27 C27. Goodbye.

KRIIIII

We were met with a sharp ear-piercing screech as soon as we reached the top, the 5-metre-long snake like beast staring straight at us.

"Dodge!! Careful, It's eyes." Sara screamed out as she ducked down, and we all followed.

"Get in position!" She nodded at us all with unknown confidence, "Palmer and Elliot. Cast a binding spell first, then spam your attack spells. We need to restrict its movement. Everyone else. Surround and attack. Simple?" She looked each of us in the eye as her previous playful and childlike demeanour completely disappeared.

"Yep," We all took note of the serious atmosphere and replied, nodding as we hurried to surround the beast.

"GO!" She shouted the moment we were all ready, all 3 mages holding their staffs at arms length and casting their spells, a golden chain erupting from the ground and binding the waist whilst a few seconds later 2 more chains appeared simultaneously each wrapping itself around a different section of the basilisk,

KRRRRRIIIIII

It screamed out in frustration as I and the other two swordsmen of the ground charged forward without hesitation.

I gripped the hilt of the blade tightly as I spun myself towards the beast's head, closing my eyes and aimed for its own eyes; it's one known weak spot.

With a single thrust, I felt my sword coming into contact, tightening my grip even more, I felt my feet landing, and with something to support my weight, I slashed down.

KRIIIIIIII

It began swinging its head in attempt to loosen my grip on it,

"Hush," I gritted my teeth as I once again put my strength into my arms and this time slashed to the left, hoping to get the other eye as well.

"Good job, Lenso! We've almost got it!" Sara's voice entered my ears as I felt my sword coming to a stop, the skin too thick for me to cut.

I slowly opened my eyes to assess the situation, my sword perfectly slashing straight into the eyeball of the basilisk, the blood slowly oozing out.

[Bloodline: +5 Snake]

[Strength: +2]

"It's just a giant snake, isn't it." I muttered with slight disappointment, my expectations of receiving a basilisk bloodline disappearing into thin air.

"You guys done there?" I turned to face the other group members as I slowly sheathed back my sword after flicking off all the blood first.

"We're done here!" Palmer's voice replied as he looked over at his card, the digit showing a '50' in flashing green, "We're done!" He smiled, waving it in the air cheerfully, "Back to base then?"

"Let's go-" Sara's voice replied before she glanced over to my direction and with a few seconds, her previous relaxed expression turned into almost that of desperation as she pointed behind me, "Watch out!!" She screamed as I quickly turned around in confusion.

A black figure rushed straight towards me, in their hand a dagger. Within a split second, they appeared right in front of me.

"Freeze." A soft familiar voice rang out beside me as I felt my body stiffed, a black smoke slowly rising from within me as the person, took out a black crystal and held it tightly in their hand, "Goodbye." I heard them say as they quickly gathered mana onto their hand and slammed it straight into my chest. My paralysed body completely unable to dodge nor defend.

I felt myself being sent flying backwards, the mountain cliff zooming straight towards me as the dirt left my feet, and I plummeted down.

"Lensooo!!!" I heard the desperate scream of Palmer as his figure could be seen rushing to the cliffside, his eyes widened in shock before turning to the figure, but to find them already gone, like a ghost.

I grit my teeth as I tried to move with all my strength, but the thick black smoke binding me refused to budge, my mana not working. The only thing I could move was my eyes. The top of the mountain visibility became smaller as the wind roared in my ears.

"Open Seal." I heard a deep voice suddenly mutter behind me as a bright light shone out from behind me and within the next second, the previous bright sunlight immediately disappeared.

"Close Seal."
