11 Find A Job

I wanted to kick her in the head. She turned to me, smiled, winked and turned back to Jace. She was playing matchmaker.

Thankfully he refused her invitation, saying "he had a lot of unpacking to do" and turning to me "see you later Mina."

First he pretends not to know me and now he is signalling me out.

Closing the door, Emilia looking disappointed, turned to me with a devilish smile and says "I know."

"You know what," I asked.

"I saw," she said sing songy. Did she see him kiss me.

"But, it wasn't my fault, he just kissed me for no reason," I said.

Her eyes light up, "ah hah!!! I knew something happened." I just told on myself again.

"It's not what you think, he just helped me out, when I was in a tough situation the other night," I replied.

"What's happened?" Emilia asked. "Well, I kinda got mugged by two guys and he helped me get away from them," I said, feeling embarrassed.

"Why didn't you tell me? Are you ok? Let go to the hospital" she said worriedly, gripping my arm and pulling me to the front door.

Pulling my arm from her hand, "no I'm fine, he took me to me the hospital yesterday, and he's the one who bought these clothes for me, since my belonging where left behind."

"Oh my gosh, I'm so glad you're okay," she said, hugging me tightly.

Letting go of me she said, " you know what this means right?" I shook my head no.

"A broken hearted damsel in distress, gets saved by her prince, prince finds the girl, they share a passionate kiss, they fall in love… Oh Mina. your life is like a romance novel" she said satisfied.

"Hahaha. Yeah right. More like girl gets cheated on, harassed, and gains a stalker who moves next door to her." I said.

"Oh Mina, let me tell you about love," she said giggling. "Like you would know," I said giggled.

That night, I forgot about my worries and really appreciated having someone to laugh with.

The next morning Emilia left really early, saying she had some important work to do at her father's company. All she told me was that it was a simple technology company, but based on the size of her house, it was clearly more complex than she had told me. I didn't tell her that I owed someone money or that half of my belongings were sitting in some alleyway, not because I was embarrassed but because I didn't want to burden her or feel indebted to her. This was one problem I wanted to fix by myself. So, it was very helpful to me, that she'd be out all day, because I had to work in the evening, it would give me enough time to search for my second part-time job. I never thought, I'd have to say that sentence. When me and Hunter started thinking about having a long-term relationship, he told me that I didn't need to work, that he'll pay for anything that I wanted or needed, that he just wanted to spend as much time with me as possible. Thankfully, I wasn't naive enough to put all my financial trust in him.
