22 First mission with the league

Where was I?

Oh, yeah!

Three out of three.

Great.

"So, we welcome you into our league." Mister Bad touch said while scratching his neck and looking like he was already regretting his decision to invite me. "The next step to my plan is..."

I could only mentally sigh as he decided to make a dramatic pause before stating. "... to regain the army I've spent so much time recruiting. We will be attacking the Special Prison Tartarus!"

That caught my attention, the League never bothered to rescue its captured members.

Especially this early. I mean, Shigaraki still sees the league members as his pawns.

First the extra Nomu, now this?

...

Interesting.

"Interesting, why would a bunch of henchmen be sent there? I assumed that place was considered as an option only for the high rank villainous criminals." I remarked.

"And you are correct Mister Stain! But you see, given their association with our league and the existence of our strongest members, the authorities concluded it would be the most reasonable choice to allocate them somewhere of high security."

"For interrogation purposes?" I guessed and Kurogiri simply nodded in affirmation.

I turned to the supposedly leader of the league and said. "I wanna hear your plan."

Still not used to my imperative tone, he muttered a little before proceeding. "The prison's island is intentionally distanced from civilization due to the danger its inmates may pose to civilians and is supposedly to possess the highest security standard possible. Kurogiri will provide us a way in, an I will deal with any barrier standing on our way."

Since the big boss didn't speak in disapproval, I can safely assume that he already knew about it and didn't plan to intervene.

Shigaraki will deliver the chaos he's expecting by whatever means he finds necessary.

However, the big boss has a history of simply letting his sith apprentice to miserably fail only to rescue him if he gets himself in trouble.

"What's the matter... hero killer? Already having second thoughts?" Shigaraki teased me.

I only shifted my gaze towards him and said. "I'm waiting to hear when we start."

He grinned under the hand grabbing his face. "Tonight."

"So be it." I remarked before turning to Kurogiri. "You, take me back to Hosu. I still have some unfinished business there."

"As you wish." The misty figure nodded and opened a warp gate to me.

——————————————————————

Since taking the mantle of Stain, I have made myself busy.

Though I still continued exerting violence against those I found guilty or at least deserving of it, my targets had somewhat shifted.

Petty and vain heroes would still agonize thanks to my blades and fists. But I was now going up in ranks and scale substantially.

While before, Stain had results by simply crippling and killing whoever was unlucky enough to cross his path, I aimed to hunt bigger fish.

While some of my heroic clones gained face with the public by paying some attention and respect to some lower-income areas, I was the one in charge of taking out the filth.

The fact that Trigger was getting popular on the streets was only a bigger incentive, and also a welcome challenge to keep me entertained.

When it came to pro heroes that were inclined to cross the line towards criminal behavior to achieve popularity and fortune more even than Endeavor himself did, I didn't hold back.

There were definitely fates worse than death, and I wanted to make sure to present it to them.

But taking a page from Stain's beginning of career, I also purged the criminal scum that evaded justice.

Through everything I was learning with Edgeshot and had learned with La Brava, I was swiftly taking names from a hit list that I've made after nights of hacking and detective work.

To the authorities, I was kind enough to leave behind something to put my brutalized targets behind bars.

There was once a heroine, which name I didn't bother to remember, that had the audacity to argue that she had the right to cash in with stopping crimes that she herself committed.

Oh, and that crook that had been subtly ruling over a neighborhood with an iron fist thanks to a reliable source of trigger to boost his and his henchmen's pathetic quirks.

Disappointingly, I haven't come across a single quirk that picked my interest.

My targets mostly had some type of physical augmentation or some simple construct generation.

Not to mention that the mutant types were awfully common around the criminal lot.

Though a good one was "Memory recall", an excellent way to help me remember some songs from my past life. Even better, it was mutant type.

For now it and "photographic memory" will have to do before I manage to crack the principal's "high specs".

Can't forget that "hardened light" allowed me to make my own lightsaber and shoot blasts from my fingertips whenever I wanted.

Kinda like the air daggers that I've managed to make with a student from class 1B quirk.

Still, the grim reality of some areas was a little too cartoonish for me to believe at first.

Especially with the common sense around the civilian ms being that regular crime factions weren't a crime anymore.

Despite Hosu in particular having regular areas that showcased that it was indeed a larger and populated district, there were others places where the police and even mid rank heroes of the area avoided.

Those were the places where I almost left completely covered in blood.

For today though, before the main event tonight, I wanted to get rid of a pest that I had been tracking for quite some time now.

——————————————————————

I had been roaming the rooftops for half an hour before reaching my destination.

Thanks to my mastery with subtle use of quirks, especially OFA, I had the city as my playground without risking exposing myself.

From the rooftop of the tallest building in the neighborhood, I watched the streets with a menacing smile.

During the day, most criminals either decided to stay low or to steal and hide fast before drawing too much unwanted attention.

But the heroes had more nerve and felt safe from any punishment.

A few blocks from me, I spotted a fairly normal hero agency.

It was the headquarters of the Blizzard group, led by the climate hero: Tempest.

He wasn't strong by any means, neither were his sidekicks.

But that's where the trigger came in.

Just like countless other agencies, this drug was giving ordinary people a way of improving their careers.

But instead of using it to better protect or serve society, these vain pretenders revealed their true nature by taking advantage of others and even oppressing other heroes with smaller influence.

Enough waiting.

I made a run through the rooftop I was standing on and sprung towards the highest window of the complex.

And just as I expected, I had made my entrance directly into the hero's office through its window.

His shocked expression mixed well with his face of terror at recognizing me from the news. "He-hero killer!?"

He moved to open his desk drawer in a desperate attempt.

If this was my previous world, I would expect that he would pull a gun against me.

But here, with quirks being an easy solution to everything, what the pathetic "hero" was going for was a dose of trigger.

I had to fake a slow reaction and missed my aim with my throwing knife intentionally to allow him time to do so.

My opponent smiled in glee as he injected the drug into his system and activated the alarm of his agency.

His sidekicks will be here soon.

"You know, it's a pity that the big bad hero killer is an amateur. I was looking forward to claiming responsibility for taking you out." He boasted before moving his hands in a gesture resembling some kind of martial arts.

But the man was the spitting image of an amateur.

"I will add arrogance to your list of crimes against the title of a true hero." Drawing my katana I faced him. "Prepare to suffer."

"Hahaha! Moronic villain, you will rot in prison after I take you down." He boasted again as a layer of ice began forming all around the office's surface, and the sky outside began to rumble.

Not wanting to waste my time any longer, I charged.

To the fake hero's credit, his quirk was interesting enough to copy, but his skill with it was so subpar that he managed to waste the considerable boost he had received.

My boots had enough grip so that I wouldn't slip, and I had enough understanding of Inasa's quirk to not be affected by the strong wind coming from outside towards me.

I instantly slashed my opponent's hand off and kicked his knee to the side.

"Argh! You bastard!" He shouted to me as he grasped the limb I had just made shorter while kneeling before me. "Die!"

It was then that my subtle use of OFA came in really handy.

The desperate scum had managed to make a lightning burst through the window towards me.

Let me tell you that lightning speed was no joke, being only a third of the speed of light most beings had zero chances of avoiding it.

And about the same chance to survive being struck by it.

With a swift response while being amped with OFA, I carved my sword over his shoulder and jumped backwards.

The sword acted as a lightning rod and attracted the unnatural electrical discharge towards my opponent.

I was proud of that move, even though I could simply use my electrical quirk to ignore the danger, this was much more exciting.

My opponent would've definitely fried to the death if he was a regular human being, but hearing his agonizing screams, I assumed his different physiology had somewhat protected and prevented him from kicking the bucket.

That's the problem with triggers, it may boost your quirk, but doesn't do shit to help you evolve it. Not to mention that it makes it harder to control the power you were already struggling to use before.

That's why OFA acted way better in that regard.

I was standing up again to begin my work with the electrified fake hero, before a barrage of sidekicks burst the door open. "Mister Tempest! What's happening?"

"Ah! It's the hero killer!" Another shouted while pointing at me.

"Look, the boss had been defeated!" A third remarked the obvious again.

I took the mantle of Stain to make his crusade more effective and efficient, but I wouldn't act without thinking.

I wasn't obsessed to the point of punishing even the innocent.

Thankfully, I had made my research.

Every single one of the sidekicks picked a smaller syringe from what their boss had used and applied it to themselves. "Now I will be the one to rule this agency."

"No, I will!" Another shouted.

"Guys, the boss is still alive!" A third remarked before suggesting something. "We should get rid of him and blame it on the hero killer."

"Kill the villain as well!" A woman said before charging.

I couldn't hide my maniacal grin anymore. "Come with everything you got fakes! I will take you all, and cleanse this society from filth like you all."

What came next wasn't anything short of a bloodbath.

Their quirks were quite different from one another, but with every single fighting style that I've been picking up and copying since now, I was their worst nightmare.

Not a single scratch was made on me or my clothes. As for them, the luckiest one lost some teeth and fingers, while others had some limbs severed and were beyond the point of recognition.

At the end, I've managed to clean up an entire agency in less than an hour.

The cops were on their way to take these miserable bastards thanks to my anonymous call while I made the leading hero my punching bag.

Gotta admit, it's kinda nice to let loose once in a while.

Especially when I had to be the perfect successor to All Might's legacy.

And the challenge of avoiding using any quirk ended up being a godsend.

I placed some documents and incriminating evidence like photographs and audio footage behind. After confirming that I had avoided casualties, I left the crime scene.

If these worthless fakes ever dared to avoid prison or returned to their criminal ways after finishing their sentences, I will pay a visit to them.

This time, to finish my work.

——————————————————————

A few blocks away of my previous position, I was running through the rooftops when I spotted my misty companion staring at me.

I diverted my path and approached him. "What's the meaning of this?"

"My apologies mister Stain. I couldn't resist my curiosity to see you doing your work." He humbly replied while bowing a little.

"So..." I relaxed a little. "... your thoughts?" I asked.

"Most impressive. I've never come across an individual possessing such a set of skills while having no..." He trailed off a little in the end.

"No quirk." I completed his sentence and received a nod from him.

"Precisely. Now... the arrangements for tonight's mission are about to be completed." He remarked while opening a warp gate beside us. "Please, follow me."

I just nodded and complied to his request.

——————————————————————

"Took you long enough, hero killer." Bad touch received me with a provocative tone.

"I had my own work to do." I said. "So, shall we?"

"Not yet." Mister handy said. "My Nomus are being dispatched at this exact moment. Just wait a little... The game is about to begin!"

I could only ignore his gaming references and waited while leaning against the wall.

The night came eventually and the three of us band together before crossing Kurogiri's portal.

We were instantly greeted with the view of the infamous prison to super villains from a highpoint of its bridge. The wind was strong and cold up here.

Tartarus.

It was surrounded by massive walls and had an imposing appearance due to its metallic outer shell.

The interesting part was that the alarms were already screaming loudly, and multiple pillars of smoke signaled the multiple places that were already burning.

"It's time, my Nomus are already busy making a distraction. It won't take much before I have my rematch against that cheater." Shigaraki giggled like a child. "Kurogiri, take me to the control room." He ordered. "Hero killer, go ahead and take out the guards. Try finding some of my soldiers while you are at that."

I didn't question him, as soon as Kurogiri opened two portals to us, I leaped through mine with my sword already being brandished in my hand.

——————————————————————

The Nomus were surprisingly well made this time. Not like the ones that Shigaraki had unleashed in Hosu during canon.

Though most of them possessed different grades of regeneration and invulnerability, It was plain obvious to me that the big boss had recovered his strength after all.

Contrary to my assumption, most guards weren't simple quirkless beings. I had faced dozens of mutant types that were almost invulnerable to my blades.

But with a trick I've learned while watching illusionists on tv, I easily "borrowed" an electric baton and a few steel wires from them.

Extra limbs and thicker skin wasn't enough to block my attacks, even with their special gear for protection, I had no problem striking them between their weak spots and trapping them with the steel fibers.

This location made my self imposed effort of not using my quirks more important, since there were cameras everywhere I had to balance my fights to not harm too many innocent guards while still putting on a show for Shigaraki.

Whom I'm sure was taking his time in the control room.

If by any chance he decides to betray me here and leave me behind, he will find out that no prison could hope to defeat or detain me.

I ended up meeting with some Nomus on my way, but thankfully they didn't fight me.

From what I saw, the bird and blind brain Nomus had been already set free and now were aiding with spreading mayhem all around.

Seeing that they didn't recognize me from the U.S.J gave more confidence that Toga's quirk would be more than enough to fool the Big Boss.

I was beginning to wonder if Shigaraki was planning to fight whatever pro hero that might come to defend the prison.

All Might isn't on his best form to come here. But I don't think Shigaraki knows that.

I've finally reached a prison cell with a few prisoners after crossing the maze-like corridors of Tartarus.

After dealing with the automated machine gun positioned on the ceiling with some throwing knives amped with OFA, I electrified the security panel besides the door.

Gotta admit, I thought it only worked in movies.

As soon as the blast door opened up, I saw who the occupants were.

Even though I already knew we were rescuing those that raided the U.S.J alongside Shigaraki. These exact criminals being kept separate from the regular group couldn't be a mere coincidence.

The electrical villain that I've copied was here alongside the waterbender and the invisible chameleon. The one with multiple arms that I've one shot with a flick of my fingers, the chick with drilling pigtails that tried to sneak attack me and the guy with guns in each fingertip that kissed the sole of my foot were here as well.

All of them were heavily restrained, sitting down on a large, high-tech chair with a full-body straitjacket.

They turned to me, with confused expressions.

"Who are you? What the hell is happening?" Demanded the big guy while attempting to break free by himself, only to fail.

"A-are you here to k-k-kill us?" Asked meekly the chameleon dude.

"Are you from the league of villains?" I asked faking ignorance.

"And what if we are?" The unmasked electric villain replied boldly.

"Did that bastard finally send some?" Asked the gunslinger. "Took him long enough."

I sheathed my sword and picked my electrical baton. "I was sent to help you escape."

"Really? I thought we've been abandoned by that handy guy." The chick stated. "So, what are you waiting for? Set us free, there should be some security card with the guards."

With few swift moves, I electrocuted each security panel and cut their restraints that weren't mechanical around the electrical villain.

I wanted to interrogate them regarding their connection, but decided to finish my job here first.

"Thanks, I was getting tired of this place." The water bender thanked me. "So... how will we escape?"

"Follow me." I said before leaving the cell.

Ignoring some complaints from the others I continued to make my way through Tartarus' corridors.

The interior walls were just as heavily armored as the ones from the outside, but the big guy of our group had tried multiple times to make a shortcut for us.

But the others convinced him to just give up and follow me.

Chameleon dude seemed really scared for his life, to the point of annoyance to everyone else.

We reached a point where some robots attempted to stop and capture us, but were quickly dealt with thanks to the group's effort.

After a few minutes having some doors opening and guiding us around, I was about to question what the hell were those two even doing when I spotted some decayed metal doors leading to another section of the prison.

I thought the league's members were all located in section 1-T. I wonder what they might be up to.

Moving onwards, we eventually reached the section where most of the other league's members were being kept.

By the end of my mission, I was leading a group of around seventy individuals.

Me and the large group finally met with Shigaraki in the section's cafeteria area.

But the man-child wasn't alone.

With him he had two high rank villains, infamous for their criminal life.

One was a large, bulky and extremely muscular man set wide with short, spiky blond hair and small black eyes. He had a large scar going across the left side of his face and his left eye had been replaced with a prosthetic one.

The other was a fairly tall man, with fair skin and black eyes. He was wearing a white straitjacket like everyone else, but the metallic muzzle in his mouth had been broken and removed, allowing him to expose his maniacal grin.

Muscular and Moonfish?!

In Tartarus?

Unexpected.

"Welcome back everyone, the league has come to your rescue. Let's regroup so that we can plan our next attack against those heroes." He attempted to make a speech, but clearly both muscular and moonfish weren't paying that much attention.

For them, killing was more than enough motivation. And possibly the only thing they cared about.

Surprisingly, some of the criminals that I've rescued had decided to be foolish enough and argue that they would rather quit the league and be allowed to do as they pleased.

Something about his shit intel researcher the gunslinger ranted. It seems my unnatural appearance hadn't been forgotten.

But the fools were clearly shortsighted, if only they had waited until their escape had been guaranteed.

Shigaraki took the opportunity to test out his newest henchmen. With a simple gesture, but muscular and moonfish moved to attack the group of "traitors".

I had my chance to intervene and make my presence known presented to me.

Stepping forward, I gave them a warning while subtly activating "Blood Curdle" from a distance. "That's close enough."

But both villains ignored my warning after recovering from the momentary paralysis and charged towards me.

"That's quite the bloodlust you have there man. I have to admit that you caught me by surprise." Shouted Muscular. "But now you die!"

"I want to shred you to pieces!" Gushed and moaned Moonfish. "Show me your flesh!"

I threw one of my knives in an instant and before Muscular had the chance to run me over, I slid under him while slicing off the ligaments of his legs.

When the giant man crumbled to the ground, I climbed his back with my knives like the goddamn Kratos and placed both blades against his neck.

Before he attempted anything I activated "blood curled" again. "Move and I will kill you..."

The villain gulped a little.

"Use your quirk against me again and I will kill you..." My knives were beginning to pierce his skin. "Make another sound and I will kill you next..."

You might be wondering why the moonfish wasn't attacking me.

The thing is... he's already dead.

No, seriously. He is.

The knife I threw had pierced his head right in between his eyes.

"If you understand, deactivate slowly your quirk." I said coldly.

I could almost see him cold sweating. Proof of that was his form slowly reducing to its regular size.

I had managed to scare the Hulk.

Excellent.

"What the hell is wrong with you Stain? You've just killed one of our strongest fighters and is threatening to kill another?" Bad touch ranted. "And for what? These traitors to the league?"

"I've come to accomplish my mission." I turned to look at the dead silent group that was staring at me. "I've freed the league you wanted to rescue, just as you've requested." Sheathing back my knives from Muscular's neck, I aided him to get up. "That lunatic was waiting for his execution. I just didn't want to make him wait any longer."

It was then that Kurogiri arrived through a portal.

Noticing Moonfish's dead body on the floor, he was about to ask about it when he recognized the knife stuck between his lifeless eyes. "I've successfully evacuated every single one of the Nomus." He opened another warp gate. "Shall we go now?"

"Tch. Alright, we've cleared this level anyways. Let's go." He remarked before moving to cross the black portal.

I followed his instructions and followed him.

As did all the others.

The last remaining was Muscular, who had been holding his neck with a shocked expression.

It didn't take too much time before he followed us back to our headquarters.

The alarm was still ringing when the number two hero arrived. He had to put out a few fires and recapture some prisoners that the Nomus had unintentionally freed while trashing the place.

Though I presume that Shigaraki hadn't got rid of the video footage from the cameras that recorded our invasion, I think I just reached new heights of infamy.

Good.

And with that, I've concluded my first mission under the league of villains.

Not a bad start, if I may say so myself.

*Hope this chapter is of your liking. Anything you wish to ask, feel free to do so.

Thanks as always for your attention and please be safe.

Any problems with my writing, just point them out and I will correct them as soon as possible.

** Hey there! How's everyone? Enjoying the read?

Can you believe we are about to reach 100k words in this fic?

That's simply breathtaking! I can't thank you enough.

I'm planning to release a few more chapters before completing season two. After that I will take a break and give some love to my other stories.

The next I will be focusing will be the Avatar. It's by far the fic with most views out of my collection.

And after that, I might go to my DC. My readers are unfortunately becoming very impatient with my lack of updates.

My Marvel fic is about to enter an interesting arc.

And my Asoiaf is close to reaching the Greyjoy Rebellion.

As for my Naruto story, it's not because of lack of ideas or interest on my part, it's because of lack of engagement with my readers. At least compared to my other fics.

Finally, the ones programmed for 2021 will soon receive a pilot chapter.

*** I'm I the only one that noticed the sentence "He will meet the three musketeers!"?

😁😁😁😁😁😁
