14 Awkward Timing

Adam spent the rest of the day cutting up the Hydra meat and cooking it with his gate.

Instead of eating it with just Mikasa and Asia, Adam decided to share it with the other people at the school. It would take too much time for him to eat the entire Hydra so sharing git works better.

The next day Adam walked to school with both girls, once he got to school he went to his classroom and waited for class to start. He spent the entire school day not really paying attention but instead he thought of what type of weapon he should forge with his immortal slaying materials.

He was so focused that he didn't notice class had already ended. He only realized it when someone poked his cheek. m

"Hmm?" Adam turned to his left only to see an empty classroom and Mikasa in front of him.

"What are you still doing here? Aren't you supposed to be at the ORC?" Mikasa asked.

"Oh yeah, I guess I was too concentrated," Adam said. He then picked up Mikasa "Let's get going, we'll get there faster like this," he said and took off towards the ORC building.

At the ORC building, Grayfia had just been talking to everyone when suddenly a man with a red suit teleported in there.

"The human world really doesn't suit me, but it was the only way to come and get you, my beloved Rias," he said as he faced Rias.

"Who is this guy?" Issei asked.

"He is Lord Riser Phenex the third son of the upper-class Phenex clan". Grayfia introduced him " He is Lady Rias' betrothed," she said

"Betrothed?!" Issei questioned. How come no one had told him.

"Yes, I am to marry Rias as our clans have decided," Riser said. confirming everyone's confusion.

Issei was so shocked he couldn't function properly.

Riser then took a seat on the couch with Rias and began to play with her hair.

Everyone was just staring at them not knowing what to say. That's when they were all hit with wind on the face.

"Who's ready for some Hydra meat!" Adam exclaimed as he set Mikasa down.

Before speaking again he dodged a magic bullet aimed towards him.

"I see someone doesn't want any," Adam said, looking towards Grayfia.

"This matter doesn't concern a human," she said.

"What matters?" Adam asked confused. He then looked around and saw what was going on, "Ah I see now! Don't worry about me, you can take your time, I'll be over here setting things up," he said. He then proceeded to take out a giant table with enough chairs for everyone. He then placed all the plates filled with hydra meat and the silverware in one go.

Sitting at the front of the table Adam started to eat the Hydra meet.

"WOW! This is delicious, I really outdid myself with this" Adam shamelessly praised himself. "Don't look at me, you guys can continue whatever you were doing" Adam said as he continued to eat the meat.

"R-right, 'ahem'" Rias' faked coughed "As I said, I will not be marrying you," she said.

"This isn't up for debate Rias, I will drag you back to the Underworld even if it means I have to kill all your servants and friends," Riser said and began to unleash his flames so that they'd surround him.

"That's enough," Grayfia said as she walked up to them.

"What the lady said, you're messing up the meat's temperature," Adam complained.

Riser, who had enough of a human interrupting him, summoned his peerage.

Once they were all there he said "Mira.. kill this pathetic human for me". He'd never go as low as to have to filthy his hands with human blood.

A short blue-haired girl walked out of the group carrying a staff. She then jumped in Adam's directions and aimed towards his head with her staff.

Adam, who had read her movements from the start, simply raised his hand that was holding his knife and parried her attack.

"Quite the power for such a small girl, but seriously I'm eating, can you not attack me," Adam said, clearly annoyed by being attacked while he was enjoying his food.

"You're quite strong for a human, but you chose the wrong person to show yourself too," said Riser. He was about to shoot his flames towards Adam but was stopped by Grayfia.

"Like I was saying before, My Lord instructed me to give you a way that you can both agree to if you didn't agree" she stated. "You are to have a Rating Game with Rias' hand in marriage as the prize. If she is to lose then she has no choice but to marry you. In the case where she wins then she has the right to choose her own partner".

"A Rating Game? I'd be fine with that, but is that your entire peerage there?" Riser asked. He was staring at Akeno, Kiba, Issei, and Koneko"

"Yes, that would be my entire peerage. Is there anything wrong with it?" Rias questioned.

"It doesn't matter to me but I'd rather not have people think that I only one because you had fewer people. How about you add those three humans to your group" Riser said. He now has an excuse to use to kill the human that was annoying him. "Will that be fine with you, Ultimate Queen," he asked Grayfia.

"I'll have to ask My Lord but I see no reason why he would decline". Grayfia didn't believe that a human with a little skill would be enough to help Rias but I'd be better than nothing. If only they had been able to find the person that has been releasing huge amounts of mana recently, then she'd believe Rias could win.

"I have no problem with that either, I just need someone to teleport me to the Underworld," Adam said. He was not planning on helping Rias' since he knew that Issei would somehow win but he also wasn't sure that his presence hadn't changed things. So in the off chance that things go south, he would help them out.

"You better enjoy the time you have left human" Riser told Adam. He then walked to his peerage and teleported back to his estate.

"I will be leaving as well, have a nice day". Grayfia looked towards Adam with hope as she teleported back to the Gremory estate.

"Thank you for agreeing to this Adam" Rias thanked Adam. Now that he was helping them they had a better chance of winning.

"Well I'm not doing it for free" Adam said while looking towards Rias

'Does he want money? or me....?' Rias thought to herself. She thought that Adam was different than other guys but it seemed that wasn't the case.

Seeing that everyone was looking at him weirdly and that he was being hit with a death stare by Mikasa, Adam thought about what he said again. " Oh don't misunderstand me, I wanted to ask you if you could make Asia a devil," Adam said, clearing up the misunderstanding.

"Oh, thank goodness that's all you wanted. But is Asia fine with that? She won't be able to pray anymore" Rias said.

"That's fine with me. I don't want to be a burden to Adam, and if becoming a devil can make me useful then that's fine" Asia responded filled with courage.

Even if he didn't agree with her reason Adam still wanted her to be a part of Rias' peerage because it was the only way for her to get stronger since she didn't have any talent for anything else besides magic. She'd be able to use demonic power once she gets reincarnated as a devil.

"Alright, now that it's decided, we'll be leaving for training camp the entirety of the 10 days given to us," Rias told everyone.

"Well good luck to you Asia," Mikasa said, walking towards Adam.

"Not so fast" Adam interrupted her. "You'll be going with them, you still need more experience fighting against people that have more power than normal stray devils and exorcists," he told Mikasa.

"I feel like you're just trying to get rid of me.... are you up to something again?" she asked while looking at Adam straight into the eyes.

"Of course not, I just have to spend time forging my new weapon, I also have to go buy glasses with Sona." Adam decided to just tell her the truth.

"JUST buy glasses right?" She asked to make sure.

"That's right, JUST buying glasses nothing more. Now, let's eat the food," Adam said trying to change the subject.

They then spent the rest of the afternoon eating the Hydra. Adam also gave Rias extra so that she could have some for 10 days and so she could give some to Sona for him.

Adam spent the rest of the week making his immortal killing weapon. He had to go to an uninhabited island to use the materials he had since they would kill anything close to them, especially the Hydra's heart.

He decided that he would make a dagger for the weapon. Once it was done, the entirety of the dagger ended up being pitch black, the only exception being Adam's signature at the bottom.

After he was done making his weapon Adam spent the rest of his time training until the day came where he would have his date with Sona.

Waiting for Sona outside of a train station Adam kept having to deal with girls trying to sneak a picture of him.

He then saw Sona walking toward him in a blue shirt and skirt. "You really decided to dress up cutely for something that's not a date," Adam said trying to tease her, which worked.

"It's not a date, and I can't go outside wearing clothes unbefitting the next heir to the Sitri clan" she stated while looking away from Adam.

Adam was sure she was blushing but pretended not to know in order to not get her mad.

"Well there's a lot of shops we're going to so let's get going," Adam said and grabbed her hand, making her turn into a tomato.

"You said only glasses!" she complained.

"Did I? I guess it doesn't matter now, let's go."

"Ugh" Sona was really regretting agreeing but a small part of her was enjoying doing normal things for a change.

They spent the entire morning going to different clothing stores buying all the clothes that Adam had Sona try out.

Sona also had Adam try out clothing she thought would suit him.

Visiting their last clothing store Adam showed Sona a magical girl outfit he found for sale.

Seeing the outfit reminded her of her sister so she had Adam put it away, but seeing that Adam wanted her to wear it she thought that it was just something he liked. She then thought of Mikasa wearing it for Adam and for some weird reason felt a sense of rivalry.

She then picked it up and looked at Adam " Just once okay?" she said sternly with an obvious blush on her face.

Adam tilted his head in confusion 'why did she change her mind?'. He didn't question for that long and instead decided to take advantage of the situation.

Sona then came out of the dressing room wearing the magical girl outfit and a face as red as it could get.

Adam decided she looked too cute so he took out a camera and took a picture.

"Noo! Give me that! Please Adam" she pleaded with tears threatening to come out of her eyes.

"Fine, haaa" Adam sighed. He then handed the camera to Sona.

Looking at the picture she realized how good it was taken. She then began to think that he didn't take it to make fun of her.

Hesitantly she gave it back " I swear if I hear someone mention this I will hunt you down and hurt you," she said while thinking about her overprotective sister.

"Hmm, you sure?" Adam asked, wondering why she keeps changing her mind.

"Well, I trust you won't do anything bad with it... it's also a good photo"

Adam didn't argue anymore and kept the picture he also decided he would make a copy for her.

The rest of the afternoon they spent it playing games at Arcades, where Adam would manipulate luck to have Sona lose all the games where it depended on luck. Then when she was depressed for not winning a blue teddy bear Adam felt kinda bad so he got it for her.

Seeing the smile she had when she received it Adam felt bad for what he did but didn't really feel like saying anything about it since I'd expose, in his opinion, his most broken ability. 'Forgive me for this God.... oh right he's dead. Forgive me, Micheal' Adam prayed in his head.

Somewhere in Heaven, a handsome man with long blond hair got a weird feeling.

Walking back to where they met, Adam and Sona were enjoying the silence.

"Why did you decide to help Rias?" Sona was confused by Adam's actions.

"Ah well even if I don't seem like it I don't like when other people decide what happens to you. It might be for a good cause but I still think your opinion matters. Also, I've wanted to fight Riser ever since I saw him, it's always fun to fight against overconfident people" Adam said.

"And where do YOU get all your confidence from?" Sona questioned him since he was talking like he had already beaten Riser.

"Maybe you'll get to see it one day," Adam said.

Sona had enjoyed her time with Adam, this was something she had never done and did know it could be this fun. She wanted to be with Adam and have fun all the time but she couldn't afford to waste so much time. She needed to make her wish of making a school for all devils in the underworld.

"Hey, Adam do you have a dream?" Sona asked.

"A dream? I don't think I have one." Adam said. "And what's your dream, Sona?"

"My dream is to open a Rating Game school for all, no matter what their status is," she said in a somber tone.

"That's a good dream you have there, I'm sure you'll be able to accomplish it, and if you are ever in need of assistance feel free to call me," Adam said.

"That's good to know. Now that I think about it we didn't buy any glasses." Sona said. She was having too much fun and forgot the reason they even came out here in the first place.

"I knew something like this would happen so I made these for you," Adam said, and handed over a small rectangular box " They're not just normal glasses they'll decrease your magic consumption by half," he added.

'Half?!!' Sona thought to herself. If anyone found out Adam could make this type of thing he would be hunted down.

"You can't give these to me, they're worth too much," she said while trying to decline the glasses.

"I think these glasses would fit you quite well. They're yours now, I'm not taking them back" he said. Adam then took out the glasses from the box and put them on Sona. "There, beautiful," he said.

At that point, there was steam coming from Sona's head. It didn't take long for her brain to begin to function. She wanted to find a way to pay him back and could only think of one way. She got close to his face and kissed him on the cheek.

"You better not tell anyone," she said as she teleported out of there to hide her embarrassment. Once she reached her house she began to think of how bold she was. 'I was supposed to make him take interest in joining me' she thought about the original goal she had set for herself.

Back in the street, Adam was still in shock from what just happened 'She's surprisingly very straightforward' Adam thought to himself.

He then proceeded to walk home and think about how he was going to explain things to Mikasa.
