3 Chapter 3

[System Announcement: Congratulations to Blue Brook Guild's players: Blue River, Thundering Light, Lord Grim, Returning Cloud, Lunar Grace for breaking the Frost Forest clear record. Time: 20:24:11.]

Autumn Tree: Nice record, why are you working for Blue Brook?

Lord Grim: 72 Strong Spider Silk, 2 Mithril Pendants, 8 White Wolf Sharp Fangs

Autumn Tree: Oh, for the Myriad Manifestations Umbrella? I thought we only needed 24 Strong Spider Silk?

Lord Grim: I'm not complaining if they give me extra

Autumn Tree: How'd you get them to agree to that, anyway?

Lord Grim: The guilds need records for publicity. I can ensure that they get them, in exchange for a small fee.

Autumn Tree: Small?

Lord Grim: They can afford it. I'll bring you with me when you level up.

Autumn Tree: Ugh can't you slow down?

Lord Grim: The guilds are already getting annoyed at me for not keeping up with their 24-hour leveling. You probably don't have to completely catch up, but you have to be able to get in the dungeon.

A few days later, Muqiu was quietly leveling (by himself, since he still needed to catch up to Lord Grim) when he got a message from Ye Xiu.

Lord Grim: Come to Boneyard. Wild Boss Blood Gunner Yagg, coordinates 2493, 8605

Autumn Tree: Coming but I'm only level 18

He was almost level 19, and he thought he could catch up with Lord Grim soon, but a wild boss was important too. It would be a great opportunity if they could get Blood Gunner Yagg, as he remembered the Myriad Manifestations Umbrella needed materials from it and it was incredibly hard to get wild bosses without a strong guild.

When Su Muqiu got to the coordinates indicated, he found Lord Grim already fighting the boss with a group of other players. Three large groups of players from guilds—the three strongest guilds, from what he could tell—stood around watching, not yet making a move. Well, the longer they waited, the longer he and Ye Xiu had to generate enough aggro on the Blood Gunner to steal it. Of course, they wouldn't wait that long, but they would probably try to kill the players who held the aggro to steal it. Killing Su Muqiu and Ye Xiu would be harder than they thought. Muqiu had already begun thinking of plans to use the features of the boss to distract the guilds.

When he got there, he saw Lord Grim already fighting the boss with a group of players, probably random people who had happened to find it. He fit himself in seamlessly with Ye Xiu's commands to the rest of the group. When Ye Xiu told them all to run away, he thought for a moment, then messaged Lord Grim. "Combo?"

Lord Grim sent back a nodding emoji. Su Muqiu ran away at top efficiency, reassuring the other players that Lord Grim knew what he was doing and they should follow his plan, even after the guilds started offering rewards.

After they finished fighting the boss and escaping from the guilds, Ye Xiu offered Su Muqiu the Blood Rifle to use until he needed to put it in the Myriad Manifestations Umbrella.
