9 Reversed quest (1)

I finally arrive at the adventurer's guild. For once, it's a rather normal building without any shining objects on it, I really feel better here but I guess I should get used to the shining stuff if I'm playing the rich guy.

I open the door and find quite a cozy feeling. It's not very different from the inn apart from the adventurers discussing together, a lot of them aren't acting very polite too but that's normal.

I look around a little and find the board where quests are listed to adventurers, there's quite a lot of people around it, probably because they need to think about doing a quest weaker or stronger than them.

I should not be disoriented here since it's a lot like what games usually do in guilds, yeah, my life was sad so games were good for me, I could find virtual friends that followed me even if I changed country just by downloading the game played on a computer.

I approach the counter where employees are either taking breaks or talking with adventurers. Most of them are females but there is stil 2 or 3 male ones.

I walk towards a counter that was free where an employee was waiting.

"Hello, what can I do for you ? Is it to register at the guild ?"

I still have my hood on, I won't reproduce what happened at the inn in an even poorer place, I think they do not see nobles very often in the midle area so I don't want to cause trouble for nothing.

"Ah- no, I just want informations on adventurers here please."

"What kind of informations ?"

"Um, like ranking systems or stuff like that."

She told me everything I wanted; Adventurers are divided through 7 ranks starting by copper, followed by iron, silver, gold, Mythril, Orichalcum and S-Class.

S-class are apparently what the heroes in the Yarusen neighboring Kingdom are, they are said to be equal to several multiple mid class to high class dragons depending on whether they are Disaster Class or weaker.

Monsters are divided in a more complicated way; They often start by being rank 1 to 10, but others stop at rank 5 or are directly stronger than that.

The monsters stronger than that are divided by 3 ranks; Danger, Disaster and Calamity.

Adventurers are apparently paid depending on the items brought or the monsters exterminated, a failure will cost a fee but it is still better than dying.

They can raise their rank by either completing many quests of their rank plus a quest a rank higher or pass a rank up test.

As I finished talking with the employee, I walk towards the quests board.

Many adventurers are looking at me, obviously because a newcomer with such beautiful cape and clothes don't come often to take a look at the quests I guess.

"Oi, rich one ! those quests are not for newcomers !"

And obviously, a guy calls out to me. At first glance, a warrior who has well developed muscles, a sword at his waist and 3 party members with him.

"Those are for gold rank adventurers, there's nothing for you here."

"I know. I just wanted to take a little look."

I already got what I wanted, so I got out of the guild and went back to the inn.

As I opened the door, I found the usual scene, though, the annoying man saw me too.

"Ei, Reyn, are you coming to the royal ball tomorrow ?"

Ei ? He's changing somehow.

Still, royal ball ? Are you going to get me in trouble with the princess again ?

"I don't know of it. What is this royal ball ?"

"Ah- You're quite rich but you don't even know that..."

So being rich equals to being smart to you !?

"It's an annual ball held every year by the king. Nobles can enter it freely and rich people can enter it paying a fee."

"And what does everyone do in it ?"

"Well, it's a ball, so they dance, eat, drink and talk together. Like every ball I know, haven't you participated in one once ?"

The only ball I went to was either at my graduation at school or when the work of my adoptive dad held one, but I guess it counts ?

"I did... So, do you expect me to go ?"

"Why wouldn't you go ? There's gonna be the first princess there !"

And here we go again.

Go get her for you instead of me man.

"I told you already, I'm not yearning for her. Also, 'first' princess ?"

"Oh you didn't know ? The second princess is a little younger than her, while the first holds the royal elements and light element , the second holds the royal elements and the dark element. Will you perhaps go get the younger one Reyn ?"

"I am not going for a younger one either !"

On the other hand, what was the chance of having a daughter of the Light element plus 4 other and the other having the same but with the dark element instead ? I'm sure they could win in every casinos in the world at this point.

"Feel free to decide, it begins a little while before noon, it is held directly in the castle."

Well, even though I don't really like balls, I guess it could lessen a bit of my stress, so I think I will go.

I headed to my room having finished to talk with 'Lark'.
