3 Settled At Poterenye City

Finally, Heiner and Malte's party arrived at Poterenye city. Although Heiner was very excited with blueprints he received from Malte. Trying to forge equipment at night would disturb other's sleep. They got tired from travel for hours and should get rest at night. No one knew if there was any danger ahead. What he can do was staring at blueprints all day. Seeing Heiner was happy with that, no one spoke a word.

The city wall is big and strong, one could see that from a few miles. When they arrived at the city's gate. Several guards were checking visitors' identity. While the citizens of Poterenye city just showed them their badge and walk in without any problem. Heiner was waiting on the carriage while Malte was dealing with guards. He was trying to buy a citizen badge for Heiner.

As a benefactor of Malte, Heiner enjoyed a good treatment. He appreciated that but he did not want to be Malte's burden. After he could become a citizen, he wanted a place to live and open a small blacksmith shop. The location did not matter, he just needed a cheap one. Who cared about doing business while he could sell every piece of his work to the system.

Malte preferred a good location to do business. He was trying to help as Heiner was young and lacked experiences to do business on his own. It would be suspicious if Heiner still chose the cheap place but he solved it easy, 'Do not worry if I cannot sell anything. I will come to see you.' Then Malte smiled and gave up the location issue.

"Alright, this is your badge sir."

Malte gave an identity badge to Heiner. It was engraved 'Heiner' on it. He did not tell how he got this badge and how much he had to pay for it.

Now, It's time to get in.

The carriage slowly approached the city gate. Heiner look ahead with the shining eyes. Malte looked at him and smiled, he satisfied with Heiner's expression. He lost his son for years. If that child was still alive, he would be around Heiner's age.

Rolf snorted when he saw their expression. He did not like it. In his opinion, a businessman must prioritize money. Losing a lot of money and time for a brat who just saved them once was not appropriated. He was dissatisfied but spoke nothing because his brother was the head of the company. In other words, He could not speak that. It's his brother's money.

They had a smooth journey since the last incident. Nothing bad happened. It was strange that Raphael Ritter glanced at Heiner a few times a day without anyone noticed. He was fully armor and spoke less than anyone else but no one mind that.

At this moment, Heiner was inside the city. The scene was beautiful in his eyes. People wearing fine clothes walking around the street which made of bricks, selling and buying something. Various shops could be seen along the road. It was better than in his village. Now he had to live here for a while. Only Malte came along with Heiner to find a place for him. The rest of his party went back to his company.

"How about this place?" Malte asked.

"It seems expensive. I am afraid that I cannot pay a rental cost." Heiner replied with a shying tone.

"Do not worry, I can count it on me for the first year."

"No." Heiner shook his head "I must rely on myself if I want to survive in this world. I appreciated what you are trying to do but I do not want to be a burden. Again, a good location is not necessary for me. I rather choose a cheap place than a good place."

"Oh, that place seems nice" Heiner pointed at an old building far away.

Malte sighed and followed him from behind.

"How much for this place?" Heiner asked an old man inside the building. The old man glanced at him but no word. "Is this place for sale? I see the sign in front of the building."

"Who are you boy? This is not your place to play around." The old man insulted, looking at Heiner from head to toe.

"Name your price. I'll pay" Malte expected this would happen, 'Who would believe this young man is going to buy his building?'

"5,000 gold coins." The old man said motionless.

"What!?" Heiner was shocked. He had never seen that amount of coins in this life, how could not it make him astonished? "Why don't you kill me instead."

The old man ignored Heiner's nonsense.

"3,000" Malte made eyes contact with the old man for a while. Heiner said nothing, did not know how to do. He realized that he was still a child.

"4,500!"

"3,200!"

"4,000!"

"3,500!"

"Alright...I will give you some face this time, Malte."

"Thanks, old man." Malte threw a pouch at him. "Give him a key."

"Hmm.." The old man checked inside the pouch, seeing seven golden stone, he smiled then threw a dirty key to Heiner. "This is a key, brat. Good luck."

"You can return me building cost if you want but you do not have that much with you at the moment, right?" Malte smiled. He knew from the beginning, 'how could a poor young man who ran for life have so much money? He needed to rely on adult like me at the end.'

Heiner nodded and went inside. Seeing everything was okay, Malte left. Now, Heiner was alone. He starts with his workspace by placing a furnace and start to work right away. Then the sound of a hammer rang again and again. Only God knew what would he make.
