Blood God

[Descendance: Blood God]

Indeed, Lex was the descendant of the Blood God. Like every other victim of the slumber, once he entered the world, he became the descendant of a God.

Since there were more resters than Gods, it wasn't too uncommon for two descendants of the same God to meet, in fact it was somewhat commonplace around the more populated settlements.

Yet, the Blood God was a bit different. Before the slumber, he'd never heard of any descendants of the Blood God.

In fact, the Blood God himself was only mentioned in passing by researchers of the strange dreamworld, also known as Axel. Why Axel? Because he was the first victim of the slumber to reawaken and survive the ordeal, saving many others in the process. Some even saw him as a God himself.

However, he was far from it, and eventually his mortality was proven with his death.

"Your armour is made from blood?"

Hanz grimaced.

'How fitting for such a monster' he thought.

"Pretty much. It's tougher than diamond, more or less" Lex replied.

When Lex woke up in the dreamworld, he soon checked his status and realised his descent. Since it was such an uncommon God, it ended up quite difficult to find out the true capabilities as kin of the God. In the end, it was a double-edged sword, being the descendant of such an unheard of God.

Whilst others did not know the extent of his power, or even how it worked, neither did he. And that wasn't exactly helpful was it?

In essence, he could possess an extremely powerful ability yet be completely oblivious and end up another weak dreamer, and die....painfully. No one ever said it was easy being a dreamer. Many never made it home.

"That's a really good ability. So your ability is support-based?"

Lex nodded. Of course, he was lying.

Rule number one of the dreamworld: don't trust fucking anything, human or not.

In this world, survival and power was everything. Whilst items would die with the dreamer, that didn't mean killing humans wasn't fruitful.

The system treated everything equally, and humans also had a chance of dropping an item. In addition to that, any divinity they gained could be taken by the one who killed them, just like one would gain more divinity by killing monsters.

Oh, but whilst everyone generalised them as monsters, it was a little confusing when diving into rankings, since monster was one of those ranks, and the lowest.

In ascending order: Monster, Fright, Demon, Horror, Nightmare. For your first slumber, meeting a Fright seemed like the worst things that could happen...but it wasn't. Since, in the end, you could end up meeting a Nightmare aswell.

Of course, it was rare. But it wasn't unheard of.

"I see. Can you not augment your sword also?"

Lex was perfectly capable. And in fact, he had, just not as obvious as normal.

Looking like the dry blood of creatures he'd slain, and technically it was, was the incredibly sharp tip he'd put on the blade using the same blood he'd used for his armour.

Normally, he covered the whole blade in hardened blood in order to prevent it shattering as well, however he had taken it off in the dark forest during one of his episodes, only being able to recover using some of the blood from his arm, the one with the gaping bite mark in it, in order to increase the sharpness of his blade.

In the end, he wasn't too bothered Hanz knew his ability, yet he wasn't too happy either.

What if Hanz started spreading it? Then it would no longer be a surprise to any potential future enemies. Then again, what reason would he have to do that? Right now, Lex was just another dreaming nobody.

"Since I can't do your armour, I'll do your blade. I can only really do one item for you, since my energy is limited"

Lex didn't mind. A better sword was enough. In fact, it was a blessing that Hanz was willing to boost one of Lex's items, especially considering Lex was ready to kill him not too long ago.

'Perhaps I'm still rather insane at the moment'

He remembered the violent laughter he'd exerted before killing the beast.

'Definitely'

Hanz grasped the Dao, and not a moment later, it glowed. With a strange yellowish glow around it, it seemed to be warping. A small difference yet also significant enough to notice. It seemed as though the very makings of the weapon were changing. And then, it was over.

It seemed so simple.

[Item: Thors Dao]

[Rank: Warped]

'That's...wow' he thought, surprised.

I mean, whilst that was exactly what he'd expected, knowing it was to be increased by a rank, the idea that someone had the ability to do that was quite shocking. That was just another ability Lex had never heard of before.

Now, he wondered from what God the young man had become a descendant of. It must be an obscure one.

However, he discarded that useless thought. In the end, it didn't really matter. If he didn't know of the God, what exactly could he get from knowing the God's name? Not much if anything at all.

Anyways, there was something more important he had to think about...the drop he'd gotten from the Fright.

As Hanz began to skin the Fright's corpse, in hopes of something to eat, Lex sneakily summoned the item.

Suddenly, a blue light in the shape of a heart materialised before the heart itself soon rested in Lex's palm.

It was beating violently, yet no blood seemed to come out. Whilst he'd expected it to be crimson, it was in fact dark-purple. It almost seemed alive, and yet also eerily robotic. It beat with vigour and yet pumped out no blood at all, as though it was only beating on command, to pretend it was alive.

It seemed staring at it would not help him understand it. It was time to appraise it.

[Item: Befouled Heart]

[Rank: Corrupt]

'H-How...?'
