7 The Journey to the Academy

The first day away from home was something new to the group of children but the guards told them that it is something that they would have to get use to. On the way to the academy they haven't gone past anything that the 2 guards couldn't handle, so Ben decided that he wouldn't show his powers unless he needed to or, if he could, do so stealthily.

Only after about 4 days did anything major happen and that was when a level 3 creature was hanging around the camp at night. Ben was on the night watch with one of the guards and that was when a half-man half-dog like creature came close enough that Ben could see.

After a quick fight with the kobold which took Ben seconds to finish with stats that are more than double the kobolds.

After the fight he used the Devourer's craving to take the kobolds stats and fortunately got the cooking skill because none of the people he was traveling with were good at cooking. After the skill his stats were like this

The monsters gave Ben a hefty boost on his stats. With that the most eventful thing that happened during the whole 2 week journey that the group had to take.

On the last day of the journey a couple hours away from the city that housed the academy the group stopped in their tracks at the sight of the massive metropolis in comparison to their dainty village.

The group made their way to the city and at the city gates the grouped were stopped by armed guards.

"Papers."(city guard)

"Here are ours but the children don't have any yet because they haven't been out of the village yet. They are here to enroll at the academy."(group guard)

After the group entered the city they felt like they had been stuck in a well all these years for not being able to see the majesty of the outside world. The city was perfect for 5 of the 8 people in the group. The last three knew that with the increase in the size of a city, so does the violence and political strife.

When they got to the academy entrance where they were to be enrolled more guards stopped them but these guards were mages not soldiers. The same type of crystal orb that the village had but larger was placed right next to the guards.

The group proceeded to do the test and when it was Ben's turn his magic output with the Perfect Control Skill.

After the test only 2 failed to get in so the village guard brought them back to the village. Continuing on the group got enrolled and they began their academy lives.
