10 Going Old School

" I'm throwing a party at my house this night , if you guys don't have anything to do you can come over "Jeremy says

Izzy and I look at each other and for the second time today , exchange surprised and confused looks.

I'm about to nicely refuse his offer but Izzy beats me to it and accepts it .

"Izzy it's a school night", I whisper for only Izzy to hear.

"Betty , I know but I'll be leaving this weekend, let's just do this before I go , please" Izzy pleads with a much louder voice causing the boys to turn and look at me .

"It will be fun Betty, please come", Zach says and gives me a pleading look

"okay , okay we'll come" I finally agree

"but how will we get there , neither of us drive or know where you live" Izzy points out

" I can pick you girls up on my way" Zach offers

"there's no need for that I live really close to Betty , I'll bring them" jake finally speaks ,

I was beginning to wonder if he forgot how to talk .

The bell rings and the boys say bye and leave .

"we just got invited to our first party" Izzy and I say at the same time and scream really loudly causing people to stare at us.

we just pick up our bags and hurriedly walk out of the cafeteria.

on the way to class ,I tell Izzy about my meeting with Zach in the morning , also about how Zach asked me to be his partner but I got partnered with Jake , I also tell her that Jake is the same Jake from my childhood , She's speechless about the whole thing and before she can reply we arrive at the door to my next class so I walk in and she finds her way to her class.

School is finally over..hurray .

Izzy had to leave school early so once again I'm walking home alone.

It's not that I don't like it, I actually love walking home alone, it's an avenue to exercise and to be left alone with my thoughts.

I can't believe Zach sat at our table today does this mean that he likes me or is he just being nice.

I also just got invited to my first party.

But why did all these good things start to happen when Izzy is leaving.

Why is it that just when I get close enough to someone and start depending on them to always be there , that's when something happens and they have no choice but to leave, first it was Jake ,he was my best friend and then he just left , now its all happening over again Izzy is leaving , I know it's neither of their fault ,things like this happen but it would only hurt less if I wasn't too depending and trusting that they'll always be around.

Jake might be right about me having trust issues but it's only because people I get close too leave me .

From now on I will not get too close to anyone , that way when they leave it won't hurt too much.

I walk into my house and head for the stairs.

" Betty is that you , come to kitchen" my mum orders

"yes mum " I walk to the kitchen

" how was school today"

"fine"

is this the right time to ask if I can attend Jeremy's party, maybe I should wait till my dad's home he'll surely allow me to go.

"mum when will dad be back from work"

"he won't be back early , why?"

"nothing I just wanted to know"

"so Betty did anything exciting happen in school today " a smile finds its place on her face.

"well.." I start to stutter..

"mum ..I .I got in..vi..ted to a par..ty please can I go"

"no you can't"

"wait, what ,why? this is the first party I'm getting invited to and you don't want me to go "

"You have the nerve young lady , you missed your maths class today and all you can think about is a party, how are you going to pass maths if you miss classes"

" mum it wasn't my fault it was the teacher who told me to leave the class "

"because you were late, there will be more parties but for today's party you are not going "

"mum there won't be more parties with Izzy , she's moving this weekend" I try to beg.

" then you should have considered that before going late to your maths class"

" you are so annoying, if it was dad he wouldn't have any problem with me going , this is the first time I'm being invited to a party and you don't want me to go " I storm out of the kitchen angrily and even ignore Josh who was trying to tell me something on the way to my room.

Once I'm in my room I slam the door and lock it.

why does she have to be so annoying .I wish she was the one at work and my dad was the one I met at home I jump on my bed and scream into my pillow.

"brrr" I check to see who sent me a text it's Izzy

"Betty I'm so excited about the party , come to my place before going so we'll go together smiling emoji"

see Izzy is so excited and my mum wants me to disappoint her.

There's no way I'm going to disappoint Izzy or miss my first party.

Time to go old school.

I look out my window to see if it's not too high for me to jump , it's not exactly very high maybe a really athletic person could jump it but I'm not athletic at all .

time to go old school be my own rapunzel just without the hair but with bedsheets .

I search and bring out all my old bedsheets ,I tie all the edges together then tie one edge to one of my beds leg I leave the other end of my makeshift rope on the floor.

"are you sure you want to do this" a voice in my head says

"of course you have to do this , this is your first and probably only party with Izzy" another voice says .

I'm totally doing this .... for Izzy and maybe for Zetty .

Next thing , I need the perfect outfit ,

after ransacking my whole wardrobe I decide to go with a black plain short sleeves top with a pair of slim fitted light blue jeans that's folded at the end .

I also select my black and white snickers and a small round black bag with one hand .

my mind goes to what happened earlier

"I can't believe that my mum did that and she can't even come and apologise ,

I hope she isn't expecting me to apologize because I'm not going to."

I quickly remove my mind from it and continue planning my escape....

After resting for a while I decide that it's time for me to dress up and go.
