1 Spending Time Together

"Hey Dad?" Maya said as she walked into their living room.

"What's up?" Drake asked he stood up and stretched his arms. He gave Maya a confused look when he noticed she was trying to build up the courage for whatever she wanted.

"Woukd you mind training with me?" She asked him. He had been back for a week and during that time he figured out she was also a Blood Dragon Slayer.

"I would love to." Drake told her as he walked towards the door, "You need the proper training to control our magic. I'm guessing you've already lost control before?"

"Yeah I lost control on one of our missions a while back and Nashi had to knock sense into me." Maya explained and Drake nodded in understanding, "Mom told me that Natsu's training could only do so much for me and that I'd have to figure it out like you did."

"I understand why she told you that. Without me around you definitely would've had to." Drake said as they walked to their backyard. They called it the backyard but it was more akin to a field.

"What's the first thing you want to learn?" Drake asked her as he stretched his legs. It had been a few years since he had actually fought anything and he had some rust in his gears.

"Could you teach me how to fight like you?" Maya asked him as a slight blush formed in her cheeks. Drake smiled at how much like him she was. He hated asking other people to teach him things.

"Alright I can do that but first I want to see where you stand in terms of strength." Drake told her as he crossed his arms over his chest, "I can take whatever you throw at me so don't hold back."

"Alright but just remember that you asked for it!" Maya yelled as she rushed him. He blocked and dodged all of her attacks with less ease than he thought he would. He released some of his magic and pushed her back. Maya launched a breath attack at him and his eyes widened when he blocked it. She was actually pushing him back and it made him proud. He suddenly appeared behind her and kicked her back. Maya looked at him with an excited smile and they launched into the air. Mira came outside when the ground started to shake and saw two red streaks crashing into each other above her. She smiled as she looked at their happy faces as they clashed. Drake held his hand up and for her to stop.

"What tired already?" Maya asked him with a smug grin. Drake laughed at her remark and returned the grin.

"You're definitely stronger than I expected but your fighting style is more fit for Mira's magic than ours." Drake explained as they landed on the ground, "That's my own fault though."

"No one is blaming you for not being here Dad." Maya told him as Mira walked up to them. She had no idea how much those words meant coming from her.

"Maya has understood why you weren't hit. since she was young so please don't beat yourself up because of it." Mira said as she wrapped her arms around his shoulders, "What's important is that you're here now."

"I know but it still bothers me." Drake told them and he sat on the grass. They sat next to him and looked at the clouds. Maya began to tell him stories of her adventures with Nashi and everything he had missed. Drake and Maya laid on the grass and basked in the sunlight before slowly falling asleep. After a while Drake woke up and saw Maya sleeping in the grass next to him. He softly picked Maya up and brought her to her room before going to his own.

"Hey Mira." Drake said as he shut their bedroom door, "I'm going to take Maya out on a mission."

"I think that's a good idea." Mira told him as he laid next to and she put her book down, "She won't admit it but she really missed you."

"How do miss someone you never really met?" Drake asked her with a bit of sadness in his voice. He sighed as Mira ran her hand through his hair.

"Maya knew everything about you but she wanted to meet you herself. Besides what child doesn't miss their parents when they leave?" Mira asked and Drake just stared at the ceiling, "You don't understand how much she's taken after you. She has my looks but everything else screams you."

"You have no idea how much I missed you guys. After I escaped I wasn't sure how to face you guys." Drake told her as he closed his eyes, "I figured Maya would hate me and I wouldn't blame her if she did."

"Well I know Maya is happier that you're back than I am. She loves you more than you could ever imagine." Mira explained as she laid her head on his chest. She missed this feeling and snuggled closer to him.

"I understand that she recognized me from the picture but how did she know that she wasn't being tricked?" Drake asked as he wrapped his arm around her. The dimension he was trapped in was ice cold and her warmth was comforting.

"A Dragon's nose never lies. Isn't that what you told me years ago?" Mira asked him and he smiled, "Like I said she only has my looks. Between her magic and personality it was like watching you grow up."

"Tomorrow I'll be bringing her on a mission for sure. Maybe I'll ask Natsu and Gajeel if they want to bring their kids." Drake said and Mira quietly shook her head before he heard her breathing become calmer. He was awake for a while longer before he eventually feel asleep himself.
