Five years have passed since the Thousand Year Blood War, Soul Society has now fully recovered …for the most part, that is.

For one, a lot of Gotei 13 Captains and Lieutenants perished in the war, along with the Captain Commander, Genryusai Shigekuni Yamamoto.

So a lot of people who made great contributions in the war were promoted.

Even Arrancars, who contributed a lot, were rewarded and have joined the Gotei 13.

Though most captains remained in their positions, there are also some who perished in the war and their position succeeded by others.

The 13th Division, due to the death of the previous captain, Jushiro Ukitake, is succeeded by Rukia Kuchiki.

The 9th Division, due to the death of the previous captain, Kensei Muguruma, is succeeded by one of the Visored and former Lieutenant of 8th Division, Lisa Yadomaru.

The Seventh Division, due to the death of the previous captain, Sajin Kumamura, is succeeded by an Arrancar, the ex-Sexta Espada, Grimmjow Jaegerjaquez.

The Fourth Division, due to the death of the previous captain, Unohana Yachiru, is succeeded by another Arrancar, an ex-Trecera preceding Harribel, Nelliel Tu Odelschwanck.

The Third Division, due to the death of the previous captain, Rojuro Otoribashi, is succeeded by an Arrancar, the ex-Trecera Espada, Tier Harribel.

Mayuri Kurotsuchi remained as the Captain of the 12th Division.

Kenpachi Zaraki remained as the Captain of 11th Division.

Toshiro Hitsugaya remained as the Captain of 10th Division.

Shunsui Kyoraku remained as the Captain of 8th Division.

Byakuya Kuchiki remained as the Captain of 6th Division.

Shinji Hirako remained as the Captain of 5th Division.

Soi Fon remained as the Captain of 2nd Division.

As for the 1st Division, due to the death of Captain Yamamoto, someone else succeeded his position, and much to the surprise of the person in question, he was succeeded by none other than Ichigo Kurosaki, the Hero of the Winter War and the Thousand Year Blood War.

One of the only two Transcendent Beings in the universe whose power allows him to contend with the likes of Soul King Yhwach and Sosuke Aizen.

And with Yhwach "dead" and Aizen sealed, there is no denying that Ichigo is currently the strongest being in the universe.

Due to his power, just his mere presence would greatly affect the balance of the Human World and he was strictly forbidden from returning, which Ichigo himself accepted.

He did not make a fuss considering his friends and family can still visit him thanks to the Soul Passes that allows living people to visit Soul Society.

Not only that, after the revelations of Ichigo's relation with the Shiba Clan, one of the Five Great Noble Clans but lost their position after suffering a decline, he himself took over as the patriarch and brought it back to its former glory.

And with this revelation comes the pressure from the Central 46—an organization that serves as the judiciary authority of the Soul Society—urging him to produce an heir.

Thankfully, there were some women eager on helping him out, but that's a story for another time.

On another note, you might ask, with the death of Soul King and Yhwach, shouldn't the universe already collapsed and all realms become 'one'?

Normally, that would be the case, but after Yhwach's death, the Central 46 ordered to cut Yhwach body into several pieces, mainly removing his arms and legs and placing the main body in the King Seal, making him the new lynchpin that maintains the balance of the world.

Ichigo actually wanted to protest when they did that, but he also knew that without a new Soul King, the universe they knew would collapse so he remained silent.

Doesn't mean he like it though.

Aside from that, everything's been well. Soul Society is recovering and even developing, with Ichigo doing everything he can to at least better the lives of the Souls living in Rukongai, so that at the very least souls don't have to live their afterlife like a beggar.

There were no more enemies, and everything's peaceful.

With the Arrancars on their side, Hollow attacks becomes less and less and only those unruly ones go to the human world to cause trouble.

Ichigo hope that this peace would last for eternity.

12th Division Baracks.

The 12th Division has been directly linked to the Shinigami Research and Development Institute over 100 years ago by former Captain Kisuke Urahara.

As such technological and scientific research has become the full measure of what the division involves itself in primarily.

Members are tasked with research and collection of data and samples, something both the current and previous captains are very enthusiastic about, though not to the same extreme.

Currently, in Mayuri's workshop.

"This is …" Mayuri Kurotsuchi stared in shock and amazement at the data presented on the screen in front of him, "…hehe, hehehe! Splendid! Splendid! Finally, after three years I uncovered all its secrets! I can't believe it, to think other universes actually existed!"

Five years ago, just after the war, Mayuri collected the remains of the Quincy BG9, an android that serves Yhwach.

From what he uncovered, BG9 joined Yhwach around 900 years ago, something that baffled the scientist considering science and technology was not prevalent around that time.

How could something like BG9 exist?

So with all talent and brains he got, he decided to uncover the secret behind the android and throughly search its memory bank to find out how it was made.

It was far more difficult than he anticipated, everything about BG9 was foreign to him, from the materials to its systems.

Thankfully, Mayuri managed to recover all its memories and discovered its origin.

And no wonder everything was foreign to him, because BG9 was originally from another universe.

It was created by so-called gods to be used as mass-produced weapons of destruction. They were called Gogmagogs. However, they were eventually abandoned by the gods who deactivated all of them and abandoned them in a place called Dimensional Gap.

Eventually, this one, BG9, accidentally fell to their universe and was discovered by a group of Quincies who began to study it, eventually altering it and made it an 'artificial quincy'.

"Hehehe, gods, gods, gods, different universe," Mayuri couldn't stop his fingers from moving in a scratching-motion with a large grin on his face, "I wonder what makes them so different? Aaahh, I want to study them, I want to study them, I want to study them!"

With a crazed look on his face, he called out to his lieutenant, "Nemu! Come here! I have an order for you!"

"…"

"Nemu!?" Mayuri looked around, and just noticed that he was alone in his workshop. He clicked his tongue, "That child, she learned to sneak out while I'm busy has she?"

He took out his phone and called his Third Seat, "Akon, where is Nemu?"

Akon, the Third Seat of 12th Division replied from the phone, "Captain, I think she went to 1st Division Barracks."

"What!?" Mayuri couldn't help but exclaim in annoyance, though he really shouldn't be surprised. After Nemu's 'death' in the Thousand Year Blood War, Mayuri perfectly recreated her once more.

Because of the her 'death', Mayuri realized despite Nemu's evolution in physical and mental aspects, her emotional aspects seems to have been greatly repressed.

So Mayuri decided to let her develop her emotions as well, and ordered Nemu to pursue 'love', one of the most powerful emotion of an individual.

Surprisingly, Nemu chose Ichigo Kurosaki, the Captain Commander of Gotei 13, as the object of her 'love'. And whenever she had time, she would always 1st Division Barracks to meet up with him.

"Oh well," Mayuri sighed, at least Nemu was executing his orders, "Akon, inform the Captain Commander that I have discovered something and I would like him to approve a Captain Meeting."

"At once, Captain." Akon replied before Mayuri hang up the call.

With a grin, Mayuri stared at the data shown on the screen, "Another universe, another universe, gods, gods …I can't wait."
