Lights of the hospital

The clock on the wall to Aki's left tik tokes as time went by. There was a highschool boy sitting across him, an old lady fiddling with the remote to the TV on the table and a receptionist flipping through a folder. Aki glances to his right to see Haruki typing furiously on his phone. He's probably venting to Levi about Aki and how much he makes him stress. To Aki's left was Hiroto, his head bouncing forwards each time he dozed off to sleep. Haruki had asked Hiroto to leave the moment they arrived at the hospital, but Aki was quick to cling onto him and cry his eyes out.

Aki shifts in his seat and Haruki immediately turns to him. "You okay?"

"I'm fine," Aki replies, leaning closer to Hiroto. "I feel better when he's next to me."

Haruki eyes Hiroto suspiciously before turning back to his phone. It's been almost two hours since they had arrived in emergency and they were yet to be attended to. Aki was tired and wanted to get some rest, but the seats were too uncomfortable for him to sleep on them.

"How much longer will we have to wait?" Aki almost jumps when Hiroto whispers into his ear, his hands coming to curls around Aki's. He rests his head on Aki's shoulder and sighs. "This isn't exactly how emergencies should be dealt with."

Aki looks down at how his limbs were tangled up with Hiroto's. "You're surprisingly a lot more affectionate than I thought you would have been."

Hiroto tilts his head up to meet Aki's eyes, his own looking tired and dull. "I'm quick to resort to skinship. Also, it's cold. I didn't know how long hospital queues were."

"Have you never visited the hospital?" Aki asks, curious as to how someone as big as him hadn't experienced this before. Aki had spent most of his childhood in the hospital, leading to him being acquainted with all the staff. They knew him by name and all the things he liked. Even when he entered the building a few hours back, one of the nurses that took care of him had dropped by to hand him a drink.

Hiroto shrugs before leaning closer to Aki. "We never needed to go to a hospital. We had a family doctor who would do check ups for us. On top of that, I've always been a pretty healthy child."

"Lucky," Aki sighs, envious of what a peaceful childhood it sounded like Hiroto had had. "I had to go back and forth from the hospital. Of course, we have a private doctor as well, but at times where she's busy we've had to sit through long queues like this, especially since my parents didn't like spending money on me."

"What comes, do you get sick easily?" Aki's glad Hiroto doesn't comment on the last part of his sentence.

"Not exactly," he replies. "It's not just a simple fever that I'm talking about. As you know, I'm an omega and my body apparently isn't fully," Aki pauses to make a gesture which causes Hiroto to laugh. "It isn't fully developed."

"Fully developed?" Hiroto reaches over for Aki's stomach and pokes it. "Does that relate to how you couldn't control your pheromones omission?"

"Probably," Aki answers, placing his hand over Hiroto's and resting it upon his stomach. "Before I started my treatment, no one could even smell my pheromones. Most people thought I was a beta."

Haruki suddenly stands up and turns to Aki. "I'm going to be right back." He averts his eyes to Hiroto and squints."You better not do anything weird while I'm gone."

As Haruki hurries down the corridor and turns the corner, Hiroto chuckles softly. "What exactly is your brother so concerned that I would do? We've already done worse than he can imagine."

Aki hums in agreement as he stares in the direction Haruki had disappeared towards. Just as he's about to look away, he feels something soft against his neck. "What the—"

Hiroto's hand comes to silence Aki as he bites down on his neck. Aki reaches up to stop him when the boy opposite him shifts in his sleep. His earphones were plugged in, but he was directly in front of Aki.

"What are you doing?" Aki whispers, looking around to make sure no one has seen them.

Hiroto licks behind his ear before kissing his cheek. "Trying to do something that'll piss your brother off when he sees it."

Aki's hand jerks up to his neck and he pulls his phone out to see what he meant. "Why are you purposely making my brother suspicious of you?"

"He seems like the type of person to never have had any fun before," Hiroto sighs, looking over Aki's shoulder to see Haruki making his way back. "Speak of the devil…"

"They're calling you in," Haruki says, grabbing Aki's hand. He pulls him up and starts guiding him through the hallways. Hiroto wasn't far behind, making sure he didn't create too much space between them for Aki's pain to get triggered again.

Haruki opens the door to one of the rooms and the three of them enter slowly. There's a guy sitting by a desk with his monitor on. He looks half asleep but the moment he sees them his expression completely changes. "Come in, come in. Take a seat."

Aki sits down and looks around the room. It was pretty plain, he didn't expect much in the first place. He reads the name on the doctor's table, Masamune Chiaki. It's a bit of a feminine name for a male doctor, but Aki chooses to ignore it.

"So, what's wrong? How do you feel?" Aki directs his attention back to the doctor and sighs.

"Whenever I'm far away from Hiroto," Aki points at him so the doctor knew who he was talking about. "My stomach hurts like crazy and I feel sick, almost as if I was in my heat. But the moment he's back in my sight and beside me, everything goes back to normal."

"How long has this been happening for?" Chiaki hums and turns to his monitor, clicking away at something.

"Only started happening earlier today," Aki explains. Now that he had said it out loud, it sounds pretty stupid that something like this was happening to him. What could the problem be? Perhaps it had to do with Hiroto's pheromones.

Chiaki nods before standing up. "I just need to examine you for a moment, can you step behind this curtain for me?"

Aki follows the doctor to the other corner of the room and he pulls the curtain close. Hiroto taps on his foot and steals glances at Haruki before realising the other guy was glaring at him. They hear Aki start complaining about the pain he felt since he couldn't see Hiroto anymore, but Chiaki reassures him that it would only take a moment.

The curtain gets pulled back and Aki rushes to Hiroto's side, collapsing on the seat next to him in relief. "This is so annoying."

"It'll get better soon, don't worry," Hiroto replies, patting his head. The doctor tells them to wait a few minutes as he leaves the room to check something.

"Do you plan on telling father about this?" Haruki asks when silence overcomes them. Aki perks up and shakes his head. There was no way he could tell his dad. It was already a pain being the only omega in a house full of alphas, telling his dad he was struggling with something would only make their relationship even rockier. "You think you can hide this from him? If there's something wrong with you then we'll have to tell him."

"No!" Aki is quick to say, his heart beat fastening at the thought of consulting his dad about this. Leaving the house was stressful enough, being refused medical help would be worse. "He'll just get annoyed that I'm causing trouble as per usual and things will only get worse at home."

"That's not true," Haruki says, but both Aki and Hiroto can hear how his voice wavers. Even though he doesn't have any faith in their dad, nonetheless he continues to suggest the idea. "You never know unless you tell him."

Aki chooses to ignore Haruki and focus on the Chiaki, who re-enters and awkwardly looks around at the tense atmosphere. They spend some time in silence before the Chiaki turns to them, clearing his throat nervously when they all look over at him.

"Regarding the pain you've been feeling for some time now," the doctor glances back at his screen, almost as though he was confused that what it said was true. "It seems that the source of that is from something that you're body can't seem to handle properly."

"It can't handle it?" Aki questions, confused as to what the doctor meant.

"What I mean is," he cracks a small smile that comes out as a grimace as he says, "Congratulations? You're pregnant."
