Ch.014

I went to find bellator, and he was in his tower he had evolved with me and he was strange looking he had glowing blue lines across his whole body and his ribcage looked like it was made of steel bars he said his evolution was called the steel warrior skeleton he said he was going out to hunt alone to test his new abilities and I wasn't going to stop him he was smart enough to know what was a bad idea and what wasn't as I walked around the town I thought about various things

The summon hiver spell was strange it didn't take that much mana at once but it felt like it was draining me for a few hours after that a bit of mana here a bit more there and it made me feel sick like I was on the verge of throwing up I would use it again but I didn't feel like using it again so soon beep is entertaining and the kids like him but he can't play tag as they found out the hard way he can't balance that well he was running from a boy named max and he got tagged the very light tap caused him to completely topple over and fall on his face it freaked the kids out but according to beep it happened to hivers all the time so the kids calmed down after that he told me he wanted to learn how to fight but he just looked so fragile and so we put him to work on the fields that the humans planted I told him it was to train his strength which wasn't a complete lie and he sprung to work like a bat out of hell

This whole time I had been playing the role of commander and I was tired if a skeleton could be tired but that didn't matter the human leader bran told me to take a break or a vacation and that sounded like just what i need but how am i supposed to do that i could go to a human city but they would probably kill me dead on the spot or I could go sun bathing but I don't want to wake up to a bonedog chewing on my ribcage and this whole time my head has felt like it was in a million places at once i want to the saloon to clear my head and have a stiff drink the humans knew how to brew a drink from one of the crops they grow called sake it tasted alright but it had quite the kick to it after one or maybe four glasses of the stuff my head started to clear the stress must be getting to me

The plan I had come up with was to walk to the nearest human city and approach the gate then I would ask to be let inside beep would come with me as backup and as a negotiator as hivers were known to be a peaceful people in this world so hopefully they wouldn't attack me on sight but who knows the preparations for the trip were simple enough food and a jug of water so beeps eyes wouldn't dry out in the small desert expanse we needed to go through and we were off

After a while of running through the tunnels, we got to the forest expanse where the city was, although it was more of a town than a full city but still it was bone rattling to approach the gate of the wall where a guard jumped down from the nearly twelve foot high wall and spoke to us

"HIVER WHAT BUSINESS DO YOU AND THE SKELETON HAVE IN SQUALL"

"Beep and the queen are here to... DELAX"

"Beep, don't you mean relax," I butt in

"Ah yes, we are here to relax!"

"Very well, but I'm watching you skeleton, so don't pull nothing funny"

With that rude statement, we walk through the gate and into the town. It has a few stores, a tavern, some houses and what's called an adventurer's guild. The first place we went was a store that sold musical instruments. I tried to buy a guitar, but they wanted two gold coins and they didn't accept the trade goods i brought with me given they were monster parts but still. The woman behind the counter said that to exchange my parts for money i need to go to the adventurer's guild.

Beep and I arrived at the guild after a few minutes of walking and when we walked through the door, all eyes shifted to be looking in our direction, and beep wasn't helping as he started waving at everyone he saw I just grabbed him by the back of his vest and pulled him to the counter where the man behind it gave us a strange look

"Ello, what can i do for you fine gentlemen"

"I need to exchange monster parts for coins"

"Well, do ya have an adventurer card"

"no"

"Well then, we need to get the both of you registered"

After that he asked so many questions like my name, my age, my class? The main question i got hung up on was my place of residence I just told him it was a town of monsters in the plains and he looked pale for a moment and then regained his color the man excused himself and walked to a back room then walked back out with a muscular woman beside him she talked to me and beep for a while she then went into a different back room and came out with two copper cards our names engraved on them I exchanged our parts for coin and left.

We walked back to the music store, and I bought my guitar and beep got a pan flute. Not sure why, but he bought one. After that we walked to the tavern and had some drinks, the standard beer, grog, whisky, and they even had absinthe. Beep is a funny drunk. He walked over to this brawny adventurer woman who was drinking and started flirting with her. She punched him square in the jaw. Beep hit the wall, the floor, and the ceiling in three seconds. Out cold, I had to drag him out the door and to the inn to the room we rented.
