10 Uninvited Guest

No memories came to me. I knew that this could be either very good or very bad. In this situation I wasn't sure which would be the better choice, and so I remained quiet about such information.

""Again, we will test it out to ensure that it is effective for sunlight exposure," Elder ensured me.

"Thank you," I bowed once again.

"Remember, sweet princess, what you should, and shouldn't discuss from now," Elder Sothe warned me as he dismissed me. I waited a moment bowing before getting up and leaving the room.

As I walked outside, I was hit with the reality, and confusion.

The real question I had was what do I now? What would be considered 'normal' behavior for me now?

I mean, for gods sake, I'm suppose to have Elder memories now!

I couldn't think of anything but to return to my dwelling. I couldn't just go out to the cabin immediately after this, again, I just memories from an Elder. Besides the fact that they would be closely monitoring me, and it would jeopardize my story and the Nephilese.

I had to appear loyal, and reflective.

I was being reflective, but it wasn't based on the fact that they thought I had all her memories, but rather the fact I didn't see anything.

In all the knowledge that the Nephilese gained about blood memories and Punishers drinking blood, I was an exception. No one had any idea why.

Even more alarming was the fact I could manipulate memories, make false ones and make it appear believable. Who knew what was really going on here, because I certainly didn't have a clue.

I got to my dwelling and slowly shut the door. Someone had been inside recently. There was no smell, no dust, and nothing out of place.

It wasn't right, it felt abnormal. It was as if someone came in looking for something without trying to put anything out of place, and trying to not leave a trace behind that they were there.

I paused at the door and waited. Three minutes, thirty minutes. There was no noise, but it still didn't feel right.

"Get out now," I finally ordered.

Slowly, a figure came out from the bathroom. "Quite on edge, aren't we?" a familiar voice said.

Treminson.

"What is it that your looking for?" I asked.

"To see what makes you so.... special," he answered.

I moved forward to the den, opening up a bottle of vodka and pulling out two glasses from the cabinet and placing them on the table. "Sit," I gestured to the lounge chair.

"I don't need a drink," he said as he went to sit.

"I didn't ask if you needed it," I replied pouring vodka into both cups. "Seeing as you broke into my home, I don't see why you should be telling me what 'you' need."

I placed the glass down with a thud in front of him. I sat down and leaned back into my armchair and gestured for him to continue on.

"Your different, in several ways. Your thoughts move too quickly to identify the reason for your feelings, and your thoughts not only move too quickly, they are also incoherent as they die out and come back-- like a radio that's signal is too far out.

"Then, low-and-behold, the Elders give you their blood! First they think your with this--group of terrorists, then they treat you like the greatest hero of the cities history!

"Its entertaining. It's intriguing," he leaned forward lifting the cup off the table chuckling to himself.

I sat leaned back in my chair, swirling the cup lazily in my hand, draped over the armrest listening to his ramble.

"As much as I appreciate the praise for my loyalty to the city and the Elders. Although, I find your obsession with me a bit troubling," I replied before taking a tentative sip.

"Why would you say I have an obsession?" he asked inquisitively.

"How else would you go through my dwelling with everything exactly back into it's place, which makes me wonder, how do you like my dwelling?" I asked trying to throw him off.

He didn't fall for it, draining his glass placing it on the table. "It was very plain, you need a bit of color, and decor. It's not very difficult to put the few items in place that you have.

"Otherwise, I just find that all the chips don't seem quite in place."

I picked the bottle back up and poured him and myself more vodka, gently placing it back onto the table.

"To elaborate, for instance, how you were able to identify that someone was in your dwelling the minute you opened the door, with no evidence to show the contrary," he further explained, picking his cup back up again.

"Well, you and I are both aware that the Blood Pool allows a person to gain memories of all the past ancestors of the city.

"Having the knowledge, I honed in on all those who were military based. I find it to be more helpful in our line of work, especially given my circumstances at the moment."

"The Blood Pool does not contain any memories of agents under any special operations training.

"Certainly the memories of military personnel are not elaborate enough to identify the necessary level of skill to identify someone had been in the dwelling, let alone still inside," he countered.

"You can feel that it doesn't add up, but in cases like these, we both know that all the chips never fit into place until the end game," I said in finality.

We sat quietly for a moment, observing each other carefully, thoughtfully sipping our vodka.

He finished his drink, and stood up. He casually walked up beside my arm chair leaning down to hand me his glass. As I grasp it, he snapped and grabbed my wrist tightly.

Leaning down he whispered in my ear seductively, "I hope that your loyalty extends further in the future, my princess."
