14 He killed somone...

"The girl's on the way up right now, she left."

"Get out of there."

"On my way out, the mother has been paralyzed but someone's coming, we have been revealed they know we're here, they're coming for us. —"

"Change of plans, I'll do it myself."

Amber came through the elevator.

—Message to mom—

' Going to dry up and then I'm going to stay in your room for a while. Is everything okay?'

She texted on the way to her room, drying her hair with one hand only to turn a corner when she suddenly stopped, her eyes going wide, dropping the towel.

Not too far from her, Arveion stood with a bloody sword in his hands hovering over a body on the ground.

Amber screamed when she saw Sandy's face, drawing his attention, to which he plunged his sword into the body's head before meeting her eyes.

She didn't even get time to understand what had happened, nor did she get time to take her clothes since her room was at the lane where Arveion stood.

She turned on her heels, her chest heaving as she ran to the second end where her mother was staying, clutching her chest with all thoughts flashing through her brain. 'He killed someone, was he going to kill me now?' She had talked to him earlier…'

Tears ran down her eyes, and she had to hold the walls to steady herself. Her heart accelerating and she felt like the walls were shaking around her, she looked behind her to see if he was following before proceeding to look for her mother's room.

She knocked on the door, screaming for her to come out, "Mom! We have to l-leave right now!" She called and looked behind her shoulder, "Mom!" She was about to knock again when the door opened, however, the person behind it wasn't her mother.

Amber's eyebrow knotted, looking at the person in front of her to who she knew as Sandy, "W-Wasn't you just at—"

That shouldn't be possible.

The girl only looked at her, the door slightly opened and a hand behind her back.

"Why are you here? Where's my mother?" Amber asks, shifting on her toes to see in the room.

"Sorry, I think you have the wrong room." She finally says but Amber wasn't convinced. Seeing this Sandy's hand slowly lowered and was about to close the door when Amber stopped her, her eyes drawn to something at the side of her eye.

"I'm here to see my…"

Amber narrowed her eyes, looking into the room until her vision came in clear to what she was looking at, at the far end of the corner rested someone's feet with deep red blood followed after.

"Mother…"

Her eyes returned to Sandy's, slowly stepping back with an attempt to stay calm, "Right…" Amber's eyes then went to her shoulder which was imprinted with the red blood of someone's hands.

Sandy smiled at her but she knew something was off with the girl's expression, "Something wrong," she asked looking at Amber who wasn't looking at her. She looked at her shoulder seeing that her shoulders were covered in the man's who she had killed earlier.

She clenched the object in her hands, knowing that she was already exposed and with a lunge, she charged up to Amber revealing the bloody dagger in her hands.

The dagger tore at Amber's arm, blood trickling down causing her to stumble back, her eyes wide. She was going to die. At a hotel! She was going to die at a hotel!

But before the dagger could reach her face she was pulled by her wrist into Arveion's chest, his arm around her back when he drew his sword with the other, saving her for a minute before the dagger could reach her face and slicing Sandy's neck like butter.

Amber was stunned when she looked up at him, "Let go of me." She screamed at his face and pushed off his chest, looking at Sandy's dead body on the floor, blood seeping from her sliced neck and covering her shoes, "Y-You killed her! She's...dead!"

Tears ran down her cheeks as she looked into his cold eyes.

"You're a murderer." She whimpered, her knees going weak and he caught her before she could collapse.

He held onto her waist to steady her, his eyes like flames when he looked at her, "She's a demon, she was already dead. There were two of them, this one planned to kill your mother and the next came to finish the job after not getting you at the pool. The one I killed at the hall." He stared into her red eyes, her lips in a pout when she pushed him away, "What? You're the only demon I see right now." Amber blurted and he went serious.

"If you call me a demon then you wouldn't want to see—" Arveion came to an abrupt halt, his eyes focused on the girl's arm which was covered in blue veins.

"Demon markings." He snarled, harshly gripping onto her arm, his eyes scanning the blue marking that only then started to be visible which meant…

"Sundown…" He murmured before pushing Amber into the wall, both hands on the side of her face with his body over hers when all of a sudden the roof tumbled down, stones, and ceiling pieces falling to the floor while he used his body as a brace to protect her from getting hit.

"What's going on—" She coughed, dust entering her system at how close they were to the destruction, and her sight blurred.

Her body crushed under Arveion's body weight, his warmth against her and face only inches away from her neck.

"Demons." He told her just before the place quieted. The place was dark from the dust and through the silence a snarl sounded, Arveion's weight going lighter against her before his warmth fully disappeared, she turned to face him and asked, "What?"

Arveion turned his back to her, his sword at his side turning his head from side to side, looking through the dust. He closed his eyes and clutched his fingers tighter around the sword, listening attentively until the snarl could be heard again.

The dust slowly settled and this time when the monster snarl, the location of the beast was revealed—the room cleared enough to see what it was. Amber gasped, her hand tightly covered over her mouth when her eyes landed on the demon.

She no longer could tell from reality or if she was dreaming as she looked at the creature—its body was pale and slimy with blood and resembled an octopus, its back humped and with its backbone peaking through its skin. As it turned its head to the sides, it had bulky added skin behind its head like a squid's, goo falling from its mouth which was more of its face with its two tiny eyes only hidden to the sides.

Its slimy tentacles and legs stuck effortlessly to the wall when it moved, tentacles stretching further away from its body like spiders swinging on their webs when the creature built up momentum to swing through the air.

It then jumped to the floor, growling like a car's engine, feeling around the floor with its tentacles until it stopped at Sandy's body wrapping its hands around her and lifting her to its mouth, disposing of her whole.

Amber let out a whimper causing the creature to feel around once again.

Arveion turned to face her, putting his hand over her mouth, "Shh, go find your mother." He whispered, pointing to the room, "Don't make a sound, it's blind."
