11 Chapter 11

I would have traversed by the roofs however I was too angry. Derek truly pisses me off, scolds me for doing a natural child like action then punishes me further for trying to fix his mistake. It would be too good if he was an assassin, give me a legal excuse to smack him in the face. I sighed, no point having this negative energy, especially around Sylvia.

"I need to teach her how the world works, she's so sheltered," I trailed off.

Ideas and a desire to help her become a better person were there, however any method to complete this was none existent.

"I guess I can think of something when I log in," I mumbled and walked I to my house.

My parents were off work today but we're out of town, so to speak. I locked the door and went to my room. I showered due to myself being filthy from the fight, my right leg was covered in dried blood along with my cheek where it was stabbed. Once I finished, I got into my uniform and logged into swords and shields.

I was in the room I previously spawned and left it. In the courtyard was Sylvia.

"Hello there," I greeted her and trotted to her.

"Hi there Philip," she looked down.

"What's wrong?" I asked.

"Claivcus and Bearnen are not here. We can't do anything until they get here," she sighed

"Nonsense Sylvia there's loads of things you can do without them," I explained.

"Like what?" she asked.

"What have you done in this game?" I answered with a question.

"Played with Clavicus and Bearnen."

"And do what?"

"the thing we do everyday," she explained.

I gasped "weren't you the one saying that you've done some much in this game? When we first met?" I interrogated.

"Yeah I've beat Bearnen multiple times," she replied.

"Awe Sylvia," I sighed.

"What's wrong?"

"You haven't seen the capabilities in this game, let's leave this arena so I can show you the stuff we can do!"

"But won't we get in trouble?" she asked.

"Nope, I've made it that the weekend is our free time, I can show you the stuff you can do in the game and we can hang out," I exclaimed.

"Hang out?" she looked confused.

"Hanging out is when a bunch of friends hangout together," I explained.

"Like with Clavicus?"

"No that's training."

"What's the difference?"

"its like schoolwork which is boring. Hanging out can include playing games or telling jokes or just talking."

"Games like wrestling and fighting" she yelped.

"Yes or levelling up in this game or other games."

"Can we wrestle!" she exclaimed.

"sure..." suddenly Sylvia charged.

I rolled out of the way "Sylvia stop!"

"Why?"

"There needs to be some rules because you keep going too far," I explained.

"When we're playing like this, we need to be less violent. Im a very weak person so you need to hit softer. However, do what you usually do when we're training."

"So, training is when Clavicus and Bearnen are there?"

"Yes, the rest of the time it's goofing off time," I concluded "shall we head to the city."

"The city?" she looks confused.

"You've never been? It's the big city where loads of people hang out. Loads of fun things to do there."

She followed me outside the arena where I whistle, and a roar occurred. A large creature ran towards us, it was like a horse however fur was replaced with scales and sharp claws were in place of hooves.

"what is this?" she was in awe.

"Its my demi-dragon, come on get on your mount so we can get to city," the demo dragon paced around.

"I can't?" She confessed.

"Why is that?"

"I don't have a mount."

"Show me you map, please?" I asked.

Opening a menu, she revealed a map. The map slowly becomes more detailed the more you travel around the place however, her map was the most blank he's ever seen, the map only has the arena available. I put two and two together to realise she was teleported here by someone with admin powers. I assumed Derek.

"Arrr fucking Derek," I said under my breath.

"Ok we need to get you a mount, I know a place where we can get a mount however it's going to be a tough fight," I exclaimed while trying to hide my annoyance and anger at Derek.

You can share mounts in swords and shields however the speed is reduced considerably, it would take us hours to reach the city with only one.

"Here take my hand and climb 9nto my mount," I held my hand out.

I pulled her up and we were off.

We slowly travelled to a location called the Consuming Jungle. This location was home to a giant worm which is challenging to beat. However, the worm's death rewards someone with a mount.

The jungle was filled with trees whose branches were covered in claws and Maws, they can move on a whim and eat unwary animals and adventurers. The never a more fitting name for a place. We dodged the trees and made it to a cave entrance.

"Here's the entrance," I whispered.

"Man, it's dark down here," she exclaimed.

"Quiet, the worm is very sensitive to hearing, similar to you," I shushed her.

She nodded, and I began to run an oil onto my sword. I downgraded my weaponry to lighter weapons, they were easier to handle but I wholeheartedly miss my golden blades. My armour as well has become lighter. I wear reinforced leather and chainmail to protect myself and allow myself to freely move. The oil I rubbed onto the blade was extremely flammable, shown by me when I pulled out a flint and steel, my sword glowed blue with fire and illuminated the cave.

I gave the oil to Sylvia "you might need this. In case we get separated."

"You forget my eyes," she indicated to her face and handed me the oil back

"Oh sorry, use this oil instead, the worm doesn't like it one bit," I handed her a green oil.

She began to run the oil onto her trident, then onto her tail weapon on my suggestion. I nodded when she was finished and led the way into the cave.

Text floated in front of us 'The Cave of Whispers' it read. The where was a complete lack of vegetation and rocked littered the cave. It was a downhill walk, this is the main route the worm leaves and has been bored down by its travels, this has led to a staircase like shape. The tube opened to a large open area, there crystals that illuminated the area and revealed the floor was sand. The worms head was sticking out of the ground. It was shaped like a worm however had the head of a tiger, it lacked eyes and featured empty sockets in their place. Sylvia instinctively charged at it while face palmed at the action she did. The worm burrowed out the sand revealing more of its body, along with this it opened its mouth and a jet of fire appeared. Sylvia stabbed the worm and its body erupted in many heads all around its body, the place she stabbed revealed an eyeless boat which reacted with spitting fire at her. She flung herself up by using her trident to increase the height. However, a dog head began to snap at her. She swung her tail down at it, her tail blade leaving a deep gouge down to its snout. She also punched it for good measure. While this occurred, Philip began to do a high-powered combo. He first rapidly buffed himself. Then he did a well-known skill of his class. Instead of following through with an ability he cancels it and instead throws the spirit creature at the worm. Instead of doing a board charge he changes it to a boar's plunge. He does this for each of his abilities which gives him an ability called Final Stampede. He charges with each creature he threw to deal a chunk of damage. The charge hit into the side of the worm and sent it flying into the wall. The attack is very taxing though, so Philip is left winded. It doesn't help that worm charges at him with full force, half of it may have been gouged heavily by the attack it still charged forth. The main head spew fire at him which he blocked with his shield however the charge sent him flying. The worm launched itself at his flying body, ready to swallow him whole. Sylvia interrupted the worm by intercepting it by smashing into its main head. Philip tables to the ground and panted for a while. He watched Sylvia give it a smack down along with dodging the worm with ease. A gladiator lacks any abilities, instead they have passives instead which buff their attacks and speed. They feel the most natural class however their strength can appear odd. No one, not even Sylvia could fight it with ease but that was possible due to the passives of a gladiator.

"Ah shit that stings," I winced, the charge is going to leave a mark.

I began Boar Charging back into the fray when I saw Sylvia wrestling with a snake head. Suddenly the worms body folded which allowed a bear head to bite and swallow her.

"Oh shit," I yelled and smashed into a goat's head.

I plunged my sword up into its jaw and pushed the head up. A Frogs Leap ripped it off the rest of the body. It recoiled from the pain and chorus of hisses, roars and whoops filled the arena. The convulsed then slammed into me, however I buffed my block to hold my own against the leviathan. A snake head bit around d my shield, the fangs nearly contacting my body I repeated the Board Charge and shattered the bones of the snake head. I pulled out my shield and cleanly cut the head from the body. The worm began to circle around me then its main head was above me. Fire burst from the heads surrounding except for one it was a bear head which didn't exhale any fire, not even a spark.

I sprinted towards it and ripped the head off its body. Its innards were shredded by Sylvia who I pulled out of. I then threw a bottle of poison into the mouth and another and another until the bullet was filled. I finished this with throwing an explosive in and shielding us.

The poison was blown deeper into the worm. It began freeze in place, the heads at first roaring and reeling in pain until they froze entirely.

When the entirety of it was frozen it crumbled, revealing a slime covered chest.

"You ok?" I asked Sylvia.

She was slumped on the ground and covered in slime.

"This is gross," she groaned.

"Was the fight fun though?" I asked another question.

"It was, until it ate me," she huffed.

"We'll maybe the loot will make you smile," indicated to the chest.

She shrugged and opened it. Loot began spewing from it, most of it was stuff we could sell however a green crystal flew out and floated in front of Sylvia.

"Touch the crystal," I suggested.

She did, and the crystal glowed until it formed into a hippogryph.

It screeched and reared however bowed to Sylvia.

"woah," her mouth was in the shape of an O.

"this is your new mount Sylvia, a Crystal-Captured Hippogryph if my memory is correct, once outside, a whistle can summon it and allow you to travel faster than you could walk or run," I explained.

"so cool," she said as it disappeared "where did it go?"

"it despawned, it will respawn when you want to summon it," I answered "shall we head out of this jungle? I know where you can wash that gunk off you."

"yes please, this stuff is really awful," she finished, and we trekked out of the cave.

At the entrance we both whistled our mounts. The mount controls are simple, but it can be a bit difficult to stay on the mount, Sylvia found this out when she suddenly flew off the hippogryph at random points in the ride out of the jungle. I told her I can properly train her once we were out of the jungle, so she grudgingly kept falling off till we were out of the locale. I went about teaching her the instructions on how to ride her mount, how to distribute her weight, how to slow the mount down. By 10 minutes she was very amateurish with controlling it, however she wasn't falling off anymore. Good thing too, she was getting more uncomfortable due to the slime and innards from the worm. I led her to a large pond where she cleaned herself and her armour, while she did this, I was fishing.

"what are you doing all the way over there?" she asked when she was done.

"oh, I'm fishing, I want to learn how to do it," I explained.

"why were you doing it in this corner?"

"for privacy reasons, it would be rude to you if I was near you when you were bathing. Also, the fish will be disturbed by your movements in the pond," I said.

"I'm confused, is there a rule to walking around naked?"

I laughed heavily at this "yes it called public indecency, that is why you wear clothes outside your house, it's also to protect you from people who might be bad."

"whatever, can we head to the city now?"

"yeah sure let…" suddenly the line was taught on my line "oh I got a bite!"

I began wrangling the fish, trying to tire it out before I reel it in. my movements got Sylvia excited who was shadowing my movements. After a few minutes of effort, I finally reeled in my catch. A tiny common minnow.

"either I'm weak or that minnow is a monster," I laughed.

"what are these things stuck to your chest? spaghetti arms?" she poked my arms.

We both began laughing, I threw the fish back into the water then began to wobble my arms around and we began to laugh even more.

"shall we head off now?" I wheezed after catching my breath.

"heck yes!"
