13 Ch 13: She was furious with him

The girls had asked about him, but she had told them that he was working and that they would see their dogs again soon, but even she wasn't convinced by her lies.

She wanted to protect her daughters from the pain she felt, and eventually, she found a new flat somewhere else so that he couldn't find her.

She had taken a few days off, promising to write her articles from home so that she didn't stand the chance of him showing up at her office, and then when she was certain he had left for London, she went back to work.

Dylan had asked what had happened and said that Isaac had called him on numerous occasions worried out of his mind, but she brushed it off and didn't want to talk about it.

It was toward the middle of May when reports came streaming in about the volcanic events at Eyjafjöll in Iceland which resulted in the closure of most of London's IFR airspace.

N.T: Eyjafjöll is one of the smaller ice caps of Iceland. You can Google it if you want to see how it looks like

Consequently, a very high proportion of flights within, to, and from London were canceled, creating the highest level of air travel disruption since the Second World War.

Apart from ash clouds making visibility in the air near impossible, microscopic debris in the ash could sandblast windscreens and melt in the heat of aircraft turbine engines, damaging engines and making them shut down.

Isaac had tried to call her many times since he had left at the beginning of March right up until a few days earlier, and she grew increasingly worried.

She was furious with him, but that didn't mean that she had stopped loving him. She checked in with the international news department to find out if any planes had gone down in the chaos, but they were also still awaiting news and told her that if they heard anything they would let her know immediately.

She was a complete ball of panic by the third day and had got very little sleep in the time that had elapsed since she received Isaac's last voicemail, some five days earlier.

Finally, Francis from the international news department called to say that it had been confirmed that no airplane had crashed during the ash cloud chaos, and only some military aircrafts had been damaged.

A huge relief filtered through Maya's body, and without really understanding why, she burst into tears. Dylan rushed to her side, holding Maya in his arms and trying desperately to console her until she finally collapsed in his arms from exhaustion. "How are you feeling?" Dylan asked a sleepy Maya when she finally woke up.

"Where am I?" She asked dazedly. "In the hospital," he replied. "No don't try to get up. Don't worry, the girls are fine. They are at your sister's place." Maya relaxed, but then she suddenly remembered how she ended up in the hospital in the first place.
