[Amandla's POV]

***

*SPLACK*

Just after my arrow left the string of my bow, the Ganipote who had, if I had heard correctly, hit a surprisingly low number of 2 metal beams during his fall, had finally crashed to the ground...

It was to be expected, although his constitution was largely superior to that of a human being, after the impact that hadn't prevented his remains from looking more like a jam of whatever red fruit rather than something else.

Having spared him a quick glance to check if he was dead I didn't need to wonder if he was still breathing since he no longer had a semblance of head to do so.

*BAM*

Similar to the sound heard when Lazar launched his attack on the structure, again the noise of a collision was heard, but this time, it was my arrow that struck a metal beam...

Knowing what other sound would follow this one, instead of greeting it with annoyance as I did the first time, I greeted it happily, covering my ears with a smile plastered on my face while observing the Alphas carefully.

*SCREECH*

As expected, my arrow started to devour the metal of the beam it had just hit and simultaneously produced an unbearable noise, as for the Alphas...

[Lazar's POV]

***

I was wondering what Amandla was thinking about when she missed her shot, but I just realized that it wasn't actually the case...

When her arrow reproduced more or less the sound that my previous attack had made, I understood for what reason the Ganipote that had just crashed to the ground had fallen from the structure since what had happened to him was kinf of what was happening to the other Alphas right now.

The last Ganipote alive missed the metal beam that he was going to grab, as for the Garaches, they both involuntarily released their holds on the ones they were grasping as soon as they heard the noise produced by Amandla's arrow; the direct reason for all of this was the immense pain they were all feeling and the indirect one wasn't difficult to determine either since to became aware of both all I had need to do was look at the Alphas.

'Well, if I was told in advance it would end like this...' I thought to myself with a bit of disappointment in their performance when I saw the Alphas falling from the structure while covering their ears and writhing in pain.

Amandla approached me and halted on my left, just like me, she was following the Alphas with her eyes while they were continuing inexorably to fall towards the ground, hardly slowed down by the metal beams which were injuring them in the process...

"They are hyper sensitive to sound." She declared out of the blue with a hint of pride in her voice.

Seeing that she was putting on a teasing expression and deducing from it that she was eagerly waiting for me to give her an explanation for my (not so) stupid attack of earlier, I gave her the following answer before heading to where I estimated the Alphas would land, "You wouldn't know it without me."

"Indeed, but it's still ridiculous." She retorted mockingly while following me as I was nearing the back side of the structure.

*SPLACK*

One of the Alphas fell to the ground before I even had the time to take more than 5 steps towards where I was heading and not surprisingly since it was clearly the heaviest of the 3, it was the Ganipote.

'Definitely dead.' He was in an even worse state than the one who had fallen earlier so I ignored him and looked at the 2 Garaches who were also about to become pancakes...

*SPLACK*

*CRACK*

One of the 2 Garaches fell on her head so I knew immediately that she was done for, as for the second, she had fallen on her legs and the upper part of her body didn't seem to be extremely injured from where I was standing so there was a chance, albeit slim, that she wasn't dead...

Having gotten experience points when the Ganipote from earlier died, I figured out what to ask Amandla to find out, "How many notifications did you get?" I inquired with curiosity after having turned to her.

"2." She immediately answered me while glaring at the motionless Garache whose legs were shattered (and considering the pulp they actually were it was an understatement), which made me understand that as soon as she received the notifications of the deaths she had realized that someone had escaped from the meshes of her nets.

Amandla turned her gaze to me, "If she was still conscious she would be whining in pain and we don't have time to wait for her to wake up, if she even wakes up in the first place. It would be better to kill her, don't you think?" She said while making a golden arrow appear in her left hand as she must have expected that asking me this was just a formality.

I nodded and the next moment her arrow was already heading towards the Garache's head, the blood and other fluids that spurted onto several metal beams at the base of the structure was the sign that we had no more purpose being here and that it was time to go see if we had done the right thing by leaving such a responsibility in the hands of Katelyn...

I wasn't optimist on that point but well, I wasn't for anything in the first place.

[Sullyvan's POV]

***

We were in the final stretch, I was well aware of it, not because I was sure of our victory but because I knew that another large-scale defeat would be a sufficient reason for our superiors to consider Boston a lost cause...

According to the message that Walker sent me through Mayor Sullyvan's daughter the fate of the city would be decided in the next two days, and I was hoping he was right because I couldn't see us lasting much longer than that...

I had no idea how many we were left, but I wouldn't be surprised if it was less than 1/4 of the forces that were sent here, our morale was at its lowest and although it shouldn't have surprised me when it happened, we were starting to have cases of desertion.

Honestly, the situation was just plain crap, and the worst part in it was that it may not get any better when Walker will come back here (if that happens) because knowing him cooperation will be difficult.
