6 Watching from the sidelines

Bain was honestly starting to feel a bit like a creeper. He just couldn't help himself. This sly little fox was setting up one of the best shows he had ever seen. Not flawless, but certain to catch her prey unawares. It had almost tricked him when two illusions of the same person had popped out. He had definitely followed one of the illusions for an hour before he realized that it wasn't the real fox. Trying to track her back down was extremely difficult too. She had walked all over the city, her scent was all over the city. When he finally found her, she was in a disgusting ally, dragging goblin bodies to the crime scene in the woods. He was having a hard time not bursting out into laughter when he realized that she wasn't just going to bring the murderous couple to justice for cheating on her, she was also going to frame them for treason. By targeting the princess of the Kitsune, and using goblins the foulest, greediest creatures on earth to do so. Well to say they were unlucky is an understatement. From what he knew of the kitsune tribe, their laws indicated they would be put to death by torture. He grimaced thinking of the mercilessness of the little kitsune. I will not get on her bad side Bain thought to himself as he trailed her back toward her home. As she jumped into her bedroom he sighed, wondering what her next action would be in this twisted plot of hers. As he realized she was actually staying within her bedroom this time, Bain moved off towards his camp within the woods. As he thought about the devious fox and her schemes he moved around camp, setting up the fire pit and lighting a fire. He brought rations out of his storage ring, warming them over the fire he settled back. Munching on his dinner, Bain thought about his infatuation with this little fox. It was odd he admitted to himself. He had always despised the kitsune for their trickery and shifty ways. But now he seemed to be pulled in by this young, naive fox with her schemes and plots. He wanted to meet her he admitted to himself. If only to get this fascination out of his blood. That settles it, he thought, tomorrow I will introduce myself to her. Tag along with her for a bit, if only so she can ruin these thoughts of her. He was tired of watching from the sidelines. With this thought Bain unrolled his sleeping bag. He tucked in close to the dying embers of the fire, falling into a deep sleep. The next morning Bain dunked himself in the stream near his camp. He washed his hair with the homemade soap he had in his storage ring, putting the rest up. He then rinsed off thoroughly. Looking at his reflection he realized he had grown stubble within the last 24 hours. Deciding he needed to look his best for his sly little fox Bain took out his razor. After shaving he still had a 6 o'clock shadow on his chin, but oh well. There was nothing he could do about it. Bain sat down, trying to calm his nerves. He suddenly realized he was nervous. Nervous to meet the little fox he had been stalking over the past two days. He shook himself. That's ridiculous Bain thought, there's no way that I could be nervous to meet someone as young and inexperienced in the ways of the world like this little fox. Yet here he was trying not to stress out about if he had shaved close enough to the skin, or if he had combed his hair, or if his breathe smelled ok. Looking down Bain studied his complexion. His Red eyes glowed with an eerie light. As a dark elf Bain stood out on this side of the world. He was used to his dark homeland on the boarders of the Black Mountain range. His pointed ears had silver hoops crisscrossing along them, and his sharp canines peeked out, barely grazing his lower lip. Bains skin was colored like honeyed almonds, with the darkest shade of red hair. His muscled body weighed in at 240 pounds, all sheer muscle,he stood in at 6.4 ft. Over all Bain thought he was alright looking. He was no noble of his tribe, just a lowly warrior. Right now he wasn't even sworn in to a clan as a protector. No, right now he was out on his warriors pilgrimage. A stupid right of passage, he wasn't allowed to come home until he had found his mate. In the dark elf clans, women were scarce and it wasn't unheard of to bring home a different species of woman as your destined mate. Bain laughed at himself, yea right. As if he would ever willingly mate someone that he had to spend eternity with. Scoffing at the very thought Bain checked his reflection one more time. Good to go he thought to himself, then he started heading into the spiral city.
