1 Training

"If he keeps talking about his stats increasing one more time, I will punch him in the face."

"If you keep talking about punching him one more time, I will punch you in the face."

I sighed and let go of my bows string. Arrow whistled in the air and hit the middle of my target.

"Nice shot."

I looked back at two people talking.

"You guys been resting for more than 5 minutes. Go back to sparring!"

I kicked the guy.

"Come on Burak! We been training for 3 hours!"

Doğukan cried out. I kicked him harder.

"Be a man. Look at Leyla. Does she ever complain?"

Leyla raised her hand.

"Actually I…."

I pulled a throwing knife from my belt and threw it. It pierced the ground between her legs.

"I am sorry? I almost thought you said something."

"Hehe, nothing!"

She just laughed off.

"I know it is hard."

I turned back to my target. I slowly pulled an arrow from my quiver. I placed my it to my bow and pulled string back. I heard wooden part of my bow bend. My back muscles flexed. I let it go. Previous arrow stuck middle of my target was spilt to two by my new shot.

"But our Gifts are not Growing type. Only way we can keep going is by using our abilities to its fullest."

"If we save some money we can buy some Skill Books."

Doğukan said with ambitious voice.

"Good luck saving that much money dumbass."

Leyla shot down his suggestion.-

"Come on! We can at least get some low tier books!"

"And what are you going to do with low tier abilities?"

Doğukan's energetic voice contrasted with Leyla's cynical tone.

"Leyla is right."

I took another arrow.

"But if you guys keep slacking off, I will shoot my next arrow directly into your empty skulls."

They finally lifted their weapons and started sparring. I ran towards my target and pulled the arrow from it. Despite being deeply stuck at wooden target I pulled it easily. I looked at the other arrow I broke my shooting my arrow to it.

"I wasted one arrow for style points."

I chuckled to myself and returned back. I sighed as I looked at my target. It just stood there, unmoving. I also had no danger to worry about here. I could take my time with taking out an arrow from my quiver. I could lazily place it to my bow. I could take my aim with calm breaths and without moving. My target didn't moved or tried to attack me.

"Too easy."

I closed my eyes before firing. When I opened my eyes I saw that I hit bullseye once again. It was easy to shot like this especially with:

Hawkeye D+

Shooting D

Throwing D

A pure ranged build. It was my abilities that made my mother at least a little bit at ease. Since my abilities only allowed me fight in ranged, I could kill monsters without getting hurt. That's it in theory, of course. Real battlefield was… Different. Despite being a Gifted my abilities were Static and not Growing type. That meant that none of my abilities would grow in rank. I also couldn't get any other abilities. Well, except Skill Books but how I am supposed to afford one? Plus getting stronger meant I would go into harder missions. Missions with more danger. My mother would kill me before I would even think about it. After training for some time I called others back.

"Okay, this is enough for today."

I looked at my sweat covered friends. They threw their hands to air in a sign of relief.

"Monday will be hard. Rest well tomorrow."

I said to them as I picked up my equipment.

"Aren't we going to clear Dire Wolf Nest again? We been here for like around hundred times."

Doğukan complained.

"I know that place better than inside of my palm."

Leyla also added.

"That's how you get killed. Also that dumbass will be our team leader again."

I saw the dissatisfaction in their faces.

"Wait, why not you?"

Leyla asked to me.

"Orders are from higher place."

I answered. Leyla stomped her feet to ground.

"Just because he has a Growing Gift!"

"Does that means you are our leader again?"

Doğukan also asked a question. I chuckled.

"With a less pay, yeah."

Since that Volkan was a shitty leader, it usually fall to me to coordinate clears. Volkan Taş was a magician with Growing Gift. He also came from a rich family and had connection. That two things made him worth more in the eyes of Headmaster than 3 of us combined.

"Doğukan don't eat a lot of food before the raid. Leyla, I don't want to carry your equipment like the last time. Now, you can go. Rest well. Have a good day."

Both of them looked at the setting Sun.

"Or night. Now go away before I make you run several kilometers."

I shoo them away. Hearing the mention of running both of them turned around and started to ran towards the building.

"Goodbye Burak!

"See you at Monday!"

I smirked as I saw them run.

"You don't even run this fast while we are training."

But they just sprinted with mention of more training, huh? Maybe I should use that in our next training sessions. Picking up my items, I cleaned the training grounds a little. I was about to change my clothes and shower but then…

"Yoo Burak! What are you doing?"

For fucks sake. Can't you just leave me alone. I looked at the smirking face the man who called me. I guess he was handsome.

"Just finished training. Hitting the showers."

I turned from him and answered without looking his face.

"Come on! Uh, sweaty!"

He grabbed my arm. Feeling the sweat he quickly let go.

"Told you. Just finished the training. I am pretty sweaty."

I quickly escaped from where he was.

"Escaped successfull."

I said to myself.
