6 Training

"Maya needs training." Drake told Mira as he sat on his side of their bed, "I realized that during our mission together."

"So why haven't started it then?" Mira asked him while reading her book, "That doesn't sound like you."

"I thought if I let her learn on her own then she would be fine but with the sudden arrival of Tartaros I can't rely on that." Drake explained as he laid down, "She isn't weak by any means but she doesn't know how to use our magic to it's full extent either. Natsu's training really only works with Fire Dragon Slayer magic."

"I think you should start tomorrow if that's the case." Mira told him as she turned off the light on the nightstand, "For now try to get some sleep."

~The Next Morning~

"Why are we up so early?" Maya asked him as they stood in their backyard, "The sun isn't even fully out yet."

"I'm going to teach you everything I know." Drake explained and her tired eyes instantly turned excited, "This is going to be tough so be ready. Blood Slayer magic is meant to kill but, as you know, that's not how Fairy Tail does things of it can be avoided."

"I'm ready for anything." Maya told him as she hopped in place and getting her body warmed up. Drake smiled before he dashed forward faster than she could react and stopped his fist inches from her face. Her eyes widened as just the force behind the punch was enough to almost knock her over.

"Nevee assume you're ready for anything." Drake told her as he walked back to his original position, "The strength of that punch was mainly because of speed."

"Wait, so if that was just from you being fast what about when you put your all into a punch?" Maya asked as she got her voice back. Drake put his hand on his chin in thought and decided that he would deal with the consequences later. He turned around to face the empty field and his magic covered his arm as he pulled it back. Maya watched in complete awe as he destroyed most of the field in front of them with one punch.

"That happens." Drake told her calmly before his stoic face turned into one of complete panic and he quickly grabbed Maya's hand, "We got to go now!"

"Why?!" Maya asked as they started to fly and got her answer in the form of her mom yelling something, "Oh no."

"She is going to kick my ass later." Drake told her as they flew side by side, "I may be strong but that woman scares me when she's mad and I'm probably gonna get with everything she's got."

"Maybe we shouldn't train in the yard?" Maya said as she started to laugh. Drake couldn't help but laugh himself as they landed outside of Fairy Tail. Maya gave him a confused look as they walked in.

"Mira would never mess up the guildhall." Drake explained as they walked over to Natsu, Lucy and Nashi.

"I thought you were supposed to be training today?" Lucy asked them and watched Drake's face go pale as he heard Mira clear her throat behind him, "What did you do?"

"He destroyed the field behind how house." Maya explained and gave Drake a sly look. Maya's joke got both of them hit in the head and Mira sighed at them.

"Why did you destroy the yard?" Mira asked Drake with an irritated tone. Drake knew that if he gave her an answer she didn't like he would be hit again and searched for the right one.

"I was explaining to Maya that you can't be ready for everything and she wanted to see what would happen if I put all of my strength behind a punch. I showed her and that was what happened." Drake explained and Mira nodded before he was hit again.

"Think before you do things!" Mira yelled at him and the others laughed as he rubbed his head, "I'm happy you're training with Maya but don't bring our home into it! That goes for you to young lady."

"You really messed up huh?" Natsu asked with a laugh that got him hit by Lucy. Both men had apologetic faces as they looked at their wives.

"How are you the only ones that can hurt them?" Nashi asked she watched them walk towards the bar with their heads lowered.

"Because they let us." Lucy told her and Maya as Mira went to talk with Drake, "If they really wanted to they could destroy all of Magnolia and we wouldn't be able to stop them."

"Dad is that strong?" Maya asked as her parents walked back over. Lucy nodded as Natsu walked over as well.

"It would seem we're not allowed to train at home anymore so let's go find a new training area." Drake told Maya and she quickly followed him out of the guild.

"Why are Dragon Slayers so destructive in everything they do?" Mira asked with a sigh before smiling as she watched Drake and Maya talk before flying off.

Outside Of Magnolia:

"This should work just fine." Drake said as they landed in an grassy spot of a forest right outside of Magnolia, "Nothing WE care about is going to be destroyed."

"What's first?" Maya asked not dropping her guard this time. Drake pointed his hand towards the field and fired javelins out of it. Maya watched with wide eyes as the javelins caused explosions that left holes in the field.

"That is a Blood Dragon Sacred Art." Drake explained, "Well it's a weaker version of one."

"So like the Bloody Ballet?" Maya asked and Drake nodded, "That was didn't seem to hard to learn."

"You also didn't do it correctly." Drake said and she gave him a confused look, "If you don't believe me then hit me with it."

"That doesn't sound like a good idea Dad." Maya told him and he shrugged. She sighed and came at him while using Bloody Ballet. He stopped her with one hand as if all she had done was run at her.

"That's what I mean. Understanding the concept of something doesn't mean you can do it right. For example, Mira's Satan Soul. We know how it works and how they do it but that doesn't mean we can." Drake explained and she looked annoyed that he had proven her wrong, "Doing a Sacred Art is similar to that. While you can do it you aren't doing it correctly. It'll work against small fry but against somebody like Nashi it won't since both of you can beat small fry by just punching them."

"Ok well I how do I do it correctly?" Maya asked and saw Drake's scales formed on his arms.

"Can you do this?" Drake asked her and by the way she was looking at him he assumed no, "Alright so the best way I can describe this is to call it our Dragon Force and to get it to come out you have to let your bloodlust come out. The scales will naturally come out themselves and after that it's about controlling it. It's hard to do at first but it also gives you an exponential boost in power. You told me you lost control before and Nashi knocked the sense into you? Do it again."

"I'm afraid that if do I'll end up hurting people." Maya admitted and Drake nodded in understanding, "What if I can't control it?"

"I'll stop you." Drake told her calmly and she still looked unsure, "What if you lose control on a mission and hurt your friends? We're here so you can better use and control our magic."

"I understand." Maya told him before closing her eyes and taking a deep breath. After a few moments her power rose and Drake smiled when she seemed to have it under control. She opened her eyes and gave him a wicked smile before charging him. He blocked her fist but it packed enough power to send him sliding back. Mira, Elfman and Lisanna walked into the area to watch them train and Drake kicked Maya into the trees.

"Drake why are being so rough?!" Mira asked before she noticed how serious his face was, "What's going on?!"

"Get out of here now!" Drake yelled to them just before a red streak knocked him across the area. He slid on his feet and they were in complete shock when they saw Maya.

"Isn't that Drake's Dragon Force form?!" Lisanna asked them as the two Slayers shot into the sky.

"Maya calm down and breath!" Drake told her as he grabbed her from behind and if he were anyone else she probably would have gotten free as she tried her best to throw him off, "Focus and you'll be able to take control!"

"Drake!" Mira yelled as he was suddenly sent flying towards the ground. He landed on his feet and didn't break his gaze off of Maya.

"Satan Soul to?!" Elfman asked as Maya landed on the ground and they got a good look at her. Mira was about to help but Drake put his hand up to stop her. He clashed fists with Maya as she charged him and he sent her flying backwards.

"I SAID SNAP OUT OF IT!" Drake yelled loud enough for the away to shake and taking them all by surprise. Maya stopped in her tracks and widened her eyes as she realized what was going on. She looked at her hands and saw that she was using her mom's Satan Soul transformation but it was black rather than violet. She had razor sharp scales on her arms that she was able to make point up at will.

"I-I'm sorry Dad." Maya told him as she returned to her normal form. He walked over and put his hand on her shoulder.

"The only things that were surprising about that were the fact that you have Satan Soul and you got control on the first try." Drake told her with a smile before looking at Mira, "It looks like you're going to have to help me train her because I don't know anything about Satan Soul."

"We definitely weren't expecting any of that." Elfman said with a warm smile, "You're way stronger than us."

"Yeah you might just rival your Dad!" Lisanna told her happily and Drake shook his head at her, "Well maybe not yet but you definitely will."

"You'll be stronger if we have anything to say about it." Mira told her and Drake nodded in agreement, "Oh yeah, we came here to tell you that Luna was back."

"Who's Luna?" Drake asked with a confused tone. They realized that he had never met her and Drake was quickly dragged to the guild by Maya. They walked in and Drake saw Nashi happily talking with a blonde girl next to Natsu and Lucy. The cogs in Drake's head began to turn and he processed who she was.

"They have another kid?!" Drake asked Mira in complete shock, "Please tell me she isn't a Dragon Slayer to."

"No she's a Celestial Mage like Lucy." Mira explained as Maya ran over to talk to them. They followed her as Elfman and Lisanna went to the request board.

"Are you ok Drake? You look like you've been through the ringer." Lucy asked him and he laughed while rubbing the back of his head.

"Maya knocked the hell out of me." Drake explained as he sat at the table, "Maya is a lot stronger than she knows."

"She can use Dragon Force and Satan Soul." Mira explained and they looked surprised, "She even managed to use them at the same time. I honestly think that of it were anyone but Drake she probably would have killed them by mistake."

"What do you mean?" Natsu asked as he watched the girls talk, "What happened?"

"She couldn't control it at first." Drake explained as the girls made their way to them, "I almost had to hurt her."

"So you're Maya's dad?" Luna asked him as she held her hand out to him, "Im Luna, nice to meet you."

"Nice to meet you to. Are you sure you're related to Natsu?" Drake asked her as he shook her hand.

"What's that supposed to mean?!" Natau asked and Drake gave him a smug grin, "You wanna go?!"

"If you wanna lose then sure." Drake told him as their magic flowed off of them, "It's been awhile since when we at it."

"Not in the guild!" Lucy and Mira yelled as they hit their husbands on their heads. The girls laughed at them as the sat at the table.

~Weeks Later~

"Alright, you have control of Dragon Force. Now try the Bloody Ballet on me again." Drake told Maya as he turned his hands into claws, "Don't worry about cutting me."

"You got it!" Maya yelled before she spiraled towards him and her magic turned into a drill. He put his hands in front of him and caught her but instead of stopping she began to push him back. She stopped and jumped away from him with a big smile.

"Nice job Maya." Drake told her as his hand returned to normal, "Our Dragon Force can also be used for offense as well as defense. The scales we grow are razor sharp as you know and it makes for hurting your enemies easier but they can also keep them from physically attacking you because of the risk of them getting cut. At that point they'll have to use ranged magic which we also have."

"Like that move you showed me before?" Maya asked him and he filled his hand with magic. She followed his lead and pointed her hand towards the trees like he did.

"In order to do that you have to condense your magic as it's released. The more magic you build up the harder it gets but you'll be able to launch more. For now just do one like this." Drake told her as the magic in his hand began to reform and he fired a javelin. She watched it hit a tree and begin to glow before exploding.

"One seems simple enough." Maya said as she mimicked what Drake did and got the same results. Drake clapped before he sat on the grass.

"Now for the rest of the day I want you to increase the amount you can fire. If you start to run low on magic I'll let you eat some of mine." Drake told her and she gave him a confused look, "So you know how Nashi can eat any type of fire as long as it doesn't come from her?"

"Yeah but Natsu said that I could only drink blood since I'm a Blood Dragon Slayer." Maya explained and Drake face palmed. He hated the dumbass logic behind the Blood Dragon name.

"No we eat life energy and blood is just the best source of it. Magic falls under that category because it requires life energy in order to be used." Drake explained as he stood back up, "That's one of the reasons me and Acnologia were able to fight for so many years without stopping. He also had the ability to eat anytime of magic but not to the extent of us. We work kind of like plants with the sun as well. We can absorb life energy from the living things around us at will."

"Is that why you're so strong?" Maya asked him as she fired more javelins.

"It plays a part in it but don't tell anyone I told you that though. They won't be very happy about it." Drake said as he shot magic at the ground and made a small fire, "Eating magic is similar for breathing it in. I'm sure you've seen Nashi do it before."

"I'll try." Maya told him with uncertainty. She did how he explained it and she felt a massive surge in her magic, "I feel so much stronger!"

"It's not a permanent increase so try to use it to the best of your ability when you do it on missions." Drake explained as he watched her fire several high powered javelins, "Good you learned that one fast. The last Sacred Art I'm going to explain to you is Consume. I do NOT want you to try this one unless you absolutely need to understand?"

"Got it." Maya told him and he nodded as he motioned for her to follow him. They flew into the sky and he extended his arms.

"Blood Dragon's Sacred Art: Consume!" Drake yelled and Maya saw small blue streams flowed towards his hands. She realized what it was when birds began to fall to the ground and the blue streams formed into a sphere.

"Dad did you kill those birds?" Maya asked as he split the sphere in two and held one out to her.

"That's why I said to only try into when you absolutely need to. For example, if you're facing a strong enemy or a group of them and think you're going to lose. I told you our magic is meant to kill and I meant it." Drake explained as she took the sphere, "I don't like using it but I will in a heart beat if I find it necessary."

"I don't know how i feel about eating this." Maya said and examined the sphere, "It feels wrong."

"I don't blame you but I still need you to." Drake told her as he ate his a sphere. Maya swallowed before doing as she was told. She felt a massive increase in her magic when did and couldn't believe how it felt.

"Why did it feel so good to eat that?" Maya asked him with genuine curiosity. Drake landed on the ground and looked at one of the birds.

"Because it's pure life energy. I stole all of it and killed them instantly. Please don't try it whenever you feel like it. It steals the future from whatever it's used on." Drake told her as he put his hand on her head, "Those are sins that can't be easily forgotten and I know you have a much kinder heart than I do. Things like that don't bother me anymore."

"I promise I won't Dad." Maya told him with a reassuring smile. Drake nodded and saw that it was starting to get dark outside.

"Let's get home before Mira starts to worry." Drake told her and they flew home. Drake's phone started to ring and he saw that Lucy was calling him.

"Go ahead and go inside. I'll be in after im done with this." Drake told her as he answered the phone. Maya went inside the house and was greeted by a happy Mira setting the dinner table. Drake came in shortly after and sta at the table with them.

"What was that about?" Mira asked him as he started to put food on his plate.

"Nashi wants to come train with me and Maya tomorrow. I told her she could but that it's going to be rough." Drake explained and they saw excitement fill Maya's eyes. Drake chuckled and they spent the rest of the night talking about Maya's training.
