1 Rearing Itself - Chapter 1

So it begins...

Shadow's POV:

What is this surrounding me?

Nothing but darkness.

I feel it creeping around, yearning to swallow me whole with no remorse.

No guilt, no...warmth. It's as if death itself wants to devour my soul, but there's something about it that makes me uneasy, even though it feels as if it wants to eat me alive.

I think that it wants me to accept what it is, but that'll never happen, not while I'm alive and breathing.

While I delve deeper and deeper, I hear something. Not something I have not heard before, these are some eerie thoughts...but it's not my own.

The voice calls out to me saying...

"Dude, dude wake up we'll be late again for the millionth time and I ain't gonna let that happen, even if I have to drag your sorry ass outta bed, heck I'd kick your ass to school if need be. "(Side note:If you're wondering what the voice in the dream said you're just gonna have to read further and find out.)

I wake up with a smirk saying:"Thought I heard something familiar in my dream hehe."

He replies with:"What are you talking about bro. Get dressed, get done and fix your hair or we'll be late."

(Oh if you guys are wondering who I'm talking to, well, he's my best friend, we've been together since I could remember. His name? Yeah it's Illume, kinda cool how our names are like Darkness and Light, it's weird, anyway...)

Me:" Yeah yeah I'll be done in a minute."

Illume:" Yeah right like I'd believe that you're worse than a girl sometimes, ah, correct that, all the time."

Me:" Hey I'm not that bad"(Maybe I'll tell Illume today, something about these weird nightmares or dreams I'm having, they're starting to feel way too real and...painful for some reason.)

Me:" Hey Dude."

Illume:" Yeah what's up?"

Me:" Oh nah nevermind, it's nothing.(Nah maybe I won't tell him, it's just a dream after all, it ain't life threatening.)

Anyway we head off to school, we always walk, it ain't that far but if Illume weren't with it'd probably feel like a long walk without the conversation.

So we head into the school grounds and as soon we stepped into the courtyard I heard this nauseating voice screaming

"Hey losers, oh look it's ol shady and his light lady, yeah ain't that what your name means, you light shit up,huh...Illume? Your names really suck do you know that, oh wait I didn't get a chance to make fun of your name yet, oh you hiding in the shade loser can't come into the light like the rest of us?No wonder you're so pale, doofus!"

Yeah this ass is Pyro, he thinks he's cool, meanwhile...

"You really need to shut up bro you sound way dumber then you look"Illume replies with a smirk.

Oh no he's not gonna like that one, better calm the douchebag down before he blows a gasket. "Look Pyro before you do anything, let me just apologize for Illume, he didn't mean anything by it, he was just joking."

Pyro replies all red in the face:" You think I'm gonna let you get away with that huh, I'm gonna destroy you."

(Oh, you, my friend have no idea what Illume would do to you.) "Look I know you've got something to prove but clearly I don't and my buddy here, well, clearly he'd be happy to kick your ass if you'd ask nicely but we gotta get to class, the bell's about to ring."

Right on time the bell rings for class and I smirk, I always had a sense for when things like that were about to happen. So we head to class and I get this feeling, it's eerie, why's it feel this way, it's...like my dream, what is this?

Illume asks:" Dude what's up, you okay?"

I reply with:" Heck yeah dude... I'm just... I'm just gonna throw up now hehe."

I pass out.

Waking up I see nothing but darkness, wait this isn't the conscious world this seems like that dream again, only worse, aww fuck! I'm in this nightmare again, no, no, no, why now, why again, not now, stay away!

I hear it again...

It's calling me...

As it always has...

It wants me to accept it...

It wants me to accept it...

Saying:" Don't leave here... stay with me, stay and sink into your hatred, your depression, your loneliness, your sadness... your anger. Revel in blood."

"I can't, I won't stay here, you're suffocating, get the fuck out of my head, I don't want you, just leave me alone."

"I WILL NEVER LEAVE! We are one, I AM you. Just accept it and make it easier on both of us, accept the power."

"I will never accept you, YOU HEAR ME!"

"Oh yes you will, oh looks like our time's running up, enjoy your human life whilst you can."

Waking up I see Illume.

"Illume oh thank God you're here, thank you bro for waking me up, phew"

Illume responds with:" Dude what the heck, you're usually happy to get more sleep instead of less, what's going on, I had to carry your sorry ass to the nurses office after you freakin passed out on me man."

"Oh sorry man, I skipped breakfast this morning... maybe it's that." I say as I laugh it off.

Illume thinks to himself: (Dude, really? No way am I gonna believe that but I guess I'll leave it at that for now, he seems like he's been having it rough for these couple of weeks.)

"Yeah, again, sorry bro and...thanks I really appreciate you not making a big fuss." I chuckle.

Right then I hear the voice again...
