1 Fading Hope

"The dawn is the witness of our promise," the white-haired leonin whispers.

He holds a little anemone then slumped on a pile of wheat. It was a bit cold, but he was so tired that he didn't even think that he might get sick.

Gloomy, he sighs and slowly picks one petal after another.

"So you thought I'll break our promise just because of that?" Plucking the last petal, he used his magic to burst the flower in pieces.

He watched as the green fibers flew around him, then blew them all away. Looking at the ocean, not minding how the winter's breeze made his whole body shiver, he lets out a dry laugh.

He brushes all the petals off his torso, then sat up straight.

"We had a promise for each other," he stops for a moment, "if you can still remember," he continues.

The once dark sky is turning into a lighter shade, the dawn is happening.

He remembers, it's the skin tone of his best friend. He scratched his head in frustration and lies back on his makeshift bed.

"When the calendar hits the sixth day of November, we'll test our powers," he paused for a moment, forming a magical blue orb on his hands, "we'll fight each other," and then he threw it, "and whoever wins will have to follow their orther...for a whole month." He chuckles once again.

He remembers the face of his best friend when he told him he couldn't beat him. And then his once clear vision became blurry.

"I know, I know. Today's November fifth, but i couldn't wait anymore," he laughs to himself, "I wish I could turn back the time and be the best of the 'best' best friend in the world," he sniffs in sadness, stood up, and made his way near the seashore.

Despite the fact that the winter made everything around him cold. Even his feelings and emotions.

"I wish I could hold your hand and go to the other side of the world to end this war."

A small warm tear rolled down his cold cheeks, and then another.

"You know? I've always thought you were the blue shade that follows me every night."

Looking at his side, another tear escaped his eyes, smiling at the imaginary blue shade.

"Every night," he emphasized.

With a broken expression, he wiped the tears streaming down his cheeks.

"B-Because when the dawn passes by," his attention was caught by the sky. It was a mix of dark blue and scarlet, "it...disappears."

As soon as those words escaped his lips, as small ray of sunshine popped out the horizon, across the sea.

As soon as those words escaped his lips, the imaginary blue shade fades away.

"Just like what you did, Harper."

With that, Harith stuffed his frozen hands back to his pocket, walking away from the seashore.

He looks back, one last time. "I'll wait for you. The same date and time."

And then he left.

"'Til we meet again."
