2 The Feral's

Finally coming to a rest at the bottom of the steps, Yukari barely had time to register what had happened. Disoriented from hitting her head on the ground, she quickly scrambled to her feet to see what had pounced on her. Looking towards where the figure was crouched, she sighed. Just my luck, she thought.

The thing standing crouched before her no longer had a rational mind. What stood before her was a feral vampire, a being which had gone mad from thirst. Usually, a vampire could blend in with society and pass themselves off as humans, but there were instances when a vampire would lose control at the sight of blood and immediately attack their target. Once they got a taste for blood, it was hard for them to revert back to their original state.

That was probably the case with the feral standing in front of her. She knew all too well how hard it was to hold back the urge to attack at the first sight of blood, however, she trained herself. She would not be the monster everyone thought she was.

The figure suddenly lurched forward swiping at her with his enlarged nails, grazing her cheek as she dodged to the right. She could feel the slight stinging pain and the warmth that spread across the side of her face, but it didn't last long. The gash quickly began to mend itself as she prepared for the next attack.

Yukari subconsciously reaches for the dagger she usually has strapped to her thigh only to realize it wasn't there. Of all days she had to leave it back at her apartment.

She jumped back as the feral lurched forward once again, dodging its attacks. If only I could find a broken tree limb or something to defend with. She began surveying the ground, looking for a makeshift weapon.

Continuing to dodge the attacks, she wasn't paying attention to where she stepped and slipped falling to the ground.

She looked to see what had caused her to fall only to find a branch semi-covered in the snow. Yukari was pulled back from her thoughts by the growls of the feral.

The feral let out a howl as it once again leaped towards Yukari as she laid on the ground. She quickly reached down and grabbed the branch, holding it up.

The feral didn't have time to stop its charge before it landed on the branch. Its gurgling growls and body seized. Yukari could feel the monster's blood starting to drench her top, and quickly pushed the monster off.

Just great, she thought looking over her clothes. There's no way I'm going to make it back without raising suspicion. How is she going to explain the blood stain and ripped clothes to passersby, and it would be her luck if she ran into a police officer. Sighing, she pulled out her phone and dialed Timothy.

"Yes pumpkin?" he answered on the first ring. "Is everything okay?"

"No, I was attacked on my way back. I need someone to come get the body and bring me a change of clothes." She replied.

"Alright, I'll be there soon." He said hanging up. Yukari slid her phone back into her pocket and looked at the dead creature. She walked towards it and crouched, digging through its pockets looking for any source of identification.

"James...age 32...a lot older than appearance..." She began mumbling to herself as she looked through the creatures wallet. Flipping through it one last time for anything she missed, a photograph fell from the wallet. Reaching down, she picked up the picture and looked at it.

In the picture, the man was standing beside a woman, who was most likely his wife and he was holding a little girl. The woman looked a little younger than the man, about 28 and she had short blond hair. She had gentle features and looked at her family lovingly. The little girl had long golden ringlets cascading down her back with a huge grin on her face as if she had no care in the world.

What a pity, Yukari thought, sliding the picture back into the wallet. What could make a man with a family turn into this monster, she pondered. Could something have happened to his family?

Standing up, she paced back and forth waiting for the arrival of Timothy. Stopping, she glanced up at the sun and let the warm rays of the sun wash over her. Hearing the approaching sound of footsteps, she lowered her head and looked towards the direction they were coming from. She smelled them first. She could make out Timothy's smell, but the other was unknown to her.

The two figures finally made their appearance and took in Yukari's appearance. They then looked at the creature lying on the ground by her feet. Sighing, Timothy walked forward and handed Yukari, a brown paper bag with clothes.

Forcing a smile of thanks, she took the bag and began walking towards the woods for coverage, glimpsing at Michael.

Michael felt a chill run down his spine, and no it was not from the cold. It was from the look this girl named Yukari gave him. Why did she look so irritated and angry?

He glimpsed at Timothy for an explanation only to be answered with a "Don't worry about it." How can he not worry about it? The way she was looking at him was almost like she wished he was dead. What did I do? Did I already screw up on the first day of the job?

"As I said, don't worry about it. It's not your fault, it's mine," Timothy said taking in Michaels nervous expression. "You know what to do right?"

"Of course!" Michael quickly shrugged off the duffel bag he had been carrying and unzipped it. He nervously reached in and pulled out a plastic body bag. Laying the body bag down, he then looked at the corpse. I can't do anything until I get the branch out... Wait a minute, why is there a branch?! Did she seriously kill this thing with a branch? Where're her weapons? He looked back at Timothy only to see Timothy shrug and turn away.

Sighing, he grabbed the branch lodged in the corpse and pulled until it slid out. Tossing the branch aside, Michael reached down and started rolling the corpse into the body bag. After finally getting the corpse completely in the bagging and zipping it up, he could see Yukari's figure coming back towards them.

She had changed into the clothes Timothy brought her. Marching up to Timothy, she shoved the brown bag into his stomach and began walking up the stone path. She never once paid any attention to Michael after coming back. She was just so angry and annoyed at Timothy. How could he bring someone else here? This was supposed to be a place only her and Timothy knew about.

She finally reached the top of the steps and climbed into the passenger seat of the black SUV waiting for them. Digging in her pocket, she pulled out a pair of headphones and plugged them into her phone. She inserted both earpieces and began listening to her music. After a few minutes of listening to the music, she had drifted off. The encounter with the feral was exhausting.

"..." Michael looked at Timothy, staring daggers into his back. "Can you at least tell me a little bit about why she seems so....so irritated?"

"mmm...Well for starters, Yukari doesn't do too well with new people. Secondly, only her and I are supposed to know about this place," he said waving around his arms, "and thirdly, this place is where her mother is buried and today was the anniversary of her mother's death. Do of course she's a little agitated. HOWEVER! This can all be solved with food!" Timothy said smirking. He will get back on good terms with his little princess with food. The way to her heart was through food. The way to any girls heart for this matter was food, he thought evilly, chuckling to himself.

Michael looked at him warily. What was wrong with these two people? First one gives him a death stare and the second one, his supervisor is chuckling like a maniac. I know Timothy Graves was a little weird in the head... but that's an understatement. He is not a little weird, he is weirdly weird, he thought as he watched Timothy start basically skipping up the steps and calling for his 'princess'. What have I gotten myself into?

Timothy and Yukari were already in the SUV before he got there. It was difficult carrying an almost 200 lb body. Trudging to the back of the SUV, Michael opened the trunk and laid the body down. Some help would be appreciated, he yelled in his head.

Walking to the passenger side, he opened the door to the back and slid in. Letting out a deep breath, he rested his head on the back seat and looked towards the rearview mirror.

Timothy turned the ignition and put the vehicle in drive. Looking over at Yukari he sighed then looked back at Michael. "Whatever you do, don't make any loud noises..." he whispered. "Yukari gets really pissy when she has been awoken abruptly."

Michael nodded in understanding. Looking out the window, he once again asked himself. What have I gotten myself into?

After driving for a good hour and a half, the three of them reached the organization. Noticing that Yukari was still asleep, Michael reached out to wake her only to have Timothy grab his arm. He looked at Timothy to see him looking at Michael wide-eyed and shaking his head. "Leave her be" Timothy whispered.

Both Timothy and Michael got out of the vehicle. While Michael headed to the back, Timothy went to greet the guards.

Lifting the body out of the vehicle, Michael began heading towards the guard and Timothy. The guard noticing Michaels approach looked at the body bag and with sudden realization quickly turned and headed towards the building telling them to follow him.

Michael followed behind Timothy and the guard catching bits and pieces of their conversation. He was to busy admiring the architecture of the building to notice what they were talking about.

After walking for 10 minutes, they arrived at a room labeled Autopsy. The guard ushered Timothy and Michael into the room and had Michael place the body on one of the metal tables. "Debra will be right with you," the guard said leaving the room.

"So we are supposed to wait here?" Michael asked looking at the room and all the cabinet doors filled with possible bodies. This place gave him the creeps.

"Yup, we wait," Timothy said grabbing the rolling chair and sitting in it laying his head back and closing his eyes.

"Hmm...what do they do in here? The autopsy room? I know they inspect the bodies and stuff...but what else?" Michael asked looking at Timothy curiously.

"How am I supposed to know?" He replied. "If you have any questions, I'm sure Debra will answer them. Just wait and don't touch anything."

Michael grabbed an extra chair and sat down. Guess we'll wait then...
