1 Edward Stood Me Up

Cathryn's body clock usually starts at eleven o'clock in the morning and ends up at four o'clock at dawn.

Yup.

Anyone who would know her nocturnal lifestyle would tell her she would die early. But nobody is secretly praying for her death, right?

No need to worry. She was one of the sleepless elite. She will survive. That's what was she had been doing recently. Surviving. BARELY.

That's why she was here at a beach on a Sunday at an ungodly hour of seven in the morning, drinking black coffee in huge gulps. The dark and hot bitter liquid scalding her tongue would have kept her awake rather than the doses of caffeine itself.

Cathryn was way past groggy. She was irritable.

Especially when Edward, her best friend who was supposedly her tattoo model in this Summer Henna Ink Contest with $5,000 as the first prize, was busy at the moment and not FUCKING ANSWERING HIS PHONE.

Oops. Sorry about that. Being a redhead would be enough to excuse her cursing. It's a bad habit of hers. And redheads, such as her, were famous for having a wild temper.

The sun's rays which were already past the Vitamin D time range was beating down on her back as she sat on the bench, repeatedly dialing and calling her best friend. The phone rang on and on and then it went unavailable.

"Come on, Edward," She muttered, biting her fingers anxiously as she let out another string of curses that would put sailors to shame. "I'll find you and kill you if you don't answer this one."

Unfortunately, her threats haven't reached him not even a little. Not working. Nadda.

Cathryn exhaled loudly, shut her eyes tight, and bit her lip to stop herself from cursing. She willed herself to relax.

Just think about the money, she told herself.

Cathryn stood up and clenched her fists, her eyes darting from left to right like a madwoman. People, especially random men walking past her, were starting to get suspicious.

She was scanning the area hurriedly looking for men with broad shoulders, ripped abdomens, and muscled thighs that would make females in the vicinity swoon if painted with henna.

She needed to get a replacement for Edward.

First off, she was at the beach. She needed to get closer to the waves. Maybe she would find hot, sizzling, yummy lifeguards there. If she was lucky maybe they'd be single too.

Not.

All the hot yummy guys are taken, you know. If not, they were either bisexual or gay especially the one whom she was so angry at the moment.

Later, perhaps she could snap his pr*ck into two like a twig if ever he made the mistake of still coming here despite being late.

Cathryn put her rose-colored fashion sunglasses on, grabbed her bag from the bench, and strut off as she swung her hips like a runway model.

Operation Manhunt.

It's showtime.
