Chapter 1: The Broke Gambler

"GET OUT OF HERE!"

Getting up from the ground after being shoved out of a gambling den, Gruv Brover rolled on the pavement gasping for air.

Gruv reluctantly sat himself up and looked longingly at the bright night sky mulling the loss of all his money.

He considers himself not to be an addictive gambler but tonight he lost himself in the moment and lost it all.

Gruv wobbled his way home after his pout of self pity.

He had nothing to his name and little to look forward to except maybe the massively advertised video game New Heaven.

Once he got home Gruv looked around at the mess of a apartment with Trash Bags, Unclean dishes, and filth everywhere.

The only totally clean area was the bed.

Walking over to the bed Gruv's knees hit the bed and his whole body tilted down into a deep sleep.

Waking up to the chirping birds of the evening Gruv laid in bed for 30 minutes and finally got up with a glass of weirdly green colored water.

"The pile keeps on getting bigger and bigger" Gruv mumbled looking at the pile of bills for the apartment rent. Living alone in Los Vegas, USA was a hard place to be in without a job and little inheritance to his name. Especially so, since he just lost it all.

No living relatives to help him out of this predicament.

Before loosing all of his money yesterday, Gruv bought a newly released gaming pod that was a high tech invention made by the combined brains of the world to make a interactive simulation.

Supposedly there was going to only be one game on the capsule and not many people bought the capsule because of it, but being adventurous Gruv bought the capsule and put his trust into luck, luck of that 1 game being amazing.

None of that mattered now however because he had no money to spend on food, bills, or any necessity.

The game that was supposed to be his pass time was coming out in just under a week and he knew he had to find a way to get food and live.

Getting up and out of the house with some dirty clothes he found on the floor, Gruv went to his nearest mom and pop shop that he knew pretty well from going there every week, with what little money he had.

The shop just around the corner was

"Good Morning" said Gruv. "Good Morning" said Hailey, the owner of the business,

"The usual?"

"No, I'm looking for a job to pay off some of my bills" said Gruv reluctantly.

"Oh wow, this is suprising" said David, the Husband and Chef of Hailey Restaurant.

"I just want to test out a job for a week and see how it goes from there, I just need some leftover food every day or something to not starve" said Gruv.

"I can do that for you but your going to be working hard to earn that money." said Hailey.

And so Gruv started his week of working at a restaurant to feed himself until the upcoming game releases and maybe working at the restaurant after, because after all the game is no more than just a pass time.
