12 Back To Work

Searching for a good paying job is hard for a girl with no college education. I mean, I have many skills that I developed throughout my various hobbies, so I wasn't entirely useless. It was just that each job had wanted me to have at least two years of college. Another thing thanks to Hunter, he wanted me to be a homemaker, but really it was me who made the decision not to go. The time flew so fast, that I had to hurry up and head out, otherwise I would be late. I knew Logan also had work today, so I asked him to bring me to work. I grabbed my things and sat out on the front stairs of Emilia's house. Soaking in the sun, I was grateful she let me stay here and longed for my own place to call home. Snapping out of my depression, was the sound of Jace saying my name. He wore casual clothes, that clung nicely to his body.

"Hello Mina," he said from over the tiny fence separating the house.

My face reacting before I could speak, I was blushing, I replied looking down, "good morning."

"Don't you think it's a little too late to be saying gooding morning?," he chuckled.

Unconsciously I giggled, what the heck was wrong with me?

"So are you headed somewhere?," he asked.

"I'm going to work," I said.

"At this time, do you want me to give you a ride," he asked.

"No thanks, I already called my friend to give me a ride," I replied. Why was I answering him?

"Is this friend a guy," he asked.

His question catching me off guard, I just looked at him. With him giving me a stern look, I said, "yeah, we work together, but we are just good friends."

With a nod of the head, he headed back inside his house. Feeling like I had been holding my breath, I let out a huge sigh. Why did I feel the need to explain this to him, in the first place, I thought to myself. Was it because of the kiss?

Logan texted me saying that he was sorry and he couldn't pick me up, so I ending calling a cab. I was happy that I made it to work on time and was greeted at the door by the manager.

"Good evening, Mina," said the manager.

"Good evening, Mr. Manager," I said. I scanned the room and noticed that there were less workers today.

"Oh many people called off this evening, because of the storm tonight, I thought I'd have to call off."

I got my phone and texted Emilia, asking her if she would pick me up after my shift was over. Walking to put on my uniform, it felt as if I never left and I quickly got back into my routine. Because of the oncoming storm and the short blasts of heavy rain there were barely any customers coming. Soon the other workers left one by one all saying that needed to get home to their families. Looking at my phone, I noticed that she hadn't replied, so I sent the same message to her. Sighing loudly, I laid my head on the table I had just finished cleaning.

The manager came from the back, "Mina, your still here, I thought you had left."
