3 Chapter 3

"What the fuck is going on?" I shouted.

"Follow me and you will see," he indicated for me to enter.

"What if I refuse?" I asked.

"Phillip Decarter, you will have the treatment Dr Michael had," he said coldly and grabbed his gun.

"Guess I'm a hostage now," I said with a sigh.

"We'll see," he motioned for me to go first.

I walked through the door which led down a flight of stairs it was very dark and stumbled a few times due to my shakiness, Derek often stopped my fall though. He's so odd, first he threatens me then stops me from injuring myself. Movies and games have not prepped me for what is going on. The stair case went down far until it opened to a room with a ship inside.

"So, my school now has a police ship beneath it, of course," I stated sarcastically.

"Get in the ship," Derek said.

2 guards were present with energy guns, they emitted a cold blue light while being gripped tensely by the guards. I don't want to test them, so I raised my hands to my head and walked calmly to the ship. With their offhand they saluted Derek. The door opened, and a ramp allowed me to be whisked off into the vessel and decide my fate.

"Go into that room and sit down," he ordered me while carrying Sylvia into a different room.

I sat in the dark room and waited 5 minutes, this time allowed me to think how fucked I am. Mid thought Derek entered, and the lights switched on. I was sitting near a bunch of counters which Derek grabbed a jug of water and filled two glasses.

"Any flavourings?" he asked me.

I shook my head. He handed me the glass and we both took a drink.

"Now Phillip what do you think is going on?"

"I've been kidnapped by you along with Sylvia," I stated

"Well, allow me to express that this is not a kidnapping," He explained "Sylvia is the daughter of two VIP, you understand we live on a space station and that the main government does not lime us. They Mr Michael as an assassin meant to kill her or capture her understand?"

I gulped. We'll my life got more complicated than maths.

"And what does this have to do with me?" I asked.

"Well Phillip originally in a happy world you would have been a simple kid working at school, maybe you might have become friends with Sylvia or stayed as acquaintances or maybe something else entirely. However, this isn't a lucky day for any of us, you are now a target as well."

"Wait why!" I exclaimed while going pale.

"Mr Michael listed you as a target for being with Sylvia," he elaborated "I monitor the communication within this school however I can't stop the message or else they will know secret police have been placed into this school. This meant that an encrypted message went through to seven other people, 7 other assassins."

"You've gotta be shitting me," I gasped.

"You have 2 options, be an easy target for these assassins who will easily capture you and torture you to get information out of you or a difficult target, pick your choice."

"Why don't you have someone tailing me to protect me?" I demanded.

"We will however, your success of living even with the police following you is 10%," Derek concluded.

I was taken a back, I'm unlikely to survive if I'm taken?

"What does the second option include?" I pleaded.

"The second option will mean your given tools and training to protect yourself and more importantly Sylvia."

"Sylvia as well?"

"Yes, we will only give you this training if you vow to protect Sylvia as well, the moment you abandon her is when your guardian abandons you. In addition, the guardian will deactivate any tools we give to you," Derek taunted.

This was a lot to take in, I'm barely into secondary School and now I need to protect my life but also the life of a person I've just met. Derek began speaking which broke my trail of thought.

"Oh, and you might actually have a friend, I've monitored the cameras and what you call friends, "he exaggerated an exhale "I wouldn't call them that. Well unless you enjoy having things thrown at you?"

"Hey that's them teaching me how to catch stuff," I interjected weakly.

"Sure, you say that however we both know the truth," he smiled like a piece of shit.

That hit close to home, its true I thought they were my friends and that they were just playing jokes with me. I still remember one of their 'jokes' they did. They threw my mandatory school tie into a bin then when I reached in to grab it, they pushed me in.

"Am I weak? They said I was weak and was toughening me up," I whispered.

"Everyone starts weak and requires others to make them strong, you just need the people to make you strong."

The right people, they may be keeping me as a pseudo-hostage however they can teach me and treat me better than those 'friends' did; even if they are doing it for Sylvia's sake.

"Fine Derek, you have got me in a corner, I'll be the protector of Sylvia for the price of my own protection," I bargained.

"Not protector of Sylvia, her friend. You will hang out with her at school and out of school," he commanded.

"Fine," I said through gritted teeth.

"Alright, I'll message my superiors and you will meet your protector soon. For now, Philip, I suggest you see your friend who's soon to wake up," he mentioned him out the door.

I began to get up when he grabbed my left wrist.

"Make sure to have the waterworks on, it will be more believable," he grinned while his free hand circled his eyes.

I rolled my eyes and pulled my arm free and walked into the room where he left Sylvia.
