5 It's Nice Having Family, Isn't It?

Nyx's jealousy only got worse throughout the rest of the Riverses' visit. They stayed for about a month and in that time, it was completely obvious how close they all were and how much they loved each other. She had never had that. 

She had been intruding on the first warm family that she ever had experience with but knew she wasn't one of them. She was just…here. 

She had probably overstayed her welcome by this point but her hosts were too nice to say anything about it. She had been here for years. So why hadn't they kicked her out yet? Why did they treat her so warmly like she truly was one of them when she wasn't? 

It wasn't until she overheard something Flora said to Ruby when they thought that she wasn't awake yet that she began to realize why that might be. "Vesper's girlfriend is really nice. I'm glad he found someone. I know he was worried about being alone with you guys forever."
