The folklore of The Thorn Tribe

In a very long time ago, there is a group of people coming from the sea, where some of the women of them who are so gifted with healing. They always traveling, never stay in one place. We called them the Fragrance People. They always smelled good and been neared them make people feel at ease and calm. Our people encounter them a few times.

The leader of the Fragrance People, Binmo fell in love with our leader's younger sister, Leah. And Leah brother, Palvis seems to set his eyes on Pearl after meeting her together with her people. One of the twins that were gifted with healing ability in Fragrance People Clan. Both leaders make a pact. Binmo agrees to stay here with his people and set family with Leah.

To return the favor for giving land for them to live, Binmo agrees to treat our sickness or injury. As long two conditions aren't violated. One of them is regarding a woman known as Pearl. Binmo knew Palvis has a strong interest towards Pearl.

But Pearl is one of the special women among his people. Palvis must be sincerely pursued Pearl using a messenger, but if Pearl refuses up until three full moons passed. It will be the end of it. And Palvis must respect her decision and stay away from her and Fragrance People Clan new land near the forest. Because Binmo as a leader must protect Pearl and her twin.

The second condition is never revealed or question their method in treatment. To uphold that condition, other than patients, the outsider cannot enter the Fragrance People's compound. They must send and leave the patient in front of the Gate Fragrance People and can wait outside the gate to retrieve the patient after treatment.

Even though Palvis are Binmo brother in law, he still is considered outsider because he wasn't born among Fragrance People. If Palvis want to meet Leah, he just met her outside the gate.

Days by day Palvis, without abandon his duty as a chief, he will spend his day trying to pursue Pearl. He sends gifts, flower, poems and so many things to win her heart. The promised time almost up and so far all his efforts still bore fruitless result. He must find a chance to meet her so the words he can convey how much he loves her. One of his friends says the best way is to confess in front of her. A few days before the third full moon showing its face, Palvis make a hard decision. Palvis and selected loyal people broke the gate when Binmo and other loyal man was deep in the forest looking for food and plants for medicine.

After some intense fight, the barrier of defense was broken and Palvis at last meet Pearl face to face. Pearl after seen how earnest he is in pursuing her, at last return his feelings. And Binmo doesn't have the heart to separate the lovebird, giving his consent for this union.

Afterward, The Fragrance People change their name to be Thorn Tribe. Together our people and Thorn Tribe live separately but together side by side. And that new couple, Palvis, and Pearl live happily ever after.
