33 Lonely Night

The night fell deeper. One by one, the men inside the inn retreated away from their tables, the room quieted a bit. Only murmurs were left being echoed through out the room. The tables around them were turning empty, leaving trails of frothed mugs and ale stains upon its rough surface. There was one who collapsed upon the wooden floor as though his life got taken away, his buddies had to assist him to stand up and walk towards home.

Blue sat still beside Celina, he had his milk infront of his eyes. Milk and blood were the only meal in the world left that he could taste, even meat tasted like a wet carboard. Only nourishing liquids found from creatures still had some taste left on them, he could use milk as a substitute for blood but it would take a pool of milk to have the same effect as a drop of blood. However, he consumed it for pleasure when the taste of blood became too stark for his tongue. He calmed himself and drank his milk, seeing the men infront of them had already left, the quiet ambience was to his liking.

Two empty bottles were rolling on the table, it fell and hit the wooden floor with a thud. When he swiveled his head to check Celina, he noticed she was out of it, she was obviously drunk, her face was like a pale cherry, she hiccuped every second or so, she sipped and continued to empty her last bottle. She no longer had to use her glass but just directly drink upon the bottle's tip, she followed it with a rough wipe of her lips.

Blue sneered a bit on her immodesty, it ruined his glass of milk. Celina dropped her face upon the table, her eyes were weak, her silky hair was slightly scraggy, her body sagging. "I don't wanna go, I told you already, I don't wanna train." She rambled under her warm breath, as though speaking to herself.

Blue sighed. "Woman, if you think I'm gonna carry you to your room you're mistaken."

The bald innkeeper neared their table. "Sir can you leave, we are closing." He said assertively.

Blue shook his head to look around, the abandoned tables and empty chairs around them were quiet as a void, the dim room incited them to leave as well. He sneered when he returned his eyes to the woman who kept on grumbling on the table.

The innkeeper stomped his foot to steal Blue's attention. "Hey are you listening? Take your girlfriend and leave immediately." He chided.

Blue smacked his lips and sneered, he seemed hesitant but he was left with no choice. He grabbed her back then heaved her up in a bridal carry, craddling her on his arms, the knapsack on her back were slightly on the way. Celina's head drooped along with her arms as though she was lifeless while she was being carried.

When he stepped outside the doorway, he was clueless where to put her. He sighed and jolted her forcing her to wake up. "Hey, where do you plan to sleep?"

She groaned, then her face molded into several expression from a frown to a smile in a second, her eyelids were half open, though she was probably out her senses. Then, she drowsily lifted herself, she was half awake it seems, Blue dropped her foot to the ground. Somehow, she managed to stand by herself, but she staggered, on the verge of falling when she tried to make a walk.

Blue scratched his head in irritation and held her hand, she could now support herself. "Woman, once you turn sober, you're so dead." Blue said, irked.

They walked across the village on a toddler's pace, Blue had to stop several seconds in order to keep up with her. "Blue, I---"

"What?" Blue said curious.

"I had fun when I'm with you." She said with a chaotic voice. "Eve-n if w-e tease each other." She hiccuped.

Blue gazed at her with a stoic face, his breath changed in rythm. He harrumph with a sound stronger than a whisper.

Celina then spun towards him, and she bumped upon his chest, she leaned her weight unto him, hugging him tight. "Hey Blue, I wanna know, do you consider me as a friend?" She grumbled.

Blue gave her a long insufferable stare as though processing for an answer. He then gave a sigh. "Probably."

She snorted as though unsatisfied. "Hmm, that's unfair I already consider you as a friend." She said.

"If you still have some sense in you, you better move away from me. You're annoying me." Blue spoke heavily.

"I don't wanna, you're warm." She slightly shook her head upon his chest, and dove her cheeks into his coat.

Blue tried to move but her grip was tight, he grunted. "You're even more annoying when you're drunk. Next time, I'll stop you from drinking another glass!" He hissed.

Blue noticed the full moon from the starry skies radiating their spot with its silky glow, the moonlight hit her eyes, sparkling her icy iris. Her silver hair reflected some of its light, spreading out slivers of white glow across his sight. The dark soil where they stood were illuminated by a smudge of moonlight.

"I think I'll move but you--" She hiccuped. "Must do what I say?"

Blue rose his eyebrow. "What are you in on again, woman?" He said with a snippy voice.

Celina held a child like face as she spoke. "Call m--e by m--y name." She slurred.

Blue bursted a contemptous gasp. He tried to speak but his lips were barred, he couldn't let go of the word, but only the first letter of her name. "C--"

Celina growled, she hugged him even tighter. "Please." She said innocently.

Blue sighed. "Fine! Salena, move." He spat.

Celina scowled lightly. "You still don't know my name, Geez."

"Who cares about names, you humans are all the same." Blue spoke.

"Anyway Blue, about earlier, I'm----" She pasued. "mad about earlier so I better pay you back. So, close your eyes." She demanded as her raging crystal eyes reflected the glimmering starlight.

"What!" Blue bursted.

Celina's drunken face frowned. "Just do it!" She hissed, her grip even tighter.

Blue sneered, he shuttered his eyelids tight. "What ever you are trying to do, just do it quick." He spat.

Celina heaved her red face away from his chest. "Good, just stay like that." She said, and faced him. She tipped toed and levelled her face unto his, after she positioned herself, she slowly leaned forward, drawing her lips closer upon his still face.

Without hesitation, she lunged her face forward, upclose she could see his full features, his pallid cheeks and musculine face, then her lips hovered over his, only centimeters apart, she could feel his cold breath, she advanced and gave a light and soft peck. Blue felt it, he popped his eyes wide open, her puffy lips sent a warm, smooth flow on his cold skin, gushing out a soothing feeling unto his entire face.

Suddenly, Celina halted when her stomach contorted as though it was being clenched, she barfed and dropped herself to the ground on all fours, retreating her face away.

Blue eyes broadened in bewilderment, he cringed in anger when stains of vomit was spilled upon his clothes, and she kept on barfing just close to his foot. He quickly lurched away in disgust, and set himself in his blue fire. He torn his clothes off to remove the stains, and have his power regenerate it back to normal.

Blue growled and stomped his foot. "I had enough, I'm leaving!" He strutted away as he trudged upon the dirt.

Behind him, Celina collapsed completely like a wilted flower, with her back slumping upon the grasses. She was lonely and vulnerable from the forces of the night.

Blue's gait became sluggish, he looked over his shoulder and paused for a moment. His eyelids fluttered as he recollected himself. He gripped his chest tight. A feeling of twinge surged right into his heart, piercing through it, finally ceasing his steps. He was unable to walk further as worry were building up on his soul. He scowled as he spoke with his lips heavy. "What is this uneasiness? Just when was the last time I had this emotions?" He gripped his fist tight, he turned around and stared at Celina.

"Woman, just what did you do to me?" Blue said confusingly.

Blue ended up carrying her, he roamed the village seeking for an inn, and when there was one within his sight, he was now heading towards it.

"Mom, Father, everyone- --Herdis." Her voice told some hint of anguish.

He ignored it and entered an inn, in terms of design and materals, it was nearly identical to the other one, but the placement of the desk on the tables were somewhat different. The inn keeper in this building was an old man, who had a drooling face as he slept upon the front desk.

Blue went close, he cleared his throat loudly. Seeing no response, he kicked the front desk wall heavily, a heavy thud and a vibrations turned the old man's body upright, his blood shot eyes wide awake and face restless. "Bloody demons!" He cursed from surprise.

"I need a room." Blue said.

The old man yawned, he rubbed his drooling mouth. "Ugh. i had a good dream and you ruined it." He then squinted his eyes upon the two, creases was increasing upon his face. "The most expensive will be one silver coin, it got two beds and will be comfortable for you two." He said with a hoarse voice.

In his previous life on earth, money didn't bother him much but he thought he needed to stay stingy when it comes to money. Most of his money were taken from the civilians who he fed upon. He could do a robbery or so, but it would take him too much work and he felt lazy to do it, he'd rather take the money that was within his reach. The only purpose of his money was for him to stay comfortably at inns and in the modern world, in apartments, and of course to buy some milk. The memory of his previous landlord just flashed upon his eyes.

"How much for the cheapest? Preferably with only one bed." Blue said.

"That would be twenty bronze coins."

Blue sighed, he laid Celina's lifeless body flat with her chest first upon the table, he opened her knapsack and rummaged her belongings, seeking for coins. He found a bag of it, all he need to do was to take a silver coin, counting twenty bronze coins will take too much work. He tossed the glinting silver coin to the old man.

The old man quickly caught it on mid air.

"Hey old man, how much is the silver to the bronze?" Blue said.

"A hundred. You still have some change." The old man said.

Blue nodded, and went close to the old man. He quickly scooped the change and kept it unto his pockets. After he was given a key, he carried the woman, moving her to the room.

The room was tiny, the planked walls were blotted with dust and dark stains, the bed on the side looked clean but casual, there was a wide window letting in the sharp beams of moonlight, casting a rectangular glow on the rough floor. Judging the room over all, it was truly a cheap room.

He went close to the bed and dropped her body unto it, as though without care, she bounced upon impact with a moan.

Blue snorted, he turned away, tired of all her nonesense. He sat upon the window sill, leaning his back on the frame. He tilted his head to the starry skies, his hollow eyes were filled by the moon's plumpy glow.

In a sudden, Blue's eyes became dead sharp, he eyed the door with a cold glare, with a sniff of the air, he smelled a warm presence outside the door. "One, three, err no, five people."

Blue casted a wide smirk, baring his cold fangs, his razor teeth was lit up by the star light, his presence grim and face villainous. "What a coincidence, I was getting hungry!" He spat.
