Chapter 6: Battle Trials Pt.2

"The next battle will be between Team C and Team G. Team C will be the Villains and Team G will be the Heroes. Head to the battle site!" All Might announced.

Standing outside the building, it was time to discuss with Jiro how we're gonna do this.

"So for this test, we should probably get to know about each other's quirks," I said. I pretty much knew all there was but I should still ask. It would be weird to know about her capabilities when she never told me anything.

"Well as you can tell my quirk's Earphone Jack. It allows me to attack using sound waves from the beat of my heart when I plug them into something. I can also hear vibrations and movement"

"Hmm, that's actually very useful for the current situation. My quirk is Rashomon. I can summon a beast from my clothing that I can use offensively or defensively. I mostly attack from a longer range. If you don't mind, I actually have a plan ready"

She nodded her head for me to explain.

"Momo and Mineta aren't very offensive but we do need to worry about Momo's quirk. She can create and plant a lot of traps if given enough time. The good thing is she doesn't have enough time, and since we're fighting inside a building, she can't create overly destructive weapons. Mineta's balls are an issue but as long as we dodge them, they're fine"

"So what my plan is, you use your quirk to find their position and I'll get us there as soon as All Might gives us the green. I'll knock down any barricades they might have and engage in battle with Momo. Lure Mineta away from our fight and try to capture him, his balls could be bothersome and I'm sure you beat him in combat. We'll do this quickly"

"That sounds like a good plan, let's go with that" Jiro nodded and we waited till All Might gave us the signal.

Sticking her earphone jack into the wall, Jiro listened for a moment before pointing in down a certain corridor. Picking her up with Rashomon, I rushed in that direction. We arrived in front of a shut door that was barricaded by some steel. Momo's doing.

"Rashomon: Agito" I whispered, destroying the door, but instead of rushing in, I sent in tendrils straight for Momo, knocking her back and sending her sliding across the floor. Jiro ran in shortly after, taking Mineta by surprise.

I walked towards Momo as she pulled out a long rod from her chest. She got into a fighting stance and sprinted towards me.

Instead of engaging in close combat with her, I shot tendrils straight at her, keeping her occupied as I watched Jiro's fight with Mineta. She was getting held back by the sticky balls that he threw in a panic, the floor was littered with them.

Kyoka shot her earphone jacks toward Mineta, causing him to jump back and allowing me to capture him with Rashomon: Spider Thread.

But with me being distracted watching their fight, I almost didn't notice Momo breaking through my defenses and swinging her rod at my head. I don't need to use Devoured Space for this. I should use it as an opportunity to see how far I've come with my Eight Trigrams Training.

Ducking below her swing, I took on a low stance with my feet apart and palms raised. She advanced and started stabbing the rod like a rapier which I deflected with ease. Pushing away the rod, I moved in and struck out with a palm, hitting an acupoint in her swinging right arm.

Taking this opportunity, I struck her other arm as well, and with a final strike into her stomach, she fell onto her knees, gasping for air. Jiro moved towards the bomb and touched it, All Might's voice shouting from the speakers.

"THE HEROES WIIIIIIIIIIINNNNNNNNNN!!!!!!!!". Jiro pumps her fist in the air.

"Good job Jiro" I give her a thumbs up

"Yeah, you too!"

Reaching my hand out, I help Momo stand up, wrapping her arm over my shoulder to support her. Maybe I hit her a little too hard in the gut. A simple chop in her neck would've spared her the pain. Oh well, I can't go back in time. I still felt bad though.

"I'm sorry about hitting you so hard" I apologized as I carried her out of the building.

"No, it's fine. That was some masterful planning though! You subdued us so easily, it was like you knew exactly where we were and had us all figured out"

"Well with Jiro's quirk it made things a lot easier. She was perfect for this indoor trial"

Jiro, walking beside me had her cheeks redden which made me let out a small laugh. Stepping back into the monitoring room, our classmates swarmed us.

[Class POV]

On the monitor, the class watched as Akutagawa and Jiro talked about something for a while until All Might's voice yelled through the speakers.

"BEGIN!"

Jiro plugged her ear jack into the wall and motioned in a certain direction before being picked up by Akutagawa in a princess carry. Her face reddened as they started rushing through the hallways.

"Ooo, they should totally date! It's a match!" Yelled Mina in excitement.

"I don't know the guy comes off a bit cold. Remember what he did to Bakugou in class?" Denki said as Bakugou grit his teeth in anger.

"Nah he's actually pretty cool if you get to know him. Also, Bakugou kinda did it to himself" Kirishima said with a laugh as Bakugou was about to explode until someone else spoke up.

"His quirk is very similar to mine. He too hides a beast beneath the cloth" Said Tokoyami dramatically, getting some weird looks from others in the class. Ever the edge lord.

Tokoyami watched as Akutagawa coated his feet in Rashomon to improve his agility. He felt a spark of inspiration from this display but he couldn't grasp it.

Akutagawa and Jiro stood before Momo's barricaded door before Akutagawa broke it down with his Rashomon, a beast materializing and eating away the door followed shortly after by dark tendrils that assaulted Momo, knocking her across the room.

The class watched Mineta get easily captured by a black spiderweb. They diverted their attention back to Momo who had her rod in full swing for Akutagawa's head.

"He's done. He was too focused on Jiro's fight and didn't notice Momo closing in" Said Ojiro in deep focus. Everyone nodded their heads along with what he said. Akutagawa didn't look like he was good at close combat with his thin figure. The incident with Bakugou was simply because he was caught by surprise.

Akutagawa suddenly ducked under her swing and started parrying her blows, gaining shocked gasps from the class. They watched as he stabbed with his fingers into Momo's arms and finished with a powerful palm thrust into her gut, making her kneel.

"What the hell!? How'd he do that? She was down in seconds!" Kaminari said with a look of disbelief.

"From the looks of it, he's practiced Eight Trigrams and Soft Palms. See how his feet are placed and his circular movement. His appearance is very deceiving" analyzed Ojiro with deep interest on his face.

After All Might announced the Hero team's win, the class waited till Akutagawa and the others came before storming them with excitement.

"Akutagawa, those moves were insane man!" yelled Kirishima followed by a flood of comments and questions.

"Where'd you learn to move like that?"

"I totally didn't expect that"

"He's strong, but not strong enough to beat me. I'm gonna be number one" thought Todoroki as he remained silent but stared at Akutagawa.

"Now now calm down students, let's analyze the match. Would anyone like to explain how Team G managed to take down Team C so quickly?" Asked All Might as he gazed at the class.

"Well isn't it cause of Akutagawa and his OP quirk? He pretty much did everything by himself" Said Denki while scratching his head.

"No, that's only partly true," Said Momo as she stepped away from Akutagawa and came forward to explain.

"He came up with a solid plan that utilized both his and Jiro's effectively, managing to capture both of us and claiming the bomb. His quirk is versatile as shown through his performance and their teamwork was fluid" Stated Momo getting a nod of approval from All Might.

"What young Momo says is correct. The MVP of this match is Akutagawa" All Might says as checked the time. He led us out of the Battlegrounds.

"Good work today everyone. Aside from young Midoriya getting injured, there were no major injuries. For your first training exercise, you all did great. I'll be going to check on young Midoriya! Change your clothes and head back to class!" and with that he sped away, blasting all of us with a fierce wind.

Akutagawa watched as All Might sped away, his eyes sparkling with the knowledge that no one else had.

[Akutagawa POV]

It was currently after school but everyone stayed behind to chat and wait for Midoriya to come back. They were all still hyper from the battle trials earlier. I can't blame them though, the fight between Bakugou and Midoriya was emotional, even if no one could hear the conversation.

As I was lost in thought I didn't notice some people approaching until I heard someone clearing their throat.

"Hey there, I'm Tsuyu Asui, but you can call me Tsuyu" she introduced herself. I looked up at her as well as the others surrounding her.

"I'm Denki Kaminari, I shoot electricity" He smirked as he generated sparks on his fingers. It would be impressive if I didn't know that discharging over 1,300,000 volts makes him more of an idiot than he currently is.

"Hey, I'm Toru!" I heard a voice from seemingly nowhere until I saw a waving sleeve from over Denki's shoulder. She should wear a mask or something. Looking at a floating uniform is kinda weird but I'll get over it I guess.

"And I'm Ochaco Uraraka" she greeted in a cheerful manner. Her face is much rounder than in the anime, like a blob.

"Ryunosuke Akutagawa. Call me whatever you want" I responded back, but they know my name already, hehe. I did put up a pretty cool performance.

"Ooooh, so I can call you Ryu?" Mina said with a cheeky smile. I nearly fell out of my chair when I heard her call me by the nickname my mother calls me by. Clearing my throat I folded my arms not bothering to give her a response, which just got her to pester me more.

The door slid open and in walked Midoriya with his arm in a cast. It's time for that weird declaration of war of his. I was kinda cringing when I watched it in the anime. Leave it to a shounen to give you something like that.

After he ran out of the class I left a few minutes after along with Mina and Kirishima, making some idle chatter on the way out.

We managed to catch All Might and Midoriya standing together on the way out, talking a bit too loudly than they should about their little secret, but I guess it's just me since Mina and Kirishima haven't seemed to pick anything up from their discussion.

"Hey All Might!" Yelled Kirishima and Mina in unison.

He turned towards us and flashed his signature smile. "Ah! Young Kirishima, Mina, and Akutagawa. Fancy meeting you here!". Yes, not like this is the only entrance and exit for students All Might.

"You guys did well in the Battle Trials today! Splendid work, especially you Young Akutagawa. Your planning was thorough and well thought out. You will make a splendid hero!" He said, giving me a thumbs up and gaining an interesting look from Midoriya. Don't you dare put more stuff about me in your little diary you weirdo.

"Well, let's get going," I said as I walked ahead of them, not wanting to stay any longer and deal with Midoriya awkwardly asking about my quirk. Walking home, I thought about Todoroki freezing the building and I felt a burning in my chest. Just you wait, I'll devour you and your ice.
