4 Road of Blacksmith

The first thing that Heiner, the newborn blacksmith, created was a sign of his shop, 'Berkel Smithy.' He recognized that hammering was better than before. It should be the result of increasing strength by 5 points. He still had 5 contribution points left but he wanted to learn more about the system before adding points to his stats.

Yesterday, the system unlocked skill <Blacksmith LV1> once he started hammering. There was no EXP needed to level up, Heiner concluded it as nothing display in that way. He might be wrong but the system told him only this skill would affect his craft. The higher level of the skill, the higher chance to get better craft. Luck stat might be useful as well.

"Huh?" The dagger was broken. Heiner muttered to himself. "It's quite hard to make a shape like the blueprint. Did something wrong with materials? Again.."

"Wow! Let me see my first successful dagger!"

[Normal Fast Dagger]

Damage: 4-9 Durability: 10/10

Effect: Speed+1

Weight 1.22 kg.

"System! Why my dagger's damage did not the same as blueprint said?"

[It depends on your performance. That's why you can craft better grade equipment with a more powerful option. Blueprints only show you the average value.]

"I see, then how the effect come from? The materials were too basic, I don't think they can provide any effect for this dagger"

[Yes. Only you, the inheritor of blacksmith god's will can do that. The effect was added by this system. For normal blacksmiths, they have to use magical materials called 'Magic Crystal.' The magic crystal was divided into five grade; white, green, blue, purple, orange and red. The white magic was the lowest grade while the red magic crystal is the highest one. ]

[The higher grade causes the higher price. The empty white magic crystal might be around 10 silver coins. When it contained any magic, the price would rise 3-5 times. By the way, the white magic crystal could only contain a low-level magic spell, if the higher level magic spell was filled. It would shatter into pieces.]

[Blacksmith must melt the magic crystal with other materials. The magic spell would be added as the effect of equipment. You could use more than one magic crystal to each equipment but the success rate would drop by 20% per crystal. The most dangerous thing was...exploding when you failed to craft with those crystals.]

"Interesting! I have never known it before, my father was crafting only basic equipment. I will try with the magic crystals next. But this moment, I have a question: what will happen if I use the same material ratio of the <Fast Dagger> blueprint to make a giant version one. Could it be the Fast greatsword as the end product?" Heiner asked with excited tone.

[I cannot answer but you can try.]

"Okay, I will try it!" Heiner drew a new blueprint. In other words, he just resized the <Fast Dagger> blueprint to greatsword's size. He expected the outcome to be 'Giant Fast Dagger' than 'Fast Greatsword' because of the dagger's handle was also enlarge, any human was unable to grip.

"..." Heiner stupified. Now, what he got was neither a dagger nor a greatsword. Maybe it was a good decoration. "Hey System, I think this giant thing can be a sign. What do you think if I add my shop name and hang it above the shop's entrance?"

[Sure...if you do that, your shop's entrance will turn into the guillotine. When it falls, the lucky customer will get beheaded. Everyone in the city will know the existence of your shop.]

"..."

Heiner gave up his weird idea. He had used a lot of materials for crafting. They would run out soon. He had learned from Malte that he needs to go outside the city for collecting materials. It would be dangerous if he used the wooden spear and wooden arrows in combat. He must prepare before his materials ran out.

He cleaned himself, changed clothes, close his shop and headed to find some white magic crystals in the magic accessory shop. The nearest shop took him 34 minutes on walk. He arrived at 'Hey! Hey! Hey!' shop, 'Is this really a shop name?' There were two guards with full body armor standing in front of the shop. One of them asked Heiner to show him the identity badge. After checking, the guard returned that badge to Heiner and let him in.

There were a lot of things inside the shop and Heiner had never seen such a thing. Although he was unable to use some of them because they needed mana to activate. It was not hurt if he learns them for crafting idea. Yeah, it should be better than his guillotine.

"What are you looking for? If you don't want anything. Leave!" The old man around 80 years old shouted from behind right shelves. His hair and beard were white. He looked at Heiner with his sharp eyes. From what he wore, this old man might be a mage.

"C-Can I look around first?"

"No! State what you need or leave."

"O-Okay, I need some spell from white magic crystals."

"W-1 shelf at ten o' clock."

"T-Thank you."

Heiner was nervous by the shop owner's action. Yes, he did not have much money with himself and that should be the reason for this kind of service. It would be better if he had a mage as his friend. Then he only needs to buy an empty magic crystal and let his friend refill with a spell. But if he could make this kind of materials himself, that would be the best. Should he go to school to learn magic? That was impossible. Forgot about it. At this moment, Heiner was staring at white magic crystals and deciding what should he buy.
