When things get hard you easily disassociate from your situation. You forget where you are or you wish you weren't where you are. Some things are easier to handle when you're hiding in your mind but when you start doing it too often people notice and when they notice they get concerned and when they get concerned they turn it into something big.

"Hey, Zayn." His hazel brown eyes flicked over to the source of the voice who was currently pointing at him with a fork who sat across from him. "Why are you burning holes in the floor?" The girl asked. He doesn't know why he's staring at the floor. He doesn't even know why his mind is trained on one topic that can't seem to leave his mind.

In a school for the elite there are two groups, Politics and Royalty and he fell into neither. He wasn't influenced or forced by his parents to go here to socialize and better themselves as a future leader. He was only going here because his dad did because he wasn't in either group. There were some misconceptions about him that he refused to address because who doesn't like a bit of mystery.

Zayn Snipes was thought to be pretentious and stuck up by many maybe because he was overly quiet and his eyes seemed judging in a way and it made people thrown off. Maybe it could be that he was a perfect mix of academics and athletics and it made people think he had a disingenuous personality. That wasn't at all true to him but others would contest his self-compliments and shady comments pointed to artificial. He didn't know where they came from by a few minutes of conversation could clear those allegations but when you come from nothing you're under an even harsher gaze.

"Zayn!" The girl with the brown micro braids called out again. He didn't even notice he was chewing on his nails again.

"Is he freaking deaf? Zayn!" Lorel, who had long black hair, stretched her hand across the table to flick his forehead.

"What?" His stare seemed dazed and confused. He was in deep thought and they dared to pull him out of it. He was bothered and needed to fix his situation so he did not want to participate in their useless conversations. He was going mad or that's how it felt. He couldn't wrap his head around his own feelings which was new for him. He could sort out things quickly but something new was introduced to him and this made things confusing for him. He didn't want to admit and tried hard to push away any sort of thought but that just led to him sitting in silence chewing away at his fingers.

"Hey." A new lunch tray itself sat on the table as the owner took his seat and in here comes the root of his problems, Christian Parker. Zayn was thinking the whole reason Christian was avoiding him was because of the start of his new relationship but from his intuition and Christian's demeanor said underwise and he thought they had the same problems. "What's him?" The blonde asked.

"We don't know, probably got insulted by some girl he was after." Lorel joked but Zayn didn't find that funny. He wasn't finding anything funny.

"That's not funny." Zayn glared.

"Aw, he's offended. Really what's up?" Zayn stared his gaze away from the hand Daniela placed on his and rolled his eyes. He didn't want to be asked questions he wanted to ponder.

"Since we got here he's been dazed and staring at the floor. It's annoying." Lorel tried to flick him again but he swatted away her hand. "He's just been snappy and doing that staring thing. I can't make conversation with someone who isn't even listening. SNAP OUT OF IT!" He once again rolled his eyes now that he was pulled out of his daze. He didn't want to talk to anyone until he could feel at ease. Zayn's dazed started last week. Both Zayn and Christian were hauled up in Zayn's room working on a project but they were distracted by their phones.

"So…" he placed his phone down to focus on the conversation he was about to start. "I wanna get together with Elenore. How does that sound?" He asks. Zayn glanced at him but didn't say anything. "Are you okay with that?" Christian apprehensively asked. Zayn once more glanced at him and shrugged as his eyes were on his phone. Christian plucked his distracting phone from his hand and threw it to the side of the bed he was sitting on.

"Hey!"

"Listen. I'm asking for no problems."

"Um- I mean I don't really care. It's a given due to how things went at that Kandy girl's party. Do what you want." Christian visibly cringed at the mention of that party. He practically embarrassed himself. He made his whole school not welcomed at any events in the Crystal Heights Area. The way the two got together was messed up but Zayn had to push that to the back of his head and be happy for his friend.

"Yeah, that moment." He recalled as he scrunched his face. "All I'm saying is she should have locked her room if it's off limits."

"It's expected not to go into the hostesses room and use her bed." Zayn retorted.

"Well… I don't know. I got high. It is what it is." Christian chuckled.

"If we're done talking about the reason we can't mingle with the celeb kids then give me back my phone."

"Oh yea- Where is it?" Christian pats the space around him but the phone is nowhere to be found. Zayn rolls his eyes as he stretches over to grab it.

"Eek!" Wrong move because this sent them both stumbling off the bed right on top of each other. Zayn fell right onto Christian and tried to get up but his hands made contact with somewhere he never imagined it would. Panic washed his face as he fell right back down. This was awkward and weird. They didn't want this to get weirder than they already were.

"Ummm…Thi- This is- This is um Awkward, really awkward." Zayn tried to get up again and actually did but couldn't take the awkward feelings settling into the room. It's like he could feel everything compressing around him. He made some excuses and ran out. He ran out of his own home. He got as far as possible and as far possible means he ran off to some local restaurant to clear his head. His head was pounding and this is when it started. He just went into a daze and sat there. He didn't know how long until he felt a vibration from his phone which he stuck deep in his pocket. A message from Christian flashed across the screen and he internally cringed before opening up the chat. Only two words came up and from the day on for some reason those two words ticked him.
