2 Chapter 1

Life was normal for Tsumetai. It wasn't perfect, but it wasn't terrible either. At least, she hoped it wouldn't be this year. She woke up to the sound of her alarm, stretching as she yawned. She looked at the clock which read 6:06. that meant she still had time to get dressed and go buy some breakfast. She quickly put on her school uniform and grabbed her school bag. She opened her room door slightly and peeked around for any trace of her mother. 'Thank God' she thought as she saw and heard no trace of her mother. She stealthily crept downstairs, heading to the kitchen. She glanced at the couch in the living room to see her mother sprawled out unconscious on the couch with beer bottles littering the room, some broken. She quickly grabbed her phone off of its charger and looked in her wallet. She had enough to last the week, hopefully. She brought the mail in placing it on the counter gently and sighed as she saw it was just another pile of bills again. She then closed the door as she made her way over to the small shop at which she will soon work part time at, a cat cafe. She arrived not long after her departure from her home and sat down in a booth. She started to get chill bumps and it felt like someone was watching her. she took a quick look around her before shrugging it off as she didn't notice anyone suspicious. She quickly ordered and paid for her breakfast, taking her time to eat. The same feeling of eyes on her came back, yet this time she tried to ignore it. It gave her a queasy feeling in her stomach, like she really should be cautious. She shrugged it off once more. 'They wouldn't do anything to me since I am so close to the school already' she thinks as she enters the gate. She went to her locker putting up books and taking out what she needed for her first class. The queasy feeling in her stomach still remained, no matter how hard she tried to shake it off. She sat down in the front of the classroom as always, watching as her best friend, Max, entered and flashed a smile at her. She returned the gesture and went to work on her bellringer. They had been friends since Pre-K, and neighbors since birth. They were like peanut butter and jelly, and would do anything for each other. Once the whole class arrived and was seated, the teacher stood up. He cleared his throat. "Class, we have a new student today." he announced as he motioned for a tall boy to come up. The boy had Pitch black hair, the ends dyed a bright and noticeable silver. His eyes were a cold piercing blue, as if you stare long enough into them then they will drown you. He takes a quick glance at everyone before sighing. "Hello, my name is Kira Morningstar." he introduced himself. "please take good care of me." he says bowing slightly as his voice was monotone. He walked back to his desk, next to Tsumetai. Tsumetai's queasy feeling got even stronger as the new student sat down next to her.

School soon ended, but Tsumetai's queasy feeling had not. She walked home with Max, as always, not mentioning the sickening feeling of being watched. Tsumetai froze as she stood at the doorway of her house. Her mother was most likely awake by now, and she dreaded entering. Max noticed and knew what was wrong, putting a hand on her shoulder for reassurance. She sighs. "I don't want to come out with more scars…" she said, barely above a whisper. Max knew of her situation and pulled her into a hug. He would've put her mom in jail by now if Tsumetai hadn't begged him not to. Sure, her mother beat her. Though, deep inside, Tsumetai hoped that her mother still loved her. Max always suggested running away, to which she talks about still having hope that her mom will change. "Tsu, it's been years. She won't change and you need to face it. You are my best friend in this whole universe, and I don't like seeing you hurt like this." he said as he turned her to look at him. She glances at him before looking down at her feet, mumbling something incoherently. "Thanks for caring max, but i can't run away from this problem.." she says giving a slight smile before entering her home, where she would face the devil tonight.
