8 Hey Baby

"Thank you so much, Mr. Manager," I said happily.

"Don't get too happy there Mina," he said.

"Huh?" I replied. "Well if I put you back on the clock, I think I'll need some kind of assurance that you aren't going to just quit tomorrow. I'm a patient man Mina, but I need to know if you are going to be dedicated."

"I can confidently say that I am not going to quit as I am having some money troubles and I really need this job," I assured him, folding my hands together.

"Okay Mina, you can come back to work tomorrow," the manager said.

"Thanks again manager," I said and happily walked out the door.

Hearing the words "ouch," I notice that in front of the door was Logan.

Closing the door, I asked, "are you okay?" "Yeah," he said rubbing his head, and laughing.

"Good. But that's what you get when you eavesdrop on people," I declared

"I wasn't listening on the conversation," he said.

I gave him a blank stare. Does he think I'm stupid?

Looking at me he confessed, "okay I'll admit it, I was eavesdropping on your conversation, but that's because I thought you were quitting. I didn't want you to leave."

Wow, that was the nicest thing I was told since my breakup and it made me feel good about myself.

"I mean, then I'll have to actually to do my job," he laughed.

I laughed and lightly punched him in the stomach. Shaking my head, we said our goodbyes, till I could hear a familiar voice yelling nearby.

"Logan!!," I turned my head to see Hunter rushing down the block.

Darn it, what was I going to do? I had almost forgotten that Logan and Hunter were best friends. Logan is the one who told me about the job, which is why I started working here. Option one I could run away now, so that I won't have to deal with him. Or option two I could stand here, strongly and ignore him. I mean, despite the fact he still held some of my belongings, we now had nothing to do with each other. Maybe he won't notice me since my clothes were different.

"Um don't tell him I'm here," I told Logan.

"Why?," he asked.

"Please," I plead.

He sighed and nodded his head. I sat at a table in front of the store and turned my face away from them.

Through my ears I could hear Hunter ask, "have you seen Mina?"

"I think I saw someone who looked like her. Why? Wasn't she home and you know she quit working her?," said Logan.

"Well, she was a home but, we had a minor disagreement and she stormed off," stated Hunter.

Wow was he such a good liar, I would even believe him. I guess this was why it was so easy for him to deceive me this long and get away with it.

"Okay, I got to get back to work," said Logan going back into the cafe.

Thanks Logan and finally, I thought to myself, Hunter should be leaving soon. But, instead I could hear his footsteps coming closer to me. Does he know it's me? I hope not, I really don't want him to ruin my mood.

Coming closer, I could hear him almost whisper the words, "hey baby."
