Prologue

Darkness...

The whole place she was in right now was nothing but shades and shadows. In her eyes, the greenery that surrounds the place looks bleak and lifeless; it is as if the devil himself decided to devour the remaining light in the world just like how it devours the remaining hope in her heart. Slowly, her eyes turns to the man that's pointing a gun on her. His face is void with any emotion, no hate, no sadness, no anger or even regret.

Series of tears falls on endlessly on her flawless cheeks upon recognising his face. Her heart aches at the fact that the person who's holding the gun is the same person she wouldn't hesitate to shield a bullet for.

A weak smile make its way to her pale lips as he pulls the trigger. Shooting her directly on her head. Somehow, she is thankful that he wanted to give her a quick death.

Her body falls flat into the hard and dirty road. Definitely not the most comfortable way to die in her own opinion but she is not really in the position to complain. Her eyes focus on the dark sky above as she lays on the ground motionless. She doesn't even have strength to move but she forced herself to keep her eyes open for the last few seconds of her life. The man slowly walks towards her, the sound of his footsteps echoed in the lonely and dark alley.

Tears in mixed with her blood falls down continuously from her eyes while looking at the dim sky above. She cannot see a single star, it seems that even the heaven refuse to show its magnificent splendor to her even for the last time. All she sees is the first quarter moon that gives off a pale glow to her sunless life. She looks at the man when he stops walking right beside her. For the second time, the man points the gun at her then without a second thought, he pulls the trigger. Taking away the remaining life inside her, taking her last hope to live and be free.

She close her eyes with her tears streaming down to her cheeks as she welcomed death with open arms. Maybe she deserves this after all; maybe her own blood is enough to wash her bloody hands that take away lives of countless people. Maybe, it's enough to wash away all of her sins.

Nahigit niya ang kaniyang paghinga at agad siyang napabangon. Takang inilibot niya ang tingin sa paligid. Her memory of what happened to her is vague; all she remember is waking up in the middle of the road holding a 45 caliber. She force herself to stands up from the dirty road and look curiously around her, then her eyes settled on the gun on her hand. One question pops on her mind. Why are the people around her seems not aware of her existence? She is holding a deadly weapon that can surely kill someone with just one pull of the trigger but all of them seems don't care at all. They didn't even bother to take a glance at her. Hindi niya mapigilan ang mapakunot ang noo habang inililibot ang tingin sa paligid. Well this is funny. For who would be interested in a teenage girl that's wearing a torn and dirty dress, holding a deadly weapon on her hand while standing in the middle of busy street? Yeah, surely no one!

She close her eyes and tries to remember the last thing that happened before she ends up on this situation. To her dismay all she sees is unending darkness with echoing sounds of a gunshot. Tears roll down on her dirty cheeks, her heart is aching and she feels betrayed but she can't grasp any fragments of her past.

Nothing but darkness, that's all she can remember. She open her eyes and look around the people that surrounds her, they are all busy doing their own daily routine. She started to take a small step forward without a certain direction to go. She can't remember her name, who is she? Why is she on this place? Why is she holding a gun?

"Where I am?" She asked to herself in a hoarse voice while walking.

"A girl was found dead in this street last night." Napalingon siya sa estudyanteng nagsalita. The student looks like same age as her.

"Yeah, that was scary. They said she committed a suicide since she was holding the gun but the investigator concludes that it could be a murder." Her heart race upon hearing the girl's word.

Napalunok siya at napatitig sa hawak niyang baril. Is she the girl they are talking about? Is she the girl that was found dead?

"Wait miss!" Wika niya upang kuhanin ang atensyon nito ngunit tila wala itong narinig. She suddenly felt desperate. Sinubukan niyang hawakan ang braso nito upang iharap ito sa kanya ngunit tila hangin lang na tumagos sa balat nito  ang kamay niya.

She takes a one step backward and hold her wrist near her heart. Muli ay isa isang pumatak ang luha sa mga mata niya. She can't feel her hearbeat, her inside feels so hollow and lifeless. A painful realization hits her. She's dead, another soul that will be seeking justice for her death.
