3 Crossing the threshold

Ok, I've been coming to the beach every day since I made my offer to the duo of gentle criminals two months ago.

As it appears, my plot armor is not that omnipotent.

Because they haven't showed up yet.

Which is a pity.

But curiously, they stopped uploading those bold videos in their channel.

Hope it is a good sign.

Anyways, I've been moving around doing what I could in regards to a hero's job.

I helped clean the city, aided some elders around, walked with some dogs, found some lost cats and things like that.

If it sounds boring to you, it's because it really was.

But admittedly, these small tasks were aiding me to be more popular.

Sure I was nowhere near as popular as a pro hero... but it was already something.

At least, I've found a way of combating crime without breaking any law.

Simply scouting the city and reporting any crimes that I happened to witness.

Things were going relatively well, if I may say so myself.

I've by now strengthened Izuku to the point that he would be above average compared to most people.

I helped him a little with parkour and martial arts. I know I'm no legendary master, but I was a hell of a quick learner.

He kept brainstorming about useful Support Items.

Being the nerd he was, he even managed to fulfill a petition I've made to him.

He discovered... the location and date of U.A's recommendation entrance exam.

It will be in the next few weeks.

So I waited until the day that the test would occur, and then I arrived right after the applicants ended their final test.

The racing.

"By a hair! Number 41 finishes first!" Announced the DJ teacher.

"Alright! I won!" Said a very tall and well built young man with buzzed, dark brown hair and black eyes.

He really is an energetic, hyperactive, and enthusiastic boy that expresses himself with vigor.

"I just have to pass this test. I wasn't competing..." Right there I interrupted Shoto's stupidity.

"Hey there man! Congratulations on your achievement! I have to say, I'm a big fan of your high spirit!" Was my praise to him.

"Yeah! Thanks man! I believe heroes should be hot-blooded!!" Was his reply.

"So, it appears I'll see you in class buddy!" I said wanting to draw a reaction from him.

"Wait, you passed too? That's amazing! But wait... I didn't see you during the written test!"

Bingo! I grinned charismatically.

"You are right, I did not take the recommendation entrance exam. Although I could have, I decided to test myself with all the others. I think I can better show how far that I've reached. So anyways, good job with this victory, dude!! I freakin' love it!! If it's not too much trouble, I'd like to face you in a mock battle in UA!! A pleasure to meet you and... thanks!!!"

I finished with a very respectful bow.

Got to admit though, if not for one for all, all this enthusiastic talk would have tired me long ago.

He simply smiled and yelled! "Of course, see you there then!"

I smiled back and took off to my favorite habitat, the windy sky.

Inasa Yoarashi gasped in awe at my demonstration of power.

It is only natural though, he still is not on the same level as he would be during the license exams.

Anyways, back to doing boring chores until the day of my tests arrived.

———————————————————

8:40 a.m. - The day of the entrance exam.

The hallowed grounds of U.A.

The school with the best hero training course in the world.

The place where every aspiring hero wants to go.

Sure, there are similar programs out there, but they supposedly don't hold a candle to U.A's.

Which is why it's almost impossible to get in.

The school alumni's list is a collection with legendary idols.

All Might, Endeavor, Best Jeanist and so on.

Graduating in U.A. appears to be a big deal if one desires to become a pro hero.

And so, I held my head high and made my way towards the entrance exams.

As I approached the massive structure that was UA High school, a multitude of teens were making their way as well.

I strolled casually among the others participants, while still awaiting the perfect chance to meet a specific person.

After crossing the gate, a slower pace was required.

"Step aside!" He heard someone mutter behind him.

Knowing exactly who it was, I simply side-stepped and turned to look at him.

"Oh, I am really sorry to block your path Bakugou-San." I said it while moving my arms to the side and bowing little, of course, in a mocking tone.

"Tch!" Katsuki immediately gritted his teeth and removed his hands from his pockets in an hostile attitude.

But I decided to disarm the situation and immediately got serious while answering him.

"Now seriously, I wish you good luck for the test. I know you are very hardworking and has the intellect to back your temper. So, I look forward to have classes alongside you."

After calming down, Katsuki simply shrugged and kept walking past me.

After our brief exchange, some students began recognizing us from the sludge villain incident. I got cheers and amazed gasps from most of the other applicants.

And would you guess who decided to talk to me?

One of the best girls.

The one that really reminded me of a minion from that kids movie.

"Hey! It's really you! Nice to meet you, I'm Uraraka Ochako... but my friends calm me Ochako! I mean..." She began talking non-stop until I interrupted her with a raised hand for her to shake.

"A pleasure to meet you!" I said with the best charming smile I had in my arsenal.

By my observation, it worked.

She blushed, more than her usual pinky cheeks, and unconsciously offered her hand as well.

Felling her pinky fingertips touching my skin, and it felt like activating one for all. Thought to a much smaller extent.

Anyways, there I was suddenly feeling weightless when a slight shake of hands was enough to make me float upwards.

And even though I've kept my cool, probably because I was already used to soaring through the skys, Ochako couldn't avoid panicking a little at her slip.

She then instinctively brought her fingertips together and gravity began to acknowledge me again.

If I was an average guy, my descent to the ground would have been awkward.

But being awesome, I just made a flip in the air and fell like Spiderman with both feet and a hand stopping my momentum.

"Sorry! It was my fault, I've accidentally used my quirk on you."

I answered her with my lethal charming smile. "Don't worry, I'm sure this entrance exam must be really nerve racking to some."

"Yeah, it definitely is...hum...exactly what you said..." Was her bashful response.

"Don't worry too much, neither too little. I'm sure all your effort will pay off in the end." I suggest while making eye contact.

"Well, I guess I'll see you inside." I made a move to leave, but before that, I told her with a thumbs up while blinking my right eye. "Work hard!"

And I move towards inside, leaving her stutter while wishing good luck as well.

After a brief walk through the corridors, I've finally reached my destination.

U.A. High School Hero Course, Exam Orientation.

I joined all the others applicants to a large room with a circular shaped configuration of the seats.

And I sat beside Bakugou, who appeared to have decided to ignore me.

After the lights were turned on, our instructor began talking.

"What's up U.A. candidates? Thanks for tuning in to me, your school DJ!" Shouted the eccentric pro hero.

He physically build up the hype while saying. "C'mon and let me hear ya!"

Apologies, but I couldn't avoid the chance of showing myself.

So I stood up, straight and proud, and responded to his attempt of breaking the ice.

"Yeeeaaah! Here for you bro! President Mic! Big fan of your weekly radio show! Keep up the excellent work man!"

And then I returned to my seat, gracefully ignoring everyone's stares with my charismatic smile.

"Wow! Always a pleasure finding a fan! Good luck pal, and keep up the high spirits!" Was the pro hero enthusiastic response.

"Well anyways, in consideration of the other more anxious candidates, I'll skip straight to the main show. Let's talk about how this practical exam is gonna go down, ok?"

He built hype again and shouted. "Are you ready?"

Surprisingly, this time I wasn't the only one to cheer back at President Mic. I've even noticed Kirishima fist bumping himself.

'Ah, the perks of being charismatic!' Was my delighted remark.

"Like the application said, today you rock boys and girls will be out there conducting ten minutes mock battles in super hit modern settings..." And so he continued tanking non stop.

He explained we were going to be separated into multiple groups.

As President Mic kept explaining the three types of targets we were supposed to hunt, pointing out their rewarding points were correlated to their difficulty level, as well warning that attacking other students would result badly for the infractor.

And then... the annoying.

"Excuse me sir, but I have a question!" Said a tall applicant while raising his hand.

"Hit me!" The pro hero stated while the questioning student was illuminated by a light in the ceiling.

"On the print out, you've listed four types of villains! Not three! With all due respect, if this an error on an official UA material, it is shameful! We are exemplary students, and we expect the best from Japan's most notable school. Mistakes such as these won't do!" He blather continuously, to be frank, I really zoned out from his show.

But now, I was actually surprised when he turned to my direction.

Guess he only berated Izuku on the original story, so he could reassure himself as the one taking this more serious than anyone else.

"Additionally, you there with a smug face!"

I couldn't resist grinning back at him.

I need to learn how to restrain these habits of mine.

"You've been acting as if this wasn't relevant to you! It's your problem. But if you can't bother taking this seriously, leave! You are distracting the rest of us!"

I decided to mess with his head.

"Sorry Tenya-San! I didn't intend to distract you in such an important event. Hope you can still perform well. It would be really sad if you disappointed mister Ingenium." I said dismissively.

Hearing my words, the glassed wannabe hero froze right there.

Yeah, I've just reminded him of what he has to live up to. That's right, feel the pressure.

Whilst he made great effort to come up with a response, the others applicants began muttering among themselves.

I could even swear that I heard Bakugou snickering, saying something like "glad I'm not the only one...".

"Alright alright..." And so, the DJ teacher began addressing Iida's doubt while calming the atmosphere.

He presented everyone to the forth villain type, and explained that the zero-pointer was meant to be an obstacle.

Iida could only bring himself to thank the teacher, but he still stared back at my direction.

As the crowd began discussions over this new information, the pro hero concluded.

"All right, that's all I've got for you today! I will sign off with a little present, I sample our school motto! As general Napoleon Bonaparte once laid down: A true hero is one who overcomes life's misfortunes. Uhum... now that's a tasty sound bite. Are you ready to go beyond?"

This man doesn't get tired of hyping up, doesn't he?

"Let's hear a Plus Ultra!...Good luck!..."

...

Yup, the writing test were ridiculously easy.

Now, for the main event.

After a short travel by bus till our training area...

Battle Center B

Facing a huge gate, there I was already getting excited.

I attribute responsibility to my plot armor for this luck of the Irish to be the same spot as Izuko would be.

It is time, the second step to my journey in becoming the world's greatest hero.

"This is nice." ... " It's like a whole city!" ... "Can you imagine how much it cost to..." Were some of the awed gasps coming from my fellow participants.

Looking around I noticed: the giant Mezo Shoji, the peculiar Yuga Ayoyama and even the cute Ochako.

By the way, she was staring back.

Deciding to avoid further disturbing her concentration, I simply blinked my right eye and moved elsewhere.

It appears that most students were appearing to be confident about the test, in some cases, I could even identify some special gears being equipped.

And suddenly, someone grabs my shoulder. Chastising my dumbness for forgetting he was here too.

"Please sir, do not touch me!" I said while grabbing his wrist with a minuscule percentage of one for all.

Click!

I think I've gone a little overboard... damn, I still have to work on it.

"Argh!" Iida cried in pain.

"Apologies, it's just force of habit." I started pretending to be concerned.

"Argh... it's alright. It's my fault...Argh. I-I just wanted to ask you something." He replied, constantly flinching while attempting to stretch his wrist.

Yeah, not gonna use that hand for a while. Thankfully you are a kicker, because your wrist is already swelling.

"Oh, sure! But please, be quick." I concede.

"Ok... I would like to ask you...h-how did you know about my identity?" Was his question.

I simply gave up my effort to avoid grinning and decided to bullshit him.

"How? Hum...It's just a matter of information. You see, I'm very in tune with the Pro Hero World. Frankly, figuring out that a pro hero's family member would be attending UA's entrance exam wasn't a big deal."

"I-I see." He answered, not really understanding my meaning but accepting it nonetheless. "Wait...I know."

"Glad you do. So, allow me to move along. Don't want the others to disturb me. The test is about to begin." I said after turning my back and walking away.

"Right, let's start! Get moving! There is no count down on real life battles! Run..."

As President Mic was announcing, I've already swooshed past the opening gates.

Deciding to make my way above the buildings I began my hunt.

'It's over! I've got the high ground!' I mentally remarked as I started to laugh loudly while soaring throughout the air.

'Ok, I don't know how many robots there are neither I know where they are. I've limited time to search around a vast area.'

I stopped after landing in the highest building around.

My eyes flashed a yellow light and after looking around for area seconds the area landmark was branded in my mind.

This is a quirk I managed to acquire after getting close to a girl back at school.

It is not a high rank by any stretch, but as I already tested, one for all can greatly enhance any quirk as long as I properly focus on it.

And as of now, not only do I know the entirety of the map, but also I've found the closest and largest gathering of robots.

And so I rocketed myself like a bullet through the sky.

As I reached my targeted destination, I hit a 3 pointer like a fucking meteor.

After quickly rising from the crater, I proudly smiled and announced.

"Surrender now villains! Or I'll be forced to make you by force!"

I know it is just a waste of time, but I really wanna make a hell of a good impression on those behind the cameras.

Seeing the robots moving towards me, I continued my show.

With pure power I showcased a glimpse of my combat capabilities.

Shooting past multiple large machines at a single lunge.

Flicking my fingers to turn the medium sizes into chunks of rubble and metallic scraps with my air-ranged attacks.

I wouldn't have gotten bored of the one pointers, but some of them actually posed a threat to some applicants.

In that case, I simply took this as the opportunity to show my fighting capabilities without my quirk.

And in doing so, I've acquired a bunch of rescuing points while looking super cool with my parkour/martial art as I casually flipped the one pointers switch and quickly turned a horde of them into a robotic graveyard.

As time kept going, I got to admit I've even "stole some kills" from other students. But nothing too outlandish that would've caused me to be labeled as a villain.

I'm my defense, I even helped out some of those I sympathized the most.

As I was getting more acquainted with the urban setting, free to move around however I liked, my kill-count speed actually increasing.

But as things were getting boring, I felt a large tremor shaking the city. With some of them actually crumbling to the ground.

And it wasn't the only one in the entire city.

After a few jumps, I eventually reached the site where the closest 0 pointer was, just as it was about to bully most of the students that came to battle center B with me.

"Less than two minutes remaining!" Was President Mic warning.

And so I saw the little girl with her leg stuck under some concrete rubble.

As I was standing in the middle of the street facing the gigantic robot menacingly approaching, I announced.

"Don't worry! I will save you!"

And after that I shot upwards just like Izuku did in the canon, but this time I aimed for its chest.

Remembering the feeling from Ochako's quirk, I felt a different feeling spreading around my body.

My fingertips became pinky just like the minion.

And then I hit its chest with so much force, that I punctured its thick shell and locked myself inside its inner mechanisms.

The zero gravity quirk appeared to work, as because of my insane momentum, the massive robot shot upwards just as I previously did.

To be frank, I began feeling really nauseous, but I resisted it.

Now, I need to perform my next stunt flawlessly, or it might even backfire on me.

I began recollecting the image of a certain hot-headed foul mouthed bully, my skin began to change as my pores were secreting a different kind of sweat.

The heat of the machine really aided me in this task, and so I tuned One For All on as much as I could for a single release.

And so I finally debuted my first super move.

SUPERNOVA!

BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMMMM!

The sky literally turned red, as the 0 pointer turned to ash.

It didn't explode into chunks!

It didn't melt into liquid metal!

It actually turned to dust and vanished as it was then carried away by the wind.

Up there in the sky I could see mountains as if they were ants' nest.

And the buildings below me were proportional to ants.

Imagine just how small the people down there appeared to me.

But as all things that go up, I was falling down. Fast.

As the ground approached ludicrously quick, I embraced for impact. However, I remembered that the force of my impact might harm others, so I made another plan.

After passing by some clouds, things became serious.

I was at the building's height when I used the zero gravity quirk again. Getting rid of earth's gravitational push, I simply nullified my inertia with a mere flick of my fingers pointed downwards.

And so...

Thud!

I landed with still enough force to make a loud sound and a small tremor. But I considered it a win in my book.

"Wow!... Er... I mean, Time's up!" Was announced while sirens began sounding all around the testing grounds.lu

"Did you see that dude's attack?"

"Looks like some kind of super reinforcement! I've seen some before, but none to this extent."

"He is like All Might! Oh shit, what terrible bad luck to test for UA at the same time as him!"

"Wait, you are right! I remember him now from that whole story with All Might cleaning the beach. Is he... Is he All Might's son?!"

Were some of the other students gossips.

'Well, it appears I've accomplished the second step with flying colors... again!' I thought.

But when I inspected my hands, I noticed I got slightly burned all around my body.

My clothes were rags and I felt a real urge to vomit.

But I held on, for my dignity if nothing else.

And as if taking her cue, someone approached. "Very impressive! Great work all around! You are heroes in my eyes every one of you!"

She then proceeded to give to the students some gummies as a reward.

And then she came face to face with me. "My goodness, you really scared me when you were so up there in the sky! And now look at you! I can help you with your clothes...but these burns."

She asked me to bow a little. Knowing her intentions, I obeyed.

This is Recovery Girl. Yeah, why the hell would she change her hero name after getting old.

The nursing hero then kissed me in the cheek.

My body began glowing as my wounds immediately were healed.

I was feeling like the wolverine. It was awesome.

While leaving the area, I began pondering.

'... could I somehow enhance her quirk?'

———————————————————

One week later

Time went on regularly.

Based on my own estimates, the gap between me and the second place should be... considerable. The mock battle should follow suit.

Hopefully nothing strange happened.

I know that my constant changes to the story will eventually mean a massive divergence from the original story.

I haven't managed to get in touch with All Might since then.

He's probably just getting acquainted with the role of being a teacher in U.A.

As I awaited for the results, I began playing that old school video game I managed to restore.

After an hour or two, I decided to check my mailbox, and wouldn't you know... it had finally arrived.

I went to my room and placed it on my desk before turning it on.

"Buys! I am here as a projection now!" I saw All Might's zoomed in face.

"I know it has been a while since we've last talked, but with great amount of power there comes a great amount of paperwork!"

He cleared his throat and apologized.

All Might had already revealed to me his work in the U.A.

After being reminded that he still had to record a lot more of these messages he continued.

"Congratulations! You aced the writing exam and really pulled out a number during the combat exam. Not just that, you really went beyond, going plus ultra with a record number of rescues. You have a powerful quirk now, but it is your actions that inspire others! That is what our motto is all about. To train those who would risk their lives for the greater good."

After a dramatic pause. Yup, I was missing that in him.

"You have passed the entrance exam. Welcome, Neito! You've made it! You are now part of the Hero Academia."

I knew it was a recorded video, but I bowed my head and said. "Thanks sensei, you have been of great help!"

And now, my life will just keep changing even more.

Now, I'm enrolling into U.A. High School.
