2 Chapter 1 - A Random Chance Encounter

"Shii....Mon.....Shiii...Mon.....Shii...Mon....Sigh perhaps the not-so-thinly veiled criticism insinuating how I'm wasting my life isn't too far off the mark.....Still thing's could be worse, after all my undeniably stunning girlfriend Anna had graciously decided to once again grace me with her presence.

Anna the girl with whom I've spent countless days analysing various truly life-changing topics including: Is sweetener really just sugar in disguise? Why can't I ever boil the right amount of pasta? Or more importantly why do medium size shirts from different shops all fit completely differently, like who the hell is regulating this crap?

Wait where was I going with this? Ahh yes all these topics and more were discussed at length with my Anna..... Voluptuous, intelligent, witty, short curly auburn hair (I have a thing for curly hair) and without a blemish in sight. Anna was truly the embodiment of perfection, as if in reality she was just an extremely detailed two dimensional anime character.

You'd imagine that as I sat on my bed aimlessly scrolling through recently downloaded ultra high definition images of my sexy animated girlfriend, internally I would be a lifeless prisoner held captive by the soul crushing feelings of lonely depression...Ohh but how wrong you'd be.

You see my precariously unlucky three dimensional friends; Myself and Anna never have disagreements, there's literally no requirement to remember birthday's or anniversaries, I never have to spend my non-existent money on gifts and finally the few days of the month you "normal" male homo-sapiens spend desperately avoiding the so-called "beast" will thankfully never be a fate to befall one such as myself....Yep definitely my kind of girl!!

"SHIMON.....Out of bed and get to school THIS INSTANT!!!!" The hint of a smile momentarily pursed across my lips as I heard Mum's perfect pronunciation of my name as she angrily bellowed out towards me. Taking a deep breath I gathered my clothes and scurried towards the shower, unwilling to provide Miss Valdez any tiny excuse to publicly execute me upon my grand return.

================================================================

Whichever aspiring fashion designer had developed our awful school uniform needed to take a long hard look at themselves. Our uniform consisted of an extremely loose fitting garishly green blazer with matching trousers, set above the plainest white shirt imaginable. I felt like a 1950's pop star who's taken a very wrong turn in his life, and considering I've only been alive for roughly 17 years that still left plenty of time for hilarity to ensue.

After failing miserably to look even half presentable; I bolted downstairs, taking a seat at my usual spot as I grasped my spoon and mentally prepared myself to ingest whatever delectable food Mum had carefully prepared for her favourite son.

"Mum's already left, I graciously took the liberty to make you some cereal and tea because you took way too long as per usual Onii." (Japanese for older brother, her pet name for me from when we were growing up – pronounced Oh-Knee).

Judging from my previous anecdote, you would correctly have guessed that the incredibly pretty blonde currently sat across the table nibbling her finely buttered toast was my intellectually superior younger sister Eve. Gleaming blonde hair brushing past her sports-toned waist, supremely athletic and toned, piercing green eyes and naturally busty, not to mention being the girl's student council president; You'd forgive me for feeling tiny pangs of jealousy towards her seemingly picturesque lifestyle.

Siblings are bound by blood and therefore will inherently care for one another, however certain incidences over the years had birthed an increasing distance between us. In general commonalities in attitudes between siblings would act as a foundation through which bridges can be built. Sadly Eve's intense drive for success coupled with her extremely popularity were far too dissimilar to my laid back and relaxed lifestyle and therefore our relationship failed to flourish.

Setting aside my preconceived bias, Eve's delectable breakfast earned my thanks as I hurriedly scoffed it down and waited patiently at the door. Eve's meticulously methodical movements were oddly hypnotic as she finished eating, cleaned and slid her fluffy pink hoody over her perfectly curved shoulders. Walking closely besides one another we began our daily silent walk towards Lavender High.

==============================================================

Wearily placing my pathetically cheap and intensely sound-leaking headphones into my ears, I began thinking about all the predictably boring events likely to befall me on this typically dreary day. Even to a supremely lazy individual such as myself, the lack of unpredictability and surprises in my days felt like I had somehow cheated those who died fighting for freedom....I'm 99% sure they didn't die for days like these.

Following our short walk to school, I'd attend registration and then class whereby I'd calmly wear my appropriate (listening intently face) whilst actually thinking up incredibly imaginative new methods to indulge in my video game addiction upon my return home. Fast forward to lunch where due to my unerring inability to wake up early enough to prepare a well balanced lunch, I'd most likely have to buy some heart-attack inducing crap from the cafeteria. Well could be worse I suppose...

"Hey Shimon."

A mixture of being immediately and so inconceivably wrong (sprinkled with a hint of social awkwardness) left me frozen where I stood, as I instinctively flicked off my music and glanced towards Eve who had also stopped in kind. The familiar dulcet tones that had suddenly caressed my ear-drums definitely belonged to a female and therefore I daresay I was in uncharted territory. However following a momentary loss of concentration, Eve (hiding a wry smile) contrived to hit me with a cheeky little push as she scurried away leaving me to deal with the situation on my lonesome.

Taking a deep breath to provide even a modicum of composure before turning around proved fruitless, my mind becoming immediately filled with an infinite number of unspeakable words towards Eve as I recognised the source of the voice.

"Oh....Lucy...Hahaha heyyyy...Nice weather isn't it??"

Lucy looked up towards the cloud filled sky as (almost on cue) tiny raindrops immediately began falling on her beautiful viridescent eyes causing her to blink and turn away. Nice going Einstein, clearly the suave and confident Shimon of your pathetically unrealistic dreams wont be making an appearance any time this century!!!

"Um yeah.....I mean I guess if you like this kind of weather..... I'd label myself more of a summer sunshine person."

Yeah why wouldn't you? Lucy Hardy aka the class representative and permanent member of the upper echelons of the schools hierarchy: Idolised by droves of her fellow peers for being beautiful, studious, ambitious, extremely friendly and above all doing so whilst being the height of a slightly enlarged turnip.....Ok that may have been a slight exaggeration but you get my point. For all intents and purposes Lucy was the embodiment of a picture-perfect high school role model; Straight black hair down to her shoulders, slim but naturally busty and with thighs known to turn any men in the close vicinity into ravenous dogs.

"Aha....Yeah guess my joke kind of backfired there eh??? Hey it's getting late so I guess we should hurry right?" Unable to gaze directly towards Lucy, my forced smile immediately faded as I stared towards the floor fraught with embarrassment.

Providing me with a small sympathetic laugh, Lucy sheepishly mimicked my action by staring towards the floor for the duration of our walk. Arriving at the school gate Lucy gave me a little wave as we parted ways and then hurriedly proceeded onwards towards the girls locker room.

If I'm honest I've always harboured a tiny crush on Lucy (though I definitely wasn't alone in this) and therefore were I to read too deep into this accidental meeting it could potentially result in dangerous permanent emotional turmoil. Lucy was genuinely friendly however the path's we tread are akin to two parallel roads with seemingly no intersection in sight and therefore I'll maintain my typically cynical attitude and treat this situation as is.....A random chance encounter.
