18 Chapter Eighteen

High hills echoed through the dark halls against the black and white marble floors in a fast pace. Cheryl took a turn to her left, her face wearing a mean expression as she kept clenching and unclenching her fists on her sides trying to calm down her anger.

Think, think, calm down and fucking think. That was playing in her head for the past 10 minutes like a mantra as the white haired girl recalled the events that had upset her so.

Everything was going perfect in her opinion. She was once more spending 'quality time' with her father in his office like she had been doing for the past few days. It had become a routine for the two to spend hours together discussing about varying subjects of different importance. Yet never of too much importance, something that the young girl had anticipated but wasn't exactly happy with. Still, she tried to drive their small chats to matters of greater importance, though she failed most of the time with the king not even caring enough to entertain what he had labelled as curiosity.

Fine, she was okay with it. Patience was a virtue she was trying to master anyways.

Soon, their time together had to come to an end as he had duties to attend to. So, Cheryl got up, smoothed her black dress and headed for the door, moving to open it. But as her hand went to wrap around the handle, the doors where throw open and Cheryl had to admit she got a sense of deja vu since she was in a similar situation some time ago, only difference she was at the other side of the door whereas now she was on the inside.

Like, the last time she came face to face with people she had never faced before, but could feel that they were important. Maybe not as important as the black veiled trio, important nonetheless and definetely strong and arrogant. Arrogant for their status of being full blooded vampires or just their position, she did not know and she did not care, she was far too busy trying not to return the mean look of disgust they were sending her. Instead she looked up at wearing a confused and innocent expression of naivety over their status and identities.

The girl did not break her starring even when her father put a hand on her shoulder as he passed by her to greet the gathered ones, who broke their glares on her to give polite greetings to their king. Cheryl took that opportunity to observe them. The one at the front was a strict looking man with a rough appearance that did not get any better by his attempt to a smile, his dark eyes, that matched his short hair, remained stoic, cold and calculating.

Behind him, on both sides, there were two brunnetes; on his right side the brunnete was a female who also appeared to be quite stoic as she analyzed Cheryl herself, who in return gave her a sweet smile before turning her attention to the male brunnete that was on the lead mans left. Just like the two girls he was observing, the difference is that he was observing the room. He was particularly interested in the windows, as far as the albino could tell.

Next, there were four others but because of the black hoods that covered them completely the girl could not make out much. And on the far back, there was Cheryl's very own guard. She was about to make her way over to them, since the new comers made her feel both uneasy and unwelcomed. When the girl that had been observing her stepped forward, a bit too close to Cheryl for comfort, in spite of that she remained still, only arching an eyebrow at the brunette while holding eye contact.

The girl was extremely beautiful, and strong looking, now that she stood so close to her their height difference was almost overwhelming. Almost. The brunette, who obviously had never heard of boundaries and personal space before, moved her eyes to the silver chain decorating the albinos neck before taking it in her hand. "That's pretty" she complimented looking into purple eyes once more.

"Thanks" Cheryl sneered making the girl smile at the fact that she managed to mak eher lose her cool before stepping back three paces with a bow, allowing her to pass by. Cheryl blinked trying to regain her composure, looking around she was thankful for the fact that the others did not consider them important enough to pay any attention to them. So, she moved past the girl, and from the corner of her eyes she could see that the girl was still following her every movement with a sly smile.

The albino did not stop walking when she moved close to her four guards, instead choosing to move past them and just say something along the lines of "I need some air". Of course that would translate into 'don't follow me' but considering what happened the last time she was left alone the males did not seem too inclined to allow her some personal time and followed her from a distance.

"Who were they?" she finally asked after some silent minutes.

Elijah took it upon himself to explain "That was Count-"

"Not them" she cut him off "The other three, with the black veils"

"They are a bit more complicated" Oliver said, rubbing the back of his neck

Cheryl halted and the four did the same, waiting patiently for her next question when she did a sudden turn, her ponytail barely avoiding hitting her in the mouth, and with a dramatic movement she exclaimed "To the library!"
