family and guests of our arrival while the expensive-looking door slowly spread wide open. There, I could see quite a number of vamps dressed in expensive royal outfits including Dav's mother and siblings seated in fancy-looking chairs while a long table was placed in between them. Whatever discussion they had was halted as they stared at me and the outfit that I had on me.

But Dav didn't care, he led me to a seat that was closest to his father and he sat beside me.

" Good, we are complete. Today's feast is not like the random feast we have among the members of the royal family. Today, we have a new member and the future queen of our race seated here with us." Father stood up and said those attention-drawing words.

Well, it was inevitable. I could see the anger and wait…. jealousy in some of their eyes, especially from the females among them but my thoughts were cut short when I noticed a gaze that wouldn't divert away from me.

It came from a familiar face, this vamp looked so much like Dav, there was no way he would be Dav's brother since Dav's brothers were seated at the far end of the table.

I turned my gaze away from him with the hope that he would do the same but when I stylishly looked his way, his gaze would still directed at me. There was no lust or desire in his eyes, instead, I could see care and affection.

" She can never be the next queen if she doesn't produce an heir for the Prince." My attention drifted away from the strange vamp to whoever had said those words and to my not-so-greatest surprise, it came from Ray.
