Discoveries and new mission

A few weeks passed.

Katsuo has restarted his routine of hunting cursed spirits during the night to refill his pill stock and has made all kinds of discoveries about his technique.

Due to being able to use his [Pill Creation] with high-precision CE control, he could now sense what caused the pills to have random different effects.

The origin of those differences were the micro-changes that happened in his technique when he executed it, which happened before because of his lack of control over CE and caused those micro changes to happen randomly.

So, with now precise and careful control over these micro-changes, Katsuo could now steer the pill creation process to obtain the effects he desired.

Just that had already made Katsuo's night but Katsuo's discoveries didn't end there.

When he first used [Absolute Refinement] on a curse, it also absorbed some of the environmental CE in the progress, which improved the quality of the pill, however, it wasn't enough to increase its grade, so Katsuo began experimenting.

Using [Absolute Refinement] on the environmental CE, Katsuo made pills of concentrated CE, but only until grade two were created because the time - environmental CE concentration ratio involved in the creation was inversely proportional and he didn't want to waste a lot of time on the experiment, so he also used his own CE to make the pills of concentrated CE, since the product of either way seemed to be the same.

Katsuo went searching for a cursed spirit to experiment on and soon found and captured a grade four curse.

He used [Absolute Refinement] on it while crushing a grade two pill of concentrated CE and observed the process.

Looking at the curse instantly condensing into a pill and the swirling black CE that had belonged to a pill of concentrated CE moments before, Katsuo had an unrelated thought that his [Pill Creation] had really neat special effects.

The refining process had finished and he observed that only a small part of the black CE that belonged to the crushed pill had been absorbed, which allowed Katsuo to begin formulating a theory.

Katsuo continued capturing cursed spirits of various grades and conducted multiple tests, and in the end, Katsuo concluded that he could enhance a pill by the maximum of one grade.

That occurred by sacrificing a pill of concentrated CE with one grade superior to the original grade of the pill he wanted to enhance while executing [Absolute Refinement].

Only in that way could he have the best result.

Due to all those discoveries, the fact that he could even make special grade pills of concentrated CE thanks to his immense CE, and the "abundance" of curses on the streets, his growth experienced a great spike, especially in the physical department, which had stagnated because of the lack of pills with the right effects and grade, which wasn't a problem anymore.

At this moment, Katsuo's physical body had taken another big leap and he was starting to understand superman's feeling of everything around him being made of cardboard, and he still hadn't outgrown grade one pills.

Katsuo had never felt better.

His friends and classmates had also experienced various degrees of growth.

Maki had almost achieved the state of having absolutely zero CE and already started to attune and sharpen her senses to CE, which already had some success, proof of her even more intense than before commitment to training.

Panda didn't show any big change because, as he explained, even though his cores got stronger, that by itself wouldn't make a big difference.

It had to be accompanied by communication between them so that all the cores could understand the changes in each other and learn from them, which he said was the best way for him to grow, and that even though it took some time, that was also already being shortened because the bonds between the cores were also enhanced, meaning that the communication between them was faster.

Toge could be said to be the one who benefited the most, again.

It seemed that Katsuo's pills had the best effect on "normal" sorcerers.

Due to Toge's strengthened body, he could use his normal powers without basically tearing his throat apart, and that also made him able to use more powerful commands, which motivated him to work even harder on his CE manipulation, to diminish their strain on his vocals.

Today was a school day, and Gojo was teaching.

For some reason that Katsuo didn't understand, Gojo was explaining the world of curses outside of Japan, which wasn't what Gojo usually taught.

He explained, or bragged, that he sometimes had to make trips overseas to exorcise some powerful curses that were causing problems to other countries, and that only he, the strongest sorcerer in the world could solve.

As he listened to Gojo's bragging, Katsuo wondered how many times had Gojo saved the world from curses and was curious if he had ever interfered and resolved any human conflicts.

'Why am I thinking that Gojo is some kind of 007, James Bond?'

Even though Katsuo found his thought to be funny, he also aspired to become like Gojo.

A "hidden" pillar that supported humanity's peaceful existence with its overwhelming might, but that might have been his inner edge lord talking.

Gojo told them various trivia about the cultures and sorcerers of the rest of the jujutsu world, which Katsuo found to actually be very interesting.

The lesson ended and Gojo, with his usual carefree expression, said.

"Katsu-chan, a new mission was assigned to you."

Katsuo wasn't expecting but he was very interested.

"Can you give the details this time, Gojo-sensei?"

Gojo laughed and Maki spoke over it.

"We will be waiting outside, Katsuo."

Katsuo nodded and as his three classmates exited the classroom, Gojo began explaining.

"The mission was actually assigned to me, but I think that you are ready, so I'm assigning it to you."

Katsuo was speechless for a while but didn't think it was weird, since it was Gojo that was saying it.

"What kind of mission we are talking about."

Gojo leaned against the wall and spoke.

"Well~, two Imaginary Vengeful Cursed Spirits that were sealed a long time ago are on the verge of escaping their seal, so someone has to go there and sealed them back or completely exorcising them. Normally, I would take care of them but then I thought, don't I have a cute student who could exorcise them by himself and possibly benefit from it."

Katsuo was somewhat taken back, after all, Imaginary Vengeful Cursed Spirits are curses that are born of the fear of the masses and have diverse power levels. They could be between strong special grade and very strong special grade and Katsuo would have to exorcise two.

However, thinking about the possibility of turning them into pills, Gojo's confidence in him, and the fact that Gojo would take care of it in case he failed, made Katsuo feel very tempted so he answered.

"Alright, Gojo-sensei. I accept it."

Gojo smiled widely and said.

"I knew you would. Then get ready. Tomorrow morning you leave to Mexico's capital, Mexico City."

After hearing that, Katsuo didn't know what to say.

He thought that the mission would be in Japan, which wasn't the case, however, he actually wasn't uneasy about it, he even felt enraptured by the thought of it.

Katsuo also finally understood why Gojo talked about the outside jujutsu world in today's class.

'It seems I'm headed for America then. I have to call my family.'
