5 Chapter Five

In the dark corridors of the cold castle where lived the undead, not quite dead nor alive in the way that people are. In the castle they existed, satisfying their desires and feasting on the blood of humans that were lured in by their unique beauty. The albino hybrid drove around in her small, pink barbie car with a matching pink leather jacket and sunglasses purposefully making sure to anger and annoy every full blooded vampire in sight but honking at them if they were unlucky enough to stand in her path.

"Do you have a death wish or something?" asked Oliver who was on guard duty that day. It was actually James' turn but he couldn't handle the 'she devil' as he oh-so-affectionately called Cheryl, so he did what adults do. He cried till Oliver accepted.

"They aren't allowed to kill me, anyways"

They took a turn on the left wing of the halls the lights opening automatically when they sensed their movements. A soft red glow lightened their features. Cheryl looked at the blonde man, observing how his skinny face was highlighted by the red color of the hall making him very handsome. Especially when he smiled her way

"That doesn't mean we are incapable of staging an accident"

"Eh, well," the girl shrugged "eighteen years of life is eighteen years too many"

"If I could last for one century, then so can you"

"A century? Ew"

The two passed made their way out of the hallway, reaching a round corridor in the middle of which was a marble statue. The statue was of a man, standing tall and powerful with baring his fangs at the creature beneath him. The creature obviously wounded, with its marble fur torn apart, ready to fight with its last ounce of life.

Oliver noticed Cheryl staring at it, opening hs mouth to explain the history behind it she snapped her eyes away from it and drove her small car away. Accepting the fact that her age made her uninterested in stuff like that, he continued to follow her around as they cracked up a random conversation.

"Can I break her neck?"

"No"

"Just a little bit?"

"James"

"Pleasssse?"

James winced in pain after getting elbowed on his side by Elijah who didn't even spare him a look. He was far too busy watching Cheryl paint Mason's nails a vibrant pink color even though the man wanted a pastel pink. A fight started between the two but once Cheryl suggested glitter Mason relented. At least there was glitter.

And that's how a six foot tall buff man ended up seatting on the pink sheets of the hybrid's beds in her room of the same color scheme along side her other three babysitters who unfortunately were going to look after her for some time (which they suspected but that didn't mean that James didn't throw tantrum)

"If you want she can do your nails too, Jamie" If looks could kill Oliver would be six feet under the ground but the blonde just smiled in the face of danger known as James "I'm pretty sure she has purple, your favorite"

"I do!" the girl confirmed grabbing a purple nail polish and showing it to them while putting the finishing touches on Mason's nails. After that silence fell as everyone was busy doing their own thing. Cheryl getting Mason's nails done, Oliver dozing off while making some comments here and there, Elijah sketching and James glaring at the distance with an empty gaze.

That empty gaze was replaced by eyes going wide with excitement and an evil smile. Oliver quickly went to Cheryl's side "Whatever he says, you say no, ok?" Cheryl nodded obediently in spite of her confusion.

But when James turned to her with that evil look on his face and said "You are bored right? Wanna go to the training grounds?" the girl excitedly nodded making Oliver sigh in defeat burrying his face in his hands.

Mason looked at his pink nails, examining the glitter in the light "Nice"

Watching Cheryl act like she was Rocky while singing the Eye of the Tiger Elijah wondered how quickly she would realise the current situation she was in. The answer to that question was a few seconds.

That's all it took for Cheryl to panic once she saw her oponnent who was three time her size causing her to back up in a corner, eyes wide "What's that?"

"Thats!" James appeared putting an arm around the huge guys shoulders who had his eyes glued on the albino with a feral look "My best friend, as of right now" With a wide smile he motioned for him to move forward as Cheryl tried to bury herself inside the wall eyes flickering to Elijah begging for help wondering if this is how her life would end.

The older vampire let out a roar, hitting his gloved hands together before marching forward preparing a pnuch for the hybrid. Cheryl ducked out of the way as his fist hit the wall causing pieces of it to fall to her hair. When she looked up she marveled at the hole he had created with just his fist for a second, then she crawled under his legs dashing to stand behind Elijah who put his hands in front of her protectively.

"I have a small feeling, call it a hybrid's intuition, that James doesn't really like me"

"How could you tell?"

"Elijah!" James marched towards the two with long strides "She needs to learn self defense"

"No, I don't. Back me up" she whispered the last part in Elijah's ear, never taking her eyes away from the mountain that was now removing his glove, clenching and unclenching his fist preparing to continue the battle.

And so, another arguement started between Elijah and James with Cheryl throwing some comments of encouragment to Elijah here and there. Meanwhile, Mason and Oliver watched the whole scene unfold through the glass that seperated the huge battle room from the rest of the gym.

"Do you think Elijah will win?" wondered Mason outloud while examining their expressions.

"I mean, he always does." Oliver shrugged as he also watched James get in Elijah's face, being used to it by now he redirected his attention elsewhere. He took Mason's hand in his to examine his nails "Pink looks good on you"

That small comment was enough to make the taller man smile.

Later, when the sun had given it's place to the moon James was walking down the hallways looking for Elijah. While still angry he realized that maybe he took it too far, besides he never could handle the silent treatment after one of their arguements. As he was planning what he was going to say to the other male vampire he froze when a familiar smell hit his nostrils. He focused on the smell as he took a left turn down the hallway, opposite to the right he inteded to go to reach Elijah's room.

He stopped when he stumbled upon a body, and with a tired sigh he walked around it, carefully not to mess up his shoes with the blood that the body was surrended in, pouring out of the body's throat. He took in how the female vampires hand had fallen limp on her chest, as she with her last breath tried to stop the bleeding with her hand, to no avail.

She had beautiful blonde hair, she was dressed in a black elegant dress that reached her ankles and she had a pair of high cheekbones and beautiful dark red lipstick on her luscious lips.

James deadpanned, "Hurray"
