Because of his superior strength and the gift from Rizevim, Arturo Plateado didn't need to use his Zanpakuto while fighting earlier however Takashi who has huge Spiritual energy was easily overwhelming him so he had no choice but to use his Zanpakuto to defend against Takashi.
