Chapter 2.1

Justine

I slammed my hand down at rattling object just beside ears, buzzing noisily to wake me up, I'm starting to think that having an alarm clock is just a bother. I opened my eyes, dazed and stared at the whitish ceiling for a minute I sighed deeply as I gained nothing and just rolled up from bed.

My mouth was dry so I went downstairs to get something to drink. It was dark, even calming. The only sound I hear is the chiming from the tall-dark mahogany antique grandfather clock my father put on display, and just by the living room. I walk towards the kitchen and open the fridge to get some water.

I poured the water onto the glass, then everything went silent. No tick nor chime can be heard. I emptied the glass in one gulp and went straight to the living room to check out if there was something wrong with the clock. It might be old, but it shouldn't malfunction.

I pried upon the clock and scanned it. It is a century old clock, engrave with the finest owl carvings on the side, the clock

the lower door was thickly bezeled with the mahogany wood as the glass shined brightly,  effective enough to be a mirror. open the lower door. Nothing was missing, the pendelum lyre and bob was there but it wasn't moving. I open the door wider and squinted my eyes.

"What the--" I reached my hand down the lower door further, it was bottomless. My eyes widened in confusion as I retracted my arm only to be pulled back. I struggled to break loose from the maddening grip that took a hold of my arm. My whole body was being sucked into a bottomless pit of darkness.

'No help me, please!' My eyes began to close as breathing became harder. 'Help please, anyone! Someone! I whispered helplessly. 'Help.'

"No!" I arouse from bed with cold sweat trickling down my forehead. A foreboding feeling swell upon the back of my head. That dream, it felt surreal. My heart was pounding loudly as my breathing began to accelerate. It was scorching yet I feel so cold.

I glance beside my bed, when I hear a rattling, dissapoitment wash over me, it was my alarm clock that buzzed like a bee, just like in my dream. I sighed deeply and wiped the trickling sweat away from my forehead. I halted when I noticed that my forehead wasn't the only part of my face that is wet.

I was stunned for a moment. It wasn't the sweat that shocked me but the tears that continued to cascade down my eyes as I felt immense pressure in my heart.

"What on earth is happening?" I whispered as I did nothing to wipe it away. "It was just a silly nightmare?"

I felt groggy and decided to lay back just for a few more minutes. During this past few days I feel something different. That there is huge change is trying to break free from within.

To the kids dissapointment the new girl in town was not special. I did not have the latest toys nor did I have the fanciest family backround. I was just plain Justine. It never mattered then, as long as I had my peace.

I stared upon the white celing as I consumed myself with deep thought. A couple of years ago...
